Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Heady like the sweet breath of Zephyrus, our India pale ale is redolent of citrus, apples, and pears, balanced by a touch of caramel. We use malted barley grown by local farmers and add a special blend of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso hops to create this juicy, hoppy ale.

Pretty good, but a lot of ipa's are pretty good. Might have been better fresher. 3 months old when I got it.

12oz bottle recently picked up on a trip to Boston. Dated 12/14/15.

A- Stubby 12oz reveals a somewhat cloudy pale golden-yellow brew into my tulip. A large white head just under two fingers rises with a foamy, creamy texture. Stellar retention on that cap and a large ring drops ample sheets and drizzled lacing.

S- Citrus, both the zest and the juice, comes to mind right off the top for me. Oranges lead to grapefruits and some lemon peel hints. Floral, herbal and light malty hints seem to pale in comparison to the fruits.

T- Hops lead the way as in the aroma and once again it is citrus that is in the forefront. I am instantly reminded of peeling an orange or clementine with the fresh zesty bitterness that comes with that. Grapefruit, slight resinous pine, grassy and floral notes make way for pale cracked grains, apple, a medium Crystal malt sweetness and some yeast bread.

MF- Right around medium bodied which helps support the 7.2% ABV. It lands on the palate with a foamy consistency and a moderate bitterness in the finish.

Between the fresh citrus flavors and the 7.2% ABV it packs some punch. By no means malty but grains are used in a good manner here to balance some of the bitterness and hop notes. Some fruity esters sneak in from the yeast and don't do anything for me but it is still solid.

Bomber bottle

Hazed medium apricot amber, looser light khaki head. Nice looking very fine bubble lacing left behind.

Grassy and citric hop nose.

Citrus with lots of lime and oranges. Mixed fruits with some more grassyness. Malty underbelly. Dry and hopped up finish. More then respectable IPA

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 11.13.14. Sampled on February 13, 2015.

I like unfiltered beers that look unfiltered and this one does. The pour is a real milky, cloudy looking pale yellow leading up to a big, long-lasting foamy white head.

The aroma is more toward the grassy and floral side with a touch of toasted malts out back.

Medium body.

Like the aroma, I get a full grassy and floral hop character with just enough toasted biscuit to balance it out. But the emphasis is on the hops.
