One word of advice: do not drink this beer cold or anywhere close. You will barely pick up on any cinnamon and definitely no French toast if you drink this below 50 degrees. However, at closer to room temperature, the beer becomes more like the description although still not what I was hoping for.

From 01/30/16 notes. On tap at The Cloverleaf Tavern in NJ paired with a cinnamon roll...pretty sweet.

Pours a pitch black color with one inch of dark tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Cinnamon for sure, roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, bitter coffee, milk chocolate, and cream. Thick body and low carbonation.

Overall a very good beer and slightly better than the normal WnB. Worth checking out for sure.

What a coffee and cinnamon bomb. Nothing more than WnB with a healthy dose of cinnamon. That doesn't diminish the beer though. Flavored are very complimentary. Coffee smacks you in the face first. The first hints of cinnamon come in immediately afterwards. Coffee fades a bit as cinnamon becomes more pronounced. A solid chocolatey malt backbone is there throughout.

Overall: not complicated, yet great. I love this thick and viscous cinnamon/coffee bomb. One complaint: the base beer costs about $3.50 a 12 ounce. I wish they would back off on the price, considering the only real addition is cinnamon. I paid almost $14 for a bomber and think $10 would be fair.

Poured into tulip.

Look: Very dark beer with a nice brown head.
Smell: The smell is mostly coffee grounds. Also get some nice chocolate notes.
Taste: Bitter coffee dominates the palate. Semi-sweet chocolate notes. Almost get some lactose flavors though I know this isn't a milk stout. Very little cinnamon...I probably wouldn't have picked up on it if I didn't already know it was there.
Feel: The feel of the beer is a little thinner than I'd like, but I feel as though this beer wasn't brewed to be a big thick beer. Slight prickle from carbonation.

Overall: I think this is a good coffee stout. Lots of nice bitter coffee notes in a very drinkable stout. I'm slightly disappointed at how much cinnamon I picked up. I thought I was gonna be drinking liquid cinnamon rolls when I read the description. Haha. The only beer that has been able to accomplish that for me is Xocoveza Charred b1. Glad I got to try this beer but I probably won't be seeking it out again.

Not very different from regular Wake 'n Bake but that's not a bad thing. Very nice coffee flavor with just a touch of cinnamon and a creamy texture from the oatmeal.

64 oz growler poured into a teku

A- Black with a four finger mocha head.

S- Coffee, some dark chocolate, hints of cinnamon and sugar.

T- Roasted coffee, chocolate, some hints of toffee, some cinnamon.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A fun stout that is easy drinking. Nice balance of flavors, thought that it would be super sweet but the coffee bitterness makes this great. Worth picking up.

Look - Black as night. Two finger mocha head. A damn good looking beer.
Smell - A total coffee bomb on the nose. Not getting a whole lot of cinnamon.
Taste - At first, coffee completely dominates the palate in true WnB form. But after this beer warms a bit.....that's when the magic happens and it really opens up. That's when the cinnamon roll flavors start to pop.

Overall - I had high expectations from this beer and it did not disappoint.

22oz bottle into a snifter
2015 vintage

A: Opaque black, 1 fingers width of tan head, dissipates down slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. 4.5

S: Smells like breakfast. Tons of coffee, chocolate malt, roasty. Decent amount of cinnamon. Subtle sweetness. Incredible. 4.5

T: Very roasted, coffee up front and cinnamon on the finish. Semi-sweet cocoa, oatmeal creaminess, significant bitterness from the coffee. 4.25

M/D: Fuller side of medium body, fairly smooth, carbonation appropriate, drinkability is very good. 4.25

O: Excellent beer. I love regular WnB, and this is quite similar with just a touch of cinnamon and a bit sweeter; and I love this beer as well. 4.5

Thanks to my friend Scotty for helping me locate a bottle of this specialty stout.

This is basically the standard Wake-n-Bale recipe with a touch of cinnamon on the finish. However, I did not really get any sweet "sticky bun-type" notes or any cinnamon anywhere other than at the very end.

That said, I thought that the coffee notes were stronger in this variant than any other Wake-n-Bake version I have had in the past.

2015 vintage bomber, enjoyed fresh and poured into a tulip.

L: Pours a thick opaque black displaying a ruddy brown tint when swirled, with a thin tan head that recedes to a ring leaving decent lacing. Identical to regular W-n-B except with a bit of a thicker head and decidedly stickier lacing perhaps due to, respectively, bubble nucleation and oils from the presence of cinnamon.

S: The same coffee aroma of regular W-n-B except with a strong cinnamon component that intensifies as the beer warms, eventually all but overtaking the coffee smell. Very nice.

T: Cinnamon and coffee hit the tongue first, the cinnamon note gradually building to overpower the coffee flavor and mingling well with the oatmeal to remind one of a granola bar, with a sharp alcohol bite in the middle that overpowers the other flavors until recovery. The finish is sweet, and I could see how other people are imagining an icing quality to it, but I do think it's imagined. The overall flavor is reminiscent of Mexican hot chocolate, much like Stone Xocoveza but neither as complex nor as smooth.

F: Medium-full and satisfying rolled across the tongue, on par with the original but with an additional slightly resinous quality (presumably cinnamon oils) producing a film that sticks to the tongue after each sip, which alongside the sweet finish adds to the oft-perceived icing illusion but isn't exactly a positive quality.

O: This is more interesting than the original and quite tasty but still overly harsh for the ABV or, rather, exactly as harsh as the ABV would make one expect if one hadn't had the pleasure of experiencing smoother high-alcohol brews. I'm glad I was able to get a hold of this and enjoyed it throughly but, like the original, it needs some mellowing out as that sharp alcohol bite really detracts from the experience. I like my stouts better warm, and this stuff becomes almost intolerably alcoholic as it approaches room temperature. Still, a very tasty brew and would buy again next year!

Big smooth roasted coffee notes. Cinnamon comes through more on the taste, but it remains subtle throughout. There's a sweet vanilla on the middle of the palate. Mouth feel is medium. This was very enjoyable.

Subtle cinnamon on the nose, but a nice wallop of it on the pallet...I even got a hint of the icing flavor they boast. This is a fantastic WnB variant that only comes in second to the French Toast.

A: Black, opaque, 1inch brown head, good lacing

S: Strong coffee smell, cinnamon almost like hot chili, sweet cinnamon roll

T: Strong coffee, much like regular wake n bake, heat from the cinnamon again like chilies, sweet malts

M: Full, a bit of cinnamon heat

O: A great stout no doubt but the cinnamon heat tends to take away a bit to me. I loved the regular wake n bake, no need to add anything to perfection.

pours a blackish brown with a thick head that sticks around. nose; (cold), dry baker's chocolate and very light hops - (warm), coffee, all-spice and light butter/toffee. either i got an "off" bottle or the power of suggestion is responsible for all the reports of the nose smelling "exactly like a cinnamon roll". taste; roasted malt, coffee grounds, earthy hops, baker's chocolate, and dry-spicy cinnamon with some butter & nutty astringents on the aftertaste. medium+ carbonation and medium mouthfeel. after having the wax-topped tiramasu-hoo and blackberry cobbler maggie's series bombers from terrapin this year, i expected more character. this is a decent spiced stout, but it's definitely the tamer of the maggie's bomber releases so far. a nice imperial stout with standout dry cinnamon notes.

Attractive appearance with nice head for a beer at this ABV. The beer brings out aromas and flavors of a cinnamon roll but it's a lot less in your face than I expected. The cinnamon in particular was really light. As it warmed the flavors came out more. I had ridiculously high expectations for this one and while it didn't quite live up to them it's still one really nice beer.

Excellent looking: dark red-brown with a durable ring on top.
The aroma is not as great as the name suggests but this is due in part to judicious use of spicing that eventually produces a more balanced flavor. The light cinnamon blends more harmoniously with the coffee.
O: worth seeking out.

Pours with a nice thick head. Has a great nose, real cinnamon roll smell. Mouthfeel is creamy and substantial. Taste is Damn spot on like a liquid cinnamon roll bit yet I'm not blown away. Tastes a bit muted in some ways. This is a really good beer but it lacks a bit. Great concept for a beer and with a few tweaks could be outstanding.

Terrapin Brewery's Wake 'N' Bake Cofee Oatmeal Stout is one of the best coffee oatmeal stout's I had ever had. Some stout's have a finish I describe as "like licking an ash tray". This one is different A hint of sweetness and minimal alcohol taste. A very nice sipping beer, and with the higher ABV, sipping is the way to drink it.

Reviewed from notes. Twenty-two ounce bottle shared by someone (thanks) during the FW Bretta Rose release in Buellton.

A: Pours from a doubly waxed bottle black with a solid 1" thick mocha head which fades to a thin cap and leaves spotty lace.

N: Well integrated cinnamon, roasted coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, dark fruits, nutty.

T: Follows nose with cinnamon and coffee dominant.

M: Full body and medium carbonation. Smooth, creamy, cinnamon and roasty coffee finish.

O: Enjoyed this version very much. Great breakfast beer.

Picked this up from a great trade with Evan! While the waxed bottle looks cool, it's a pain in the ass to open! Pitch black pour with a two finger caramel-colored head with good retention and great lacing. Fresh roasted coffee dominates the nose along with plenty of cinnamon and vanilla. Basically smells like a Cinnabon. The taste follows suit with the cinnamon taking command, along with hints of roasty coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, espresso, and subtle oats. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth and really creamy with a warm, slightly dry finish. Overall, the balance and drinkability really surprised me. I was expecting a syrupy, gimmicky, sugar bomb, but instead got a complex, incredibly balanced, and delicious beer. Highly recommended!

Bit of disparity between B1 and 2.

B1 was tons of cinnamon rolls on the nose. Pretty fine taste too. Beer was rated a 4.6 originally here.

B2:

L: Fine, but seems a little thinner than regular WnB.

S: Faint cinnamon, coffee roast but not as intense as regular.

T: Very much the same. It's good but the cinnamon is too faint. A bit disappointing.

F: Feels a little thinner than regular.

O: This batch was a bit of a disappointment compared to the first, but it's still a good beer. I enjoyed regular WnB this past year more though.

A shared bomber at a local brewery. Thanks!

Pours exceedingly dark brown, almost black with minimal tan head, which drops to thin ring.
Smell is rich, malt, oatmeal, cinnamon, a sweetness reminiscent of the sugary goodness on a cinnamon roll, vanilla. Great balance and a set of scents I've never inhaled in a beer.
Taste, once warmed, is malty, dark fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, a hazelnut-like note as well as that sugary sweetness of the topping. (Getting hungry) Phenomenal stuff.
Smooth, rich, slightly drying. Fairly full bodied, warming. I'd drink this any day, it's terrific.

Pretty amazing version of an already solid coffee stout.

I was Hoping the french toast version of WnB would have won at first but after drinking several bottles and growlers of Cinnamon Roll'd, I digress. What an amazing brew.

Fantastic moutfeel, aroma, taste.
