Poured from fridge temp from a can. Pours with lots of head that sticks around. Color is dark brown with a reddish tint. Nose is candy, plums, blackberries, figs, toffee, yeast, and a bit of Christmas spice. Taste is really nice. Definitely a quad. Sweet and bready up front. Toffee, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, malts, and a bit of burnt wood. Maybe a touch of tobacco in there as well. Really well done and very reminiscent of the great quads of Belgium. Mouthfeel is creamy and thick. Aftertaste is sweet and malty. I will definitely seek more out.

Picked this up with four other singles and a Modern Times 4-pack at Windmill Farms. I’m kind of a sucker for quads, so I really wanted to pick this up, especially for the price of $3.79. Untappd description read, “The pinnacle of our Belgian-style obsession, Mør Mør, is a Belgian Quad brewed traditionally simplistic. Using only base malt, Belgian candi sugar, noble hops and our Belgian house yeast, the results culminate into something delicious and complex. Notes of vanilla and anise give way to an onslaught of smooth, velvety caramel and plum.”

Poured a dark reddish brown color with three fingers of khaki white frothy head. Plenty of slow moving bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled caramel, plum, fig, date, raisin, Belgian candied sugar, red apple, Belgian clove and hints of Circus Peanut candy. Better out of the glass than the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted at least as good as the nose, maybe better. In order got caramel, date, fig, plum, raisin, red apple, Belgian candied sugar, Circus Peanuts, brown sugar, clove and toasted wheat bread. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)

An outstanding quad overall. Glad I got to try it. (Overall - 4.00)

Yeah, straight up, it’s not top tier like 76 super unleaded. It’s a little too basic, or even less than that. This one is like the kid in your piano class who always got it wrong. Sure, he hit a few correct keys here and there, but overall, he didn’t pass the class. And right here, in Mør Mør, well, forget world class. I guess maybe, on a good day I would call it average. It’s just too light like your bulimic sister. Yeah, who’s into that? If this one ate a full turkey dinner, it might be better. As for now... next!

Pint can poured into snifter type glass, the canned date of 11/6 makes it about 40 days ago.

Murky red/brown with a nice khaki layer of foam that sticks around and coats the glass well. Smells of Belgian yeast and dark fruits. Tastes of molasses, dark fruit and sourdough with a sweet finish - alcohol is present but not overbearing. Nicely balanced feel that is quite pleasant, especially as it warms.

My sense is that the brewers have changed things up and made significant strides since the earlier versions (some are seemingly impossible to relate to as compared to the current offering as I browsed other reviews going back), I'm enjoying this enough to go back for M0R :)

Brown/purple murkiness.

Khaki head; thick lace.

Plum, candle wax & booze nose.

Thick mouthfeel.

Red wine, dark fruit, wax & booze heat co-exist but still haven't coalesced almost 2 years in.

Not very good.

A: Bright deep dark brown with reddish highlights under a 1” cream to tan foam collar that hugs the side of the glass.
S: Dark dried fruit, hint of cherry, dark sugar.
T: Spicy, cardamom, molasses to treacle, fruit cake without the citron, dark dried fruit, anise, some tart on the finish that lingers through the aftertaste.
F: Super creamy texture, full body, above average carbonation.
O: the texture of this beer gives it the texture of a very airy dessert mousse.

A: The beer is black when viewed from afar. Upon closer inspection, the edges of the glass are very dark reddish brown in color. It poured with a short off white head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark fruits are present in the nose.
T: as in the smell, the taste is filled with flavors of dark fruits—plums and black cherries seem to stand out in particular—along with some associated sweetness.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite fruity for a quadrupel and does a good job of hiding its alcohol.

I picked up this bottle during a trip to Jacksonville, Florida. I had assumed (reasonably) that this was a Belgian brewery that I hadn't heard of. I was only upon opening it at home that I found it is a California brewery - interesting choice of name!

The nose is quite pungent. Lots of dark fruit, plum, date and fig. Also a bit of a yeast component, a dry bready scent. Flavour is similar - lots of dark fruit as well as a bunch of alcohol heat, way more than there should be. Generally very sweet, but the finish runs a bit dry. Feel is a bit thinner than I would like in a beer of the style. Not bad, but the heat needs to be turned way down and the body beefed up a bit.

500ml bottle. Poured out a murky, deep brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of dried fruits, sweet toffee and roasted malt. Great balance of dried dark fruits - plum and raisin with a roasted malt and toffee finish.

sort of odd as a quad, better as a strong dark ale. it lacks any really defining belgian yeast characteristics to it, but has all the necessary dark and interesting grains that make it close enough for me. weird like some of the other beers from these guys, but in a flattering and drinkable way. huge body on the dense dark dark red beer. short lived but tall light brown head. the nose on this is all grain, layers of bitter roast alternate with sweeter molasses and even maple notes. enormous and right on. the alcohol too is very well hidden, i would have thought closer to 8% abv from the nose, so well done in that regard as well. first sip is supremely smooth, no burn at all, and a very long taste. it begins with heavy sweet barley, maybe some oats too, and has a sort of dates and raisins middle, before the grain comes back for the finish. the belgian yeast is missing from the quad part of it, but i dont really want it to be there anyway. i like the grain base and the almost flavorless yeast contribution. its a cool yeast, because it handles all the sugar well, not long lasting residuals in this, but it also doesnt have that same fruity brightness of the classic belgian strains. i liked it more and more as i drank it, which is maybe how it got its name...

Poured into a Gavroche tulip. Pours a hazy dark reddish amber with a two finger light tan head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of bready and caramel malt, dark dried fruit. Flavor begins with sweet caramel malt, fresh and dried dark fruits, particularly dates then transitions to a drier, hoppier dark fruit finish that is somewhat astringent. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An interesting riff on the quad style, starting with classic sweet dark fruit, but the flavor thins and dries out a bit too much in the finish. ABV initially well covered, but becomes noticeable in the finish. I enjoyed this as a idiosyncratic take on a quad, but would probably return to the Belgians if I was looking for traditional taste. Might be a winner with a bit more balance and some more sweet malt in the finish.

500ml bottle poured into a tulip.
Appearance: Deep mahogany, with a petite, off-white head. Opaque and cloudy when held up to the light.
Smell: Raisins, molasses, and burnt toast.
Taste: Figs, caramel, very subtle mint at the end. Maybe some cherries. Leather and tobacco. The raisin that was present in the nose is mixed in here somewhere as well.
Mouthfeel: Thick and mostly flat. Sits heavy on my tongue.
Overall: A pretty nice beer. I admit to not being the best judge as this really isn’t a preferred style for me. I finished the bottle, but I probably won’t need to buy another one.

Poured from the bottle into a Unibroue tulip.

Pours a dark chocolate color with no lacing and a minimal head but it is thick as you would expect with a quad. Smells of dark fruits with a slight alcohol tinge coming through at the end. Other than that, there is not too much on the nose. Maybe because the roomies are stinking up.the house burning taco meat. It tastes of dark fruits: dried plums, figs, and maybe even some cherry at the end. Above medium carbonation but not on the level of St. Bernardus. This brew coats the mouth well and you get a slight alcohol burn on the down. It's pleasant.

Would I get this again? Probably not seeing as how St. Bernardus is not much more expensive for a bottle...However, overall I enjoyed it. Not a bad quad but I think that they do other styles better.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, slight dry hop, hops, alcohol, hint of dark citrus, and a hint of spruce. Fits the style of a Quadruple, thought it is more reminiscent of an English Old Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight roasted malt, sweet malt, hops, hint of oatmeal, slight dry hop, hint of spruce, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma, body, and blend.

50cl into a tulip. Pours a dark bronze walnut, nice tan head required an aggressive pour, ok lacing.

The aroma is sweet and spicy, a somewhat peculiar unclassified spicing dominates.

Never more sweeter than bittersweet, a strong phenolic note defines the flavor. Difficult to identify unique aftertaste component like molasses blended with zinc although pleasant enough but becomes the defining characteristic with warmth. Less than medium bodied mouthfeel.

Acquired in a trade, this was poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into an Affligem chalice. Poured a reddish-brown with a small head (less than a finger) that dissipated quickly as I let it warm. Not much lacing was in evidence. Nose was some dark fruit, especially figs and caramel. Taste was very subtle for a quad with sweet caramel predominating. There were some dark fruit notes of raisin and plum. Mouthfeel was very light for a quad as was the carbonation. There was little to no alcohol warming. This was an OK offering but definitely NOT at the head of the quad class. A little too subtle for my tastes.

16.9 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap acquired at a SoCal bottle shop for $7.99 and served into a New Belgium stem-goblet in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. Expectations are high. Bottle cap reads: 5 - 12 - 9; I assume this is either the bottled-on date or something to do with the brewery's history. Bottle #741/10000. 10.5% according to my bottle (not 10% as currently listed).

Served straight from the fridge and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

Not paired with food.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger khaki colour head of nice cream and thickness, and very good retention (~6 minutes) for the high ABV. Body colour is a very dark caramel-brown. Non-opaque; nontransparent. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Lacing is alright.

Sm: Caramel is dominant, with some raisin alongside. Bright fig is the dominant fruit; lacks the dark/stone fruit character of the really good quads I've had. Some vibrant sweet plum is there too. Complementary malts abound. I'm looking forward to this; it's an evocative aroma for a quad. Moderate in strength. Little yeast comes through. No alcohol is detectable.

T: Fig and plum. Light raisin. Medicinal grape cough syrup is strong here; bleh. Poor malt foundation. More and more medicinal the more I drink. If I could get past it, it'd be a decent quad, but I can't. It's the most medicinal beer I've ever tasted. Really quite awful, but that may be personal taste. I wouldn't call it objectively badly brewed. Too sweet. Imbalanced and horridly built - at least to my palate.

Mf: Too nectary and viscous. Syrupy. Smooth and wet. Hard to digest. Brings out the flavours - which in this case is very bad.

Dr: Pricey and really quite terrible. The grape medicine ruins it for me, but I imagine this will appeal to some. Unfortunately, it's just completely wrong for my personal taste. I'll give the brewer the benefit of the doubt on this one, but I certainly won't be having another. For what it's worth, the ABV is well hidden. I'll struggle to finish this glass (but I'll do it, damnit, I don't drain pour unless the beer is hideous [see Chelada]); this is extremely hard to drink on account of its low quality.

Poured into the Affligem chalice where it foams up nicely and leaves plenty of lacing along the glass. Cloudy brownish color. Plenty of sudsiness in the mouthfeel. Fairly light bodied and certainly not sticky. Even a pleasant watery taste to go with all the malt.

Sweet and tasty in a dessert style. A flavor of baked apples with a few raisins. Cherries with some oxidation in the taste. Label says 10.5% ABV. Just a very oddball beer. It's like some unusual fruit fell into the tank and got fermented along with the malt, but I can't think what. The Belgian yeast dries things out. A long murky aftertaste with that woody, mineral aftertaste and a hint of dried fruit.

From the 500 ml bottle bought at Bine & Vine in San Diego. Dark sediment.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing

Mahogany pour with a big khaki head. Kind of buttery with a light roast, some caramel, and dark fruits. A touch of brown sugar and some toasted bread. Not really a pleasant aroma. The flavor is a touch better, but not much. Still somewhat buttery with a decent enough fruit character of raisin and plum. A bit of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee sweetness. Maybe a mild malic tartness. Just a hint of toasted bread and roast. Not really very good.

A pretty darn good beer for Mason City Iowa. The taste and aroma were both a little sharp for the stated style of Quad, but it was hard to tell if that was from alcohol or hop bitterness. The mouthfeel was wonderful, just the slightest bit of carbonation. I would have given it a 5 if it were just a tich heavier. Color is maybe too light for as murky as it is. I'm seeing a lot through the edges but the middle is quite cloudy.

Tasting @ Wally's. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a reddish-brown with a half-inch white head which fades to the rim leaving spotty lace.

N: Dark fruit (raisins and figs), and caramel.

T: Sweetish caramel and dark fruits (figs, raisins, prunes). A bit light for a quad.

M: Medium body and carbonation. Finishes sweet, malty and caramel.

O: ABV is warming. A decent offering, but not top of class.

Just picked up a bottle of this (9/2/12) from Whole Foods. Nice artwork and a neat looking cap! Numbered 6323/10000.

Out of a Duvel tulip:

Appearance: Dark. Head faded away quick.
Nose: Another reviewer says phenolic and I'd agree. Dark fruit, malty, a little banana.
Taste: Very malty, with some hints of...chocolate? The maltiness really seems to step up as this beer warms.
Mouthfeel: Dry, not a lot of carbonation. The 10% ABV isn't very apparent.
Finish: Dry and a little bitter.

I'm not too familiar with quads yet, but I think this is pretty solid. Would probably buy again.

pours a chestnut brown color with a lively head.

herbal scents start the nose off, followed by a malty spice phenol. not too much dark fruits as with other quads.

wow?! did i drink a hair salon in a bottle. horrible. taste like drinking nair. oh man.

right now im seriously contemplating throwing the rest of this out. i paid 7.99 for this bottle, and i seriously feel i got the shaft. its so bad i would gladly chug a corona light to get this taste out of my mouth

Reviewing this quad since it needs the reviews.

Pours a very dark cranberry red/brown with a firm and thick khaki head.

Nose is assertive fruity banana esters - smells very Belgian.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice balance of malt and hops and light carbonation. Can "get" the alcohol but is not offensive.

Flavor profile is rich malt and nice bitter hops in a very nice balance. Flavors of fruit, cooked stone fruit, salted toffee and light carmel.

Finish is dry with a nice hop bitter finish that is long lasting.

OK, let's see how fast I can do this before I am automatically logged out and can't post my review.

Poured from a 500 ml. bottle into a globe glass. Deep brown with bright crimson highlights. Light carbonation and lace.

Nose of brown sugar and some yeast, bit of dark fruit. Thin.

Taste of cocoa and spice, touch of chocolate and bread.

Feel is a bit thin, needs more carbonation. Needs bottle conditioning.

Overall pretty good, no flaws.
