We brew our Strong Golden Ale all-grain, giving it a deep and complex taste.

Belgian aromatic malts add hints of dried fruit, while generous Noble and West Coast hops deliver an earthy spiciness. It finishes semi-dry with lingering tropical fruits and spicy notes from Belgian yeast.

Tried a pint on draft at Taco Mac in CNN Center. Pours a rich golden color, topped by a thick, creamy white head, leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet pale malt, candi sugar, and some light, fruity hops with tropical fruit notes.
Palate is light pale malt up front, with some bubblegum sweetness. Citrusy notes from the hops, along with more tropical fruit (pineapple) come through mid-palate. Finish is full and rich, with sweetness from the malt and a good dose of fruity esters.
Body is light and smooth, almost silky. A surprise that this comes from Georgia. The alcohol is well-integrated to the point where you'd never guess that this is above 8%.

This golden ale pours a yellowish with a white head, at first the taste of it is really sweet then it mellow out a bit. Just an average ale; however the ABV% is at 8.5 so it makes up the sweetness.

One half inch of fine white head quickly falls, leaving dense lace. The beer is opalescent amber orange (SRM 5-6).

This being the inaugural use of a PBGC Sauvin 2 tulip glass, it seemed fitting to choose a beer that should have ample aromatics. The aroma is similar to a variety of orchard fruit that had been laying on the ground for a couple of weeks. Particularly apples, with grapes and spicy funk as well as sweet bubblegum.

The flavor is distracted due to a strange, and overwhelming, astringency. With a little effort, I am able to discern coriander within other undistinguished spices. It is more fruity than even the nose suggested, though it is all rather muddy. The finish is lingering and unpleasant.

A full body with a slick, soft texture. The alcohol is as expected, while fine carbonation is well below style expectations. And that astringency is ever present.

Ok, this is a miss. However, I can imagine it would be significantly improved by simply eliminating the astringency.

From notes 1/25/12: Pours a hazy honey orange with a huge, lava mountain of slowly dissipating, off-white head that leaves a nice coating of lace. Aroma is Belgian malts and yeast; clean grainy bread, bubblegum, pear, apple and spice. Taste is semisweet malt and a bitterness that initiates early in the sip with notes of pear, coriander, banana and spicy hops appearing at mid-sip with the bitterness intensifying toward the finish and lingering long in the aftertaste.

Invocation is currently my favorite beer. It has a great smooth taste and smell, and it goes well with most meals including chicken and beef. I believe I had a bottle of this before Wild Heaven had moved to Avodale Estates.
