A big burst of carbonation when opened. Fairly clear, light-golden color with an overly huge white head filling the entire glass. Smoke and pineapple heavy in the nose, along with some nutmeg and medicinal notes. More of a rauchbier than a helles in the flavor. Big smoke upfront with a helles taste in the background. The pineapple is subtle, but present, and the entire beer is pretty-well balanced on the whole. Rauchbiers aren't really my thing, but I can appreciate how well-crafted this is and think a lot of people would really enjoy it.

Hazy pale yellow body, topped by two fingers of rocky snow white foam. Spotty lace drops.

Appealing pineapple aroma with bakery back up.

Soft malt beginning. Light pineapple before the swallow. Strong smoke finish. Needs more pineapple. Needs less smoke.

Light tingly mouthfeel, proper for a helles.

Don't care for the smoke and pineapple together, and the while the helles might have been enough for the pineapple, more body is needed to stand up to both the pineapple and the smoke.

Pours into a 1/2 liter stein a light straw color with a large blooming bone white head that settles very slowly into a frothy mass leaving broken globs of lace behind.A bit grilled pineapple and toasted grain mainly in the nose, the smoke is light.A nice fuller feel with the carbonation not getting in the way.An interesting but I have to say a little strange palate, pretty sweet from the the grilled pineapple with some smoky "meatiness" wich makes for an odd combo,a light drying toastiness in the finish.Well I wanted to drink something light today to enjoy outside on this 70 degree day but I also wanted something with character....this has it,maybe a little too much character in fact.

Pale golden body was very clear, showcasing a steady stream of bubbles feeding a one finger thick head. The smell was clearly smoky, with a faint fruity backing, not clearly identifiable as pineapple. The taste was quite bright, with a great balance between the generous helping of noble hops and the pale and caramel Pilsner malt. The smoked malt was less evident in the taste than the smell, and there was lingering sourness, which I imagine was the results of the acidulated malt and the pineapple remnants. This was in no way a fruit beer, as that influence was very minor. Very light in feel, and very easy to drink, this pineapple express was much to my liking.

A: This poured a nearly clear straw with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like smoked barley and earthy biscuit, with some sweet pineapple and sour lager yeast.
T: It tasted like smoked bacon and sour lager yeast, with some earthy biscuit and a little pineapple. It had a clean bittersweet and sour aftertaste.
M: It was watery with lots of carbonation. Fizzy body.
D: This was a really interesting beer, blending rauchbier and helles styles, with a twist of pineapple. The result was a well balanced scent and taste that were unique, although not quite delicious. The body was ok, and the finish was smooth, so it was pretty easy to drink. Fun to try once, especially during a spring cookout.

Poured into a large pilsner glass. Hazy bright yellow.Fizzy white head clings a bit then settles to a thin cap. Lots of fat bubbles cling at first, then a steady flow of tiny bubbles rise.
Aroma is malty, with some spicy hops and lemon. Subtle bright fruit is vaguely pineapple-y.
Taste hits wheaty sweet, biscuity, followed by a lemony, grassy hop bite. Finishes dry but not bitter.
Mouthfeel is thin, spritzy. Vaguely chalky.
Hews closely to style, but the pineapple and smoke are AWOL. A solid German lager that drinks well, but the mouthfeel is lacking.

A: Pours a hazy to cloudy medium straw yellow in color with significant amounts of active visible carbonation rapidly rising from the bottom along the outside edge of the glass and some faint golden yellow highlights. The beer has a two finger tall pillowy white head that slowly reduces to a large medium thick patch and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of smoked malts with a hints of smoked meat as well as some light hints of lemon citrus. There is a light aroma of grilled pineapple as well, with that slightly caramelized sweetness.

T: Upfront there is a moderate to strong flavor of grainy and smoked malts with a hint of "meatiness" from the smoking that is reminiscent of nice smoked meats as well as a light amount of wheat. There is a light amount of sweetness from the grilled pineapple towards the finish and a touch of iodine. Minimal amounts of bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Chewy and creamy.

O: Definitely an interesting idea and an interesting brew but not sure that I would grab another of these. I wish the pineapple flavors and aromas were slightly more pronounced but there is a lot going on in this brew.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow orange, one finger thick white head fades quckly, nothing on the glass. Smell: light wood smoke, white grape and nectarine notes, light breadiness. Taste is similar but with the addition of a moderately spicy hopping. Not getting much pineapple other than the impression of that acidic pineapple aftertaste. Light-medium bodied, creamy feel in the middle. This is a pretty good helles, but doesn't deliver on the promises made on the label.

22 oz bottle served in a lager glass.

Pour is hazy and golden, with a bubbly and durable off-white head. Good, sticky lacing.

Aroma: fruity, with a bit more pineapple than smoked malts.

Flavor: less sweet (mildly bitter) and fruity, and a touch more smokey than suggested by the aroma. Malt base comes through clearly, while the hops are most obvious in the mild bittering. Good balance and mix of flavor.

Feel: light-medium body, with high, lively carbonation; light astringency.

O: Distinct; good mix of pineapple and malts, with balancing hops.

Pours light lemon gold with a slight haze, half inch of sugar white head.

Smells of cane sugar, pineapple, lemon, and some grassy malt.

Tastes of pineapple and grassy malts. There's a bit of dry woodiness as well.

Medium body with a soft carbonation.

A fairly decent lighter beer with some nice fruity flavor. If you're into that, this is pretty enjoyable. Drinks very easy and is a session candidate. If you don't like fruit beers, you won't care for this one though.
