I've visited Deckard's quite a few times, a couple of them being recent visits. It is a spacious yet fairly warm environment with a large bar, plenty of seating, and a nice outdoor patio. Lots of TVs for watching games, I'd best describe this as a slightly corporate upscale neighborhood bar with a good beer selection. The staff is at least semi-knowledgeable about the beer, but not to the point of beer bar service status. Either way, they are quite friendly. The selection is solid with quite a few more typical/available craft beers (such as DFH 60 minute, Stone IPA), but I'll often see a one off or limited seasonal on draft (from WnB to LH Week Sauce). They also have cask beer occasionally, which I particularly enjoy. Food is above average, but not exceptional.

Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night in October:

I walked into the place, it must have been 6:30-7pm on a Monday night, expecting to see a decent crowd to watch some football, but was surprised, when I think that, including the people that I was with, maybe 10 people in the whole place. Maybe it was just a Monday, but, again, I figured maybe we were just early, but by the time that we left, more than 2 hours later, the place maybe only had 2 dozen people and the place can defiantly hold a lot more than that. The place was appealing to the eye, though. Anyway, we were greeted promptly and shown to a table. A server came over promptly and in a few minutes we ordered beer, I tried the Ayinger Kirta-Halbe on tab, served in a .5L mug. My wife, on the other hand, tried to order a bottle of North Coast Red Seal and the guy had to come back twice to ask her what it was. To say the least, the waiter's beer knowledge was limited, at best, but the service that he provided was maybe average. It was not better, as I asked him to bring me another beer with my main and I had to ask him again when I was more than half through it.

The beer selection was good, the place had a few tabs of beers that I have not seen on tab at other joints around town, so that was a plus, and same for the bottle selection.

The food was decent, we tried several apps, onion rings, shrimp and nachos. All were pub grub kicked up a notch. For my main, I tried a lobster pot-pie, which over all was good.

Overall, I might go back if they have something special on tap, but otherwise I would probably consider other places first.

(From spring break notes)

Stopped in here with the girlfriend during the Kentucky/WVU game.

Atmosphere was nice. It was almost completely when we went in there (around noon) which I thought was strange. They tried to seat us outside, but with the construction going on next door and the blistering hot sun, we passed.

Quality was decent. The beer was served at a proper temperature, in an appropriate glass. Food was prepared quickly and brought to the table in a cool serving dish (we ordered the housemade kielbasa).

Service was lacking. The waiter seemed annoyed that we wanted to sit inside instead of on the balcony. He was in and out with some long periods between, which was a little annoying since we were one of only two tables inside the restaurant.

Selection was really nice. They had a great selection of craft on tap (actually, it's all tap). I was able to try my first Hopslam here, so that was great. The selection of food, though, was lacking. I was not impressed with the menu as a whole. Not many options that seemed appetizing to me.

Food was ok, nothing special. The kielbasa was served with so much mustard that I could barely see the sausage. Once the mustard was taken off and we cut into the kielbasa, the complaints went away. It was delicious, but a pretty small portion for the price ($6). That was all we ordered.

Overall, I think I will only go back if they have a special release or an event that I'm really into. They seem to want to get into those, so maybe I'll visit on a special occasion. It was not somewhere that made me want to return though.

Stopped in here for lunch recently.

Atmosphere is good, although getting inside the place is somewhat of an adventure as the parking lot is always absurdly busy and the crosswalks don't seem to work very well. Once you go up the stairs there are quite a few tables and booths leading up to a long bar in the back right corner of the room. There are about 6-8 TV's all around the bar. The entire place has a modern and clean feel with a lot of windows and high and exposed ceilings.

Quality is good. I noticed a solid selection of glassware on top of the bar, including some brewery-specific logo'd glassware. All beer was served at a proper temperature with good amounts of head.

Service is also good. The bartender was able to rattle off the specials and new beer selections quickly and I never had to wait long for food or drink.

Selection is very good. 24 taps I believe with no bad (read BMC) choices. A litany of styles and breweries were represented. They also claim to have two casks at all times but during my visit they had only one. Still, that's one more than most places around town.

Food is good. I ordered the Pig Pen, a chorizo sausage burger, that was very good but the fries were way too crispy and were almost inedible. Hopefully the fries were a one-time mistake and will improve on my next visit.

Value is good. The beers were just a bit on the expensive side but the food is a good deal.

Overall I was impressed by this place and I'm glad there's another solid establishment in the Poncey Highlands area. Worth stopping in for some food and a few drinks.

Stopped in with my girlfriend on 11/7 during dinner hours.

When you first arrive a long stairways leads to a spacious dining area. It is contemporary, with nice cozy lighting. I really liked the flow of the area, and the way it was laid out, but the 2 things I didn't care for were the presence of 2 large TV's in the dining room; they felt out of place. Nothing about the restaurant said sports bar, except for the TV's. If they want to put some out on the covered deck, that's fine, but I'm in a fairly nice restaurant, not a Taco Mac, and I don't give a shit about football. The last thing I didn't care for were the layout of the actual booths; the table sat oddly close to the actual bench seating, and felt a touch cramped. Regardless of these 2 concerns the restaurant is very tastefully laid out.

The service was excellent when we went, though granted it was pretty slow since we went on a Sunday. Our server was very attentive, answered all our menu questions, and was more than happy to bring us draught samples.

The selection was good, but not stellar. The food portion of the menu contains a lot of classic dishes with a bit of a twist and good preparation. The beer menu is thorough, while not containing a ton of taps, they were all solid choices spanning across many styles.

We ended up getting the char-grilled wing appetizer(a must-very good.) The butcher's steak, and a blue cheese burger. All the items were well made, and cooked as per our requests. My only complaint would be that the sauce on the steak was a little overpowering and drowned out the flavors of the meat. Other than that the food was excellent, and the portions were very fair in regards to the price. Also, try the mac and cheese.

Over all value was good. As others have stated, some of the bottle pricing is too high to justify, but I rarely order bottles in bars anyway. It seems that the draft pricing has been adjusted, as some of the beers that others were complaining about were priced much better when I came by. The entrees run from $10-$18, and the ones we had at least were worth the price tag.

I will definitely be coming back, I would really like to try some of the steamer dishes.

This place has only been open a week, so this may be a bit provisional...
New restaurant owned by the same group that owns Taco Mac, since they are related, you can use your Brewniversity/Passport card too. This used to be a Japanese steakhouse, but looks like they did some pretty extensive renovation to open this place. It's really just one BIG room with high-backed booths, tables and a LOOONG bar along a windowed wall. There is also a big outdoor seating area. Some typical Taco Mac touches such as lots of flat screen TV's showing a variety of news/sports channels. Open kitchen with the bar running right up to it. Pretty nice vibe, more laid back than Taco Mac.
Quality is pretty good. Absolutely no macros on the 25ish taps. Extensive bottle list where some of the macros reside. Specialty mixed drinks (one is called the Day Laborer referring to some of the locals hanging around outside).
For only being open a week, the service was good. A little distracted and forgetful at times, but good. Bartenders introduce themselves by name and handshake a la Mac McGee's. The were friendly and pretty eager, but still clearly learning as they go.
Good selection, 25ish taps. All craft and plenty of seasonal stuff too (Terrapin Pumpkinfest, Left Hand Oktoberfest, Sierra Nevada Tumbler, etc.). Lots of bottles to choose from too.
Food was quite good. Definitely a large step above Taco Mac. Food menu is small and focused. I had the burger with a side of onion rings and everything was good, but my burger was overcooked. Chargrilled wings only come in mild, medium, and hot and were quite good. I also had the Scotch Egg which was tasty, but why are American restaurants so afraid of Branston Pickle? Instead, it came with a good beer-mustard. They also have steamer pots to make shrimp and grits, mussels, etc. Food was reasonably priced, burger was $9 and so were the wings. Meals ranged from $9-20ish. Decent value.
A good addition to the Taco Mac family that I will return to on a regular basis.
