Notes: Heady like the sweet breath of Zephyrus, our India pale ale is redolent of citrus, apples, and pears, balanced by a touch of caramel. We use malted barley grown by local farmers and add a special blend of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso hops to create this juicy, hoppy ale.

A: Pours a solid golden orange color with a fingers worth of puffy, slightly off-white head

S: Hops are the stand-out here, with a slightly citrusy, fruity, and grassy presence. Malt has just enough presence to give it a slightly sweet caramel note

T: Follows the nose, with a great balance between the malt and hops. Hops are still at the front, but the malts make themselves known. Alcohol is very well hidden, and simply adds some more fruity notes to the hops

M: Medium bodied with a soft, moderate carbonation. Makes this beer very easy to drink

O: Wow, what a solid new beer from the guys over at Rising Tide. Amazingly balanced, yet will more than please the average hop-head. Definitely of the east-coast style of IPA, as pine isn't even in the picture with the hops. The cascade, centennial, and calypso hops really do wonders for this beer. Great job, guys!!

Can: Poured a pale copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter and citrusy hops notes. Taste is amix of citrus hops notes with some clearly noticeable bitterness and light grainy malt notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable old school IPA.

A very nice west coast IPA. Hop flavor is piney and bitter, as intended. Look is just slightly hazy, and nose is earthy. A nice west coast IPA from the east coast.

A: The beer is crystal clear amber orange in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high frothy off white head that gradually died down, leaving a short head covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of earthy and herbal hops are present in the nose along with notes of grapefruit citrus.
T: The taste has lots of flavors of earthy and herbal hops with hints of grapefruit and a strong amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA is both very earthy/herbal and bitter, delivering a large bite on the mouthfeel. It really cleanses the palate.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/6/2018. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, cherry, red apple, mango, watermelon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, cherry, red apple, mango, watermelon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, cherry, red apple, mango, watermelon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, sticky/resinous/rindy, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Nice Cascade, Centennial, Calypso profile. Very unique from the Calypso. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and juicy balanced hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example. Grew on my through the glass with the unique hop character.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a burnt semi-dark orange sort of color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a fairly slow pace. Sly crisp messy lace.
The aroma had some grassy to oily semi-bitter floral hops with an ample amount of bitter piney-ness coming about. Malts stifle some of the bitterness of the hops for a nice blend.
The flavor was moderately sweet subjugating the bitterness a bit more than I thought it would come out. Some bready sort of crisp intake flowed right on in through the aftertaste and finish.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable to sippy sort of quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good.
Overall, pretty good AIPA that I could come back to.

From a 12oz can to a Teku glass. Can had ABV at 6.3% (not 7.2%, maybe Zephyr has been reformulated since first added here in 2012).
Deep copper-gold color with a thick white head. The head may be the most unusual aspect of this beer.
Smell of ripe fruit with toasty bitterness underneath.
Taste follows nose. A well balanced hop-forward, but not hop-dominant IPA.
Feel is substantial; maybe a tad heavier than my favorites.
Overall, a very good locally available IPA.

Nice hoppy IPA. Just bitter enough but still refreshing. Clean after taste, one of my go to beers!
