October 3rd, 2015 - Hoppy and piney, this brew is fresh from the start, but it looks calm to the point that I'm afraid it is a little flat. The head is almost absent (though it is served in a taster glass) and the body is placid without any bubble traffic. And when I taste it, I confirm the body is a little thin, but not without texture. The aftertaste is most notable, with a long flavor of honey and just a bit of cough syrup. Focusing on that last note, I try to dissect the hop profile and find it pretty disagreeable with the rest of the beer, discordant and poorly matched.

Thus is an interesting beer, I havent had what is considered a Belgian ipa that is so high in abv. Pours a murky bright orange with a small head that fell to nothing rather quickly, lots of sediment from the bottle conditioning. Lots of hops on the nose, more up front than I though. The Belgian aromas peak through as well with bananas, spices, and a little funk. Taste is pretty darn smooth, sweetness and tropical/stone fruit up front which leads way to some spiciness and bitter hops in the finish. Finish is a little dry, which is nice. Full body with some nice playful carbonation. I like this beer, it's very unique and kinda fun. Nothing I would drink on the regular, but fun to try.

Pours a dark dark orange with a good lacing the sicks for quit awhile. Nice head on this beer. Smells of apples and wheats. The taste is throwing me off though... first you get hit woth the fruit flavors and wheats but them the ipa kicks in and destroys the greatness. Decent but not the greatest to me

Look: Poured from a 750 mL into a tulip, pours a dark orange-copper color, with a whooping 3-finger off white head, generous lacing occurs as well

Smell: Citrus and malt resonate with mild yeast, kind of like a lemon tart or similar pastry

Taste: Very classic Belgian-ale taste, sweet and malty, no real sign of hops, but the sweetness hides the 12% ABV well

Feel: Fairly thick with carbonation and head retention, its bottle conditioned so the high carbonation was expected.

Overall: Its a good Tripel, but I'm not getting an indication of an IPA inside. I think the guys at Iron Fist underestimated how overpowering the sweet malt character can be.

Boozy and strong, hoppy and classically a West Coast interpretation of the Belgian IPA style. Be aware, that boozy alcohol kick needs some time to mellow out. Good Belgian IPA though.

L: Pours hazy amber under a moussey 3” cream colored foam cap.
S: Light sweetness, citrusy, earthy hops. T: Hop, alcohol and yeast flavors are in balance F: rich and creamy with a medium full body and medium low carbonation with a light warming on the finish. Light fruit flavors mellow the hops slightly with malt flavors in the background.
O: This beer has a big Belgian texture with a west coast attitude towards hops that mask a potent alcohol punch.
