Poured into a pint glass at the flying saucer in San Antonio.
It pours jet black with a thin tan head that quickly fades to a ring around the side of the glass. Its not much to look at, but its black so what more can you ask for, it's a stout. I guess I was disappointed in the head retention. The aroma was kind of muted at first but as I waited for the glass to warm it picked up. Fresh chocolate, roasted grains and a hint of fresh strawberries in the nose. The taste is much better then last year. There is a very distinguishing line between the stout and the strawberries. Up front is chocolate and roasted grains and the finish is fresh strawberries. The mouth feel is medium body with medium carbonation and a dry finish. They do a really good job of giving you chocolate and fresh strawberries. I'm glad the strawberries do not come out sweet or sour in this beer and preserve their natural taste. Overall I enjoy this beer from Ranger Creek and will continue to drink it while its available.

Appearance: Pouring offers very dark body, verging on black, with a small light tan head, with modest retention. The glass wall is adorned by a thin, finely-beaded and irregular, but unbroken ring.. Before a strong light at the narrowest point of the glass, some ruby highlights can be seen.
Aroma: The aroma is generally as expected, with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. The strawberry is, alas, quite faint, seeming natural, but overcome by the strong malt aromas.
Taste: Opens with dark chocolate and cold coffee notes, followed by a bit of strawberry jam. As the taste progresses, the cold coffee flavor dominates and carries through to the end. There is a bit of char at the rather dry finish.
Mouth feel: Quite rich and full, very good, with pleasant light and soft carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Ranger Creek Strawberry Milk Stout is pleasant and drinkable. It could be improved with more strawberry flavor. Still, its not bad, at all.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.

From a can picked up at the brewery. Black color with a finger of dark brown head. Smells of roasted malt and milk. Medium feel. Roasted malt, chocolate, and strawberry with a dry finish. Wasn't sure what to expect, but this turned out to be a nice dry stout.

This one was surprisingly good. It pours jet black with a huge slowly dissipating head. There are nice notes of strawberry and chocolate on the nose. Surprisingly, there is actually a good amount of strawberry flavor throughout the drink and it gets stronger as it warms. The flavor is a bit artificial, but this is still a very nice beer.
