Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark red almost brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Mild stringy lace. The aroma starts off with some sweet to bitter grassy and piney hops. Light citrusy and floral hops show a light presence over some bready and caramel malts. The flavor brings together all of those previously mentioned aromas to blend. Nice aftertaste of malts to hops. Quick dry piney finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fine sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Appropriate harshness as an AIPA. Overall, good American IPA that I would have again if I could get it.

A light amber with lots of rising carbonation, and a finger of off white head that lingers and sticks to the glass. The aroma is citrus fruit, a little tropical note, and a small bit of pine. Also picking up a good dose of caramel malt. In the flavor, I get some bready caramel malt and mild but nice citrus and minor tropical vibes. The bitterness supports and balances the malt, nicely. The feel is slightly below average carbonation, fairly dry overall, and medium thin body. Good aroma, and decent flavor, but, a little lacking in the feel department. I 'd definitely try it on tap, though.

Solid amber body; thick, foamy head. Citrus, floral hop nose; sweet; some grainy tones in the aroma. Bread-like malt flavors; nice hop bitterness. Smooth, heavy-like body; resinous; crisp; some residual sugar body yet dry overall.

How does one describe a very fine, nicely balanced IPA that tastes great and drinks well yet doesn't fall into the "coveted" trend setting category? One gets tired of using the same descriptive adjectives for repeatedly fine offerings. Perhaps the problem is my lack of descriptive writing skills. A fine journeyman American India pale ale?!? That's weak and pathetic. I don't know. Regardless, the beer itself is a tasty, nice malt-centric based IPA with some respectable hop bitterness bringing the finish to a close.

From the can, it pours amber with a one inch off white head. Nose detects some pine and citrus. The mouth revels in the hoppy malt flavor. Enjoyable!

Can poured into English pint glass.

L - Much like a Session, pours a golden amber with some orange haze. Like almost every other beer I've reviewed, finger of foam that dissipates quick and leaves a good lacing around the glass.

S - Strong pine and grapefruit/citrus up front, light caramel malt finish.

T - Bitter grapefruit, pine, metallic aftertaste, not much malt/sweetness to balance it out, a very dry hoppy finish.

F - Clean, medium-body with some creaminess that balances out at least the mouthfeel. Medium carbonation, very drinkable.

O - Another solid brew from the folks up north. Feels like I'm out camping when I drink this. Good for when I want something a bit on the hoppy side, but not overpowering. A fine IPA I hope to have more of.

Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy light tan head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Pine and grapefruit, bready malt, and a littlle sweetness.

T: Pine, citrus, grapefruit zest, a little lemon and orange, bready malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Good old school IPA. Maybe not super special, but nicely balanced and well executed.
