Notes: Once the heat of summer breaks, it’s time to find your way to our coffee porter, Waypoint. This beer is brewed with the highest quality coffee blended and roasted by our neighbors at Tandem Coffee Roasters to give our mild porter a rich fruity complexity held up by a chocolatey, malty backbone. This East Bayside collaboration is available from foliage season into the depths of our Maine winter.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Limited head creation off the pour, faint tan fleeting one finger head is made. A thin pucked top is present while drinking and a strong light creamy collar though. Body color is more dark mahogany with a few red highlights and some clarity on the sides.

Light coffee and faint roast on the aroma. It's slightly sensing of milk but also the aroma is pretty quiet and closed. Small milky chocolate gets a bit of accent from the creamy milky tones. Surprisingly not very coffee strong.

Palate is at first quite flat and a bit fizzy. Lots of mineral like carbonation and mouthfeel on this, with a rocky mineral washing aftertaste. A very good sensing chocolate quality mixing with faint hints of coffee in the mid palate. Splashes a bit too wet even for a porter, but manages a bit of grainy husk on the aftertaste and lingering. Unfortunately it's also just a bit too gaseous in feel and also flavor.

A decent beer that's really hampered by a lacking feel and gas a bit too much.

Coffee porter on tap at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge. Plenty of coffee, true stout purists could probably tell it's not one. Enjoyable.

A nice coffee porter on tap at the brewery. I poured mine from a growler. It pours to a dark black color with a thick head a of foam. The smell is like a cup of coffee. It has the flavor of coffee but it isn't over powering. it doesn't linger in your mouth for too long. It has a nice crisp feel in your mouth. It's probably the best way to enjoy a cup of coffee in the evening.
