Dark brown chalice brought out, thin head on it, less than 1/5" I'd say, but it has some pretty good retention for the tiny bit of head it developed, lace dots the glass as we choke this one down (neither my girlfriend nor I were fans).
The aroma was more of an annoying perfume moreso than anything resembling raspberries or chocolate (which was how the beer was described as containing and got us excited to order said beer). Something already seemed bad, and we were still going downhill.
A weird flavor profile of cardamom, ginger, unidentified berry puree mixture, very mild bitter chocolate undercurrent. Too much 'raspberry' and not enough chocolate. Made me wonder if there was actually chocolate added, or if it was just chocolate malt. Either way, it wasn't enough of either. A disappointing beer that sounded great when described.

From a large shared bottle.
Poured essentially black with a decent head.
Medicinal aroma and, to a lesser extent, flavor.
Raspberries evident but diminished by a vague, fruity sweetness.
Overly sweet with poorly hidden alcohol.
O: Rich but lacks balance.

Poured into a Maudite snifter. Pours pitch black with a half finger fine light tan head with god retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt and lots of cardamom, a hint of raspberry. Flavor of toasted and lightly charred malt, slight dark fruit, cardamom, light chocolate and light raspberry as in the aroma. Finishes with a nice combination of raspberry and charred malt with light hops. Medium bodied, approaching creaminess. The raspberry component was used with a deft touch, combining well with the malt. Spicing was also at a nice level. This was a unique, well made and fun to drink stout for International Stout Day. Glad I was able to get a bottle.

Brown, thin head, under .5cm. Spice rack aroma, overpowering, distracting, uncool. Raspberries, nowhere.
Taste was all ginger and cardamom, already got me ready to fight. Fuck this beer. Raspberry finally comes out but its like the party's already been busted, someone shit in the sink, the drapes have blood on them.
Needs MOAR chocolate.

Quite likable raspberry flavor with a very pleasing fragrance of fruit with just a touch of spice. Thoroughly black in the St. Bernardus chalice with a big blanket of beige foam and lots of lacing along the glass. Spritzy mouthfeel and plenty carbonated.
Deep, dark malt with a hint of chocolate. The fruit is quite powerful but the cardamom and hops take that off course. Not very sweet, though it's quite malty. An interesting fruity tartness, like sour cherries, underneath the burnt sugar and blackened malt. Bitter in the aftertaste and a taste like berry seeds with the bitterish spices. Different, and not like the sweet unctuous RIS styles.
I like that they didn't feel the need to jack up the ABV to the max. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido.

Bottle I brought to share at jmgrub's tasting.
Pours a murky black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cardamom, spices, and some slight berry aromas. Taste is much the same with a spice finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer but there is much more of a spice presence than any berry aromas or flavors.
