Totally disapointing -this is the third iron fist beer I've had and all of them remind me of mediocre home brew.

A lot of carbonation, large bubbles over flow glass. Sickly sweet/alcohol smell. Nice fruit spiceness.

Thin stale taste - very disapointing ,some fruity plum, not so good astringency

Hmm...

Pours a hazy deep amber to brown-ish color with a tan head. In the aroma, quite iced tea like, malty and sweet. In the taste, a small dry hop presence in sweet tea is the best way to describe it. A hop bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry lemon like citrus and tea in the aftertaste. Like sweet tea, notes of lemon, and different with a hop presence.

A: Poured a murky amber copper that had light head that ran away quickly

S: Deep intriguing spices mixed with light fruits and hint of cinnamon. Prolly not cinnamon but that's the best way i could describe it.

T: This did not resemble any type of dubbel that i have had previously. Maybe they introduced their own spin on style that included more bread and doughy flavors then actual blend of fruits and caramel. Herbal spices gently kick in at the end of the palate.

M: High carbonation for the bottle that i received that lay on the sweet side rather then the dry in which i prefer.

O: A decent spin on the dubbel but definitely nothing special and worth going out of your way to pick up.

Consumed at the brewery tasting room, March 22nd, 2013.

Beer is a clear hue somewhere between caramel and amber. Nice beige/tan head quickly subsides to a thin skin of foam.

Not much aroma; just indistinct roasted malt.

Flavor is melanoidin-y amber malts, plums and a modest finishing bitterness. Lacking many of the traditional flavors associated with the guidelines of the style. Thick and chewy tasting, if that makes sense, though the mouthfeel is medium-bodied. A little under-carbonated, I thought,.

Nothing bad here, though nothing especially outstanding, either.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into tulip glass. There was something off putting with the smell and taste of this beer. I will not be going back to this beer

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized malt with light fruity ester and some dry raisins and plum notes is not as rich and enticing as I had expected. Taste is also dominated by dry caramelized malt with some light fruity ester and some dry raisins and plums notes. Residual sugar is quite lower then I would have expected for the style. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but not as rich and sweet as I was expecting.

11/21/10

On tap at Iron Fist.

A: Amber tinged brown with a frothy light brown head.

M: Plum, raisin, fig, earthy hops, dash of chocolate, Belgian yeast, and bready malt. Alcohol is apparent.

T: Prune, plum, raisin, fig. Moderate sweetness. Bread and caramel malt. Moderate bitterness, more bitter than your average Dubbel. Belgian yeast is apparent.

M: Medium carbonation with a sticky, smooth mouthfeel. A touch thin.

Overall: A pretty good Dubbel with more bitterness than is typical.

Ruby brown colour, two fingers of off white head with some lace. Smell is incredibly spicy, cinnamon and nutmeg, orange liquor, yeasty with a bit of orange juice like points, a bit odd but not off putting. Taste is a little better, spicy and malty, orange, brown sugar, raisin and dark bread are all present throughout, medium carbonation, medium body, pretty good feel. Overall this is OK, the serving size is a bit much but I finished the bottle over the course of an hour or so, something I am glad to have tried but nothing I will actively seek out.
