"This year's beer is a dark ale brewed with cinnamon with vanilla, coffee and cocoa nibs added. It was inspired by a fantastic dessert that we used to share with Virginia at our favorite restaurant. The Brown ale leads with a bold coffee and subtle cinnomon (sic) aroma. Complex malt overtones quickly give way to a chocolate, coffee and vanilla mix of satisfying bliss." Brewed in the style of an American Brown Ale with Chocolate, Vanilla, Cinnamon and Coffee added. Available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy foam head of a golden caramel color over a sparsely carbonated maple brown body with high clarity. Retention is good and lacing is light and spotty. 3.75

(Smell) Very potent cinnamon and vanilla cream forward, sweet like dessert with delicate raw coffee bean undertones. Smooth brown malts with light, toasted grain and a bread body. Potency is moderate. 4

(Taste) More coffee flavor up front in the flavor, with lesser impact from the cinnamon and vanilla, the former generating a nip of earthy spice up front. Decent cocoa nibs on the finish, smooth, clean toasted bread malt body with little alcohol presence. Enjoyable and highly drinkable, yet a bit polarized in its flavors considering the range of potential that a beer with vanilla, chocolate, coffee and cinnamon would be expected to have. Overall a very enjoyable dessert-appropriate ale. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) Texture is silky, smooth, lightly chewy, very clean, moderately dry. Carbonation is light, generating a moderate frothiness and a lightly crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is slightly sweet over grainy and earthy bitter. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters to note. 3.5

(Overall) An impressive dark ale that seems to get better (or perhaps just more complex - to its benefit) with each passing year. I can't imagine cramming much more into a bottle but hopefully the brewery will develop a more even balance between all of the flavors in this bottle for a truly decadent dessert ale. I'm looking forward to Terrapin continuing this series (they skipped bottling in 2014) as the Reunion series is an often overlooked favorite of mine. 3.75

Pours the color of dark tea, with some golden-orange highlights. The head was about a 1/4 of an inch, and then it went away to a trace that stayed with it for the whole thing. On the aroma, there's some nice hickory and cinnamon notes, strong presence of vanilla. This is a tasty beer: more vanilla, sweet caramel, coffee (I'm not sure what beans they used, but it tastes like Maxwell House, back). There's a bit of peppery spice, too, and some raisins. Not too much carbonation, and it's not too thick and sugary, which is what I was fearing. I'd buy another one and drink it with pleasure.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, opaque, hazelnut brown coloring with a fluffy, light, cream-tan colored head that quickly settles into a filmy surface coating. Aromas of roasted nut and chocolate forward, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon in the backbone, as well as a subtle roasted bitter coffee character. Nicely blended and inviting nose. Flavors are roasted forward, with a hazelnut mocha coffee blend all over the palate. Some bittersweet chocolate highlights, as well as subtle vanilla and woody notes. The cinnamon is there, but kind of takes a backseat to the other flavors. The body is light and dry, with a roasted sweet mocha and nut aftertaste. The finish is slick, clean, and dry. Solid representation of the style, with a well balanced, big palate. Nice brew.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass.

A: Beautiful rich dark brown color. In the light it appears a mahogany, ruby color. Three finger tan head with an aggressive pour. Looks wonderful in the glass. Great creamy lacing follows through.
S: First nose I get a great amount of coffee and chocolate. Smells like a sweet stout, not overly sweet though. Definite cinnamon and roasted malt, but they play a backseat to the coffee and cocoa nibs. I can get a small hint of vanilla after several whiffs and swirls of the glass.
T: More vanilla here that creates a creaminess. Strong chocolate and coffee with a cinnamon spice that is a great compliment. Everything melds well.
MF: A bit thin though very silky smooth. Everything blends pretty well throughout the beer.
O: This is excellent. And with some age these flavors really work together. This was one of my favorite beers of the year thus far. The only thing I wish was different was a fuller mouthfeel. But, this isn't a stout...not really sure what category I would put it in actually. Great beer though!
