Slightly better than the ratings would lead you to believe although a touch of oxidization from the bottle 7/2013. Overall a deep mahogany pour with a dark fruit tangy smell with a hint of oxidization. Taste follows the nose on the dark fruit side, touch of cherry raspberry and oak. Bit of leather in the taste . Feel is fairly easy to drink me nice depth

Got this bottle in a trade from @Brogen13. Bottle marked 7/1/13.
Poured a murky brown, slight head dissipating quickly into nothing.
Pronounced aromas of oak, bourbon, vanilla, honey, cherry, and slight lemony sourness.
A lot of the Bourbon/Oak come through in the taste along with the lemony sourness. Mild cherry flavor on the sides of the tongue and a nice refreshing sour finish.
The body could be a bit thicker. Also the carbonation is quite low.
Overall, very refreshing but has a very satisfying warmth between the oakiness and 8% abv. I would totally drink this again, not sure why a fairly low rating. The only problem I could see is the low carbonation. Not sure if that is from the style or the age. Even with such slight carbonation I really enjoyed this beer.

Bottle poured into a chimay goblet.
A- Rusty bottle cap under thick black wax, pour relatively boring. Deep red color, muddled up, foggy, little bubbles. Boring, honestly...but an interesting color.
S- Big Caramel on the nose, vanilla, oaky, funky, red wine, malty, green apple peels, nose is definitely nice.
T- initial burst of sweetness and vanillin followed by tartness. Mid palette is oak and sour apple. Huge lingering oak and vanilla on the back end. Despite my shitty rating, there is quite a bit of complexity on this one. It is sweet, but dry, which is obviously conflicting but somehow comes together here.
M- doesn't look like it, but there is plenty of carb here. Nice and prickly. Medium mouthfeel, drinkable But not crushable due to the 8% abv.
O- This was a surprisingly good beer. I know ranger creek has had some issues with these small batch beers, mostly infection issues if memory serves me right. Figure you can't go wrong with something that is already supposed to be sour right? Glad I did.

Bottled: 7-2 -2013
Appearance
A thick/rich looking non-transparrent medium earthy brown. Any head to speak of relatively white/off white in color and quickly dissipating
Nose
Tart fruit, banana, red apple, almost has a red wine nose
Palate
Very tart, light mouthfeel and easy drinking. Slight alcohol note, fruit, cherries, figs, yeast, sherry that ends with a slightly tart and aged fruit finish.
Overall
This beer has a wild and interesting blend of tart fruit and ale characters, it is light yet slammed with flavor . The sour elements aren’t over the top but rather add dynamic and are surprisingly refreshing. Batch No. 6 won the 2013 Bronze at the World Beer Championships and for good reason.
