My wife was looking to buy me a birthday gift, and I said "beer". Boy am I glad she went to Bin 905. Ended up with a 750m of Choffe Dobblen IPA and a four pack of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. I've since returned on a number of occasions. Although touted for its wine selection, its beer offering is nothing to frown at and is tucked away at the back of the store. Solid selection of top rated beer from all over the world (American, Canadian, Belgian, Japan, etc). The staff is quite knowledgeable about their beers and can offer advice depending on the type or flavours you're seeking. Prices are competitive, and I found that Dieu Du Ciel pricing was somewhat cheaper than some of the other establishments in town. If you're in the area and are looking for some top-rated craft, this is definitely a worthy stop.
went in on a whim from searching for mikkeller brews on liquor connect. wasnt much on shelf, grabbed what i could. once i started talking to one of the staff that knew beer, they pulled a bunch out of the back cooler that wasnt on shelf for me. also gave me a cute 6 packer reusable bag for my beer. would go back again
Given that this wine shop carries so little beer it is really outstanding the quality of brew's available. The cooler in the back is anything but large but is packed with an absurd selection of brews of varying styles and locations. Pricing is on par with others if not every so slightly cheaper. Many unique brews I have not seen anywhere else in Calgary. A good place to head to if near mission and wanting some special beers.
As a wine store, its focus is clearly that, yet the staff are reasonably knowledgeable in beer as well.
I have nothing bad to say at all about Bin 905. I wish they had a larger beer selection because im sure they would stock even rarer and stranger and more unobtainable brews, but as its focus is wine, they do a superb job in the beer they are able to carry.
