12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 5.99. Canned 12/14/17. Served in a Wild Heaven snifter. Enjoyed 2/15/18.

Pours midnight black with a half finger cap of tan head. The dense froth lingers, producing a solid halo but no lace.

Smells of hearty roast, cocoa, smoke and a little bit of faint raspberry.

Dark, rich flavors of burnt malt, smoke, cocoa, cooked caramel, vague macerated raspberry and a noticeable but not overpowering kick of alcohol.

Full, creamy feel with rather subdued carbonation. Smokey, fairly bitter finish with notes of burnt chocolate, heavily kilned malt and cooked raspberries.

This is the first stout I’ve had from Wild Heaven. Gravitational Wave is a bitter brutal beast. Strong work to say the least. I’d really like to try a barrel aged version to see if the added sweetness would round things out a bit.

look: Deep dark, nearly opaque brown. Some lightening to cola around the edges when held to light. Modest mocha head on the pour that mostly recedes.
smell: Smoke is the most prominent note. A lingering sniff and I'm getting cocoa and faint raspberry, some light roastiness.
taste: Smoke again is most prominent. The other flavors are there but take a back seat. Very mild for a 14%er.
Feel: Full and silky.

Can't find any fault with this beer! It is everything you expect in a stout with the addition of cocoa and raspberry. There is a subtle smoke/char background and the chocolate is subdued, but noticable in a good way (I do not like those beers that taste like they have been doused with chocolate syrup). The raspberry is very noticable, but again not artificially or too sweet. The ABV will sneak up on you because one is enough, but your taste buds will want another. Highly recommended.

This stout borders on being more of a meal than a beverage, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
While Gravitational Wave is a bit more viscous than I'm used to, I understand that's my problems with that have more to do with me than the product. It smells and tastes fantastic.
