Clear gold, white head dissipates quickly, leaves almost nothing. Not much nose; Mild flavor, not bad. Moderately carbonated. It's not bad, but nothing special.

Look: Pale straw color with a one inch head of medium sized bubbles. Light visible carbonation.
Smell: Tangerine and other citrus.
Taste: Modesty malt sweetness with a resinous, pithy bitterness.
Feel: Feels light in the mouth. Dry and crisp finish.
Overall: It’s a pretty straight up bitter brew. Not a lot of complex things going on. Just a simple offering to the god of hops.

Initial impression from a can:

Citrusy and tangy with a hint of Simcoe's yogurty oniony character. I don't get Centennial's pine - just its generic floral character (think SuperCascade). Main hop flavour is citrus with some vague tropical fruit backing it up alongside the aforementioned. Amarillo - my favourite hop - sadly gets lost in the mix, never injecting its resinous hop flavour into the mix.

Pale malt is obvious in the malt backbone, but I don't find the caramalt (which to me is a good thing). CaraPilsner/Weyermann is present when I know to look for it, but in a blind taste test all I'd get is 2-row/pale malt.

Balanced if a bit subdued in terms of hop pungency for my tastes. Citra does dominate as the label promises, but I can't say this showcases Citra as well as the best beers in the style (e.g. Kern River's expressions thereof) nor does it harmonize with the other hops as well as Citra usually does with a hop varietal like Mosaic.

In any case, it's highly drinkable with a one-two punch of Citra citrus and Simcoe yogurt at the forefront. A beer I'd recommend to any IPA lover except those who dislike Simcoe's oniony/garlicky and yogurty expressions.

Low B- (3.30) / WORTHY

***
01/10/20 CAN:

Coating, a bit oily, medium-bodied. Citrusy and slightly oily hop profile.

Not a standout IPA by any stretch, especially considering the hops utilized, but it's drinkable and enjoyable for what it is.

The look is solid from this 12oz. can poured into a 20oz. weizen glass. There is a big puffy three finger head over an orange hued beer. I would describe the carbonation as medium light in this slightly hazy brew. After several minutes the cap settled to a thin layer with thick lacing on the side of the glass.
The aroma is the typical citrus common with this style.
The taste is bitter-sweet and not overly dry at the end, giving it more of a crisp finish.
This is an easy IPA for me to enjoy because of the sweetness that tones down the strong bitter bite.

This guy looks and smells great. A vivid semi-translucent orange/gold with a creamy, frothy head. Smells of citrus, pineapple, and pine. The taste and feel do not follow through with the expectation on the nose however. There's a backbone lacking to it that, while it makes it easier drinking, the body of the beer seems to missing. Would almost call this a session IPA if it werent for the still considerable 5.9% ABV. Overall, really enjoyable beer for those who don't like the heaviness of a typical IPA

Pored from 12 oz. can into IPA glass. Fluffy head that recedes quickly leaving a ring of lacing. Golden clear color. Wow. Very citrusy aroma. Sort of orange and lime combination. Smells like summer. Taste is pronounced but not overwhelming citrus hops but not very bitter. It’s a well balanced easy drinking IPA; perfect for hot days. I will definitely pick this one up again. Terrapin is producing a selection of solid beers in Georgia. I’m glad they have distribution in my area.

12 oz. can dated best by 10/17/19. IPA glass. Terrapin cans are great.
Looks promising, medium gold cloudy body, light head fades fast to very little misty thin top.
Smell is faint for me but I'm stuffy today.
Taste is a good safe versatile ipa : light clean and fresh, well done. Not super exciting, but certainly good.
Feel is nice and light, like a supersized mega brewery makes lite beer haha- great summer ipa slammer choice.
Overall, a solid summer bargain ipa, not as good as Highland Mandarina, or New Belgium Citradelic etc, but decent enough tonight. Would not hunt for it. Would accept politely.
My scale: 4 = acceptable, 4.25 repeater. 4.5 & up near perfect

From the bottom of the can: "BEST BY 10/17/19" the next part is near the edge but reads "13:" then under that "19186.187.1"

Appearance: A fluffy white head that is medium-large rests above light gold body with nice clarity. Great head retention and frothy lacing.

Aroma: The beer smells like orange peels, lemon zest, and just a touch of pine.

Taste: There is a nice tangerine and lime flavor. There isn't a depth of flavor but what is here is very clean tasting and pronounced.

Mouthfeel: The beer is clean and easy to drink with a medium-low bitterness and a light body. Carbonation feels a bit low.

Overall: This beer does a fantastic job of showcasing hop flavors and aromas. The can states that this "Citra-hipped IPA captures the majestic flavor of citrusy hops" and they couldn't be more right. The hop flavor is bright with citrus flavor. It is a very enjoyable beer. I recommend seeking it out and I would try it again. The bitterness on the beer felt a bit low and the carbonation was borderline as well but as a whole it was an outstanding beer, given how well the hops were on display.

The clear dark golden yellow colored beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1” ivory head that recedes slowly but visibly to a cap and then a thin island of foam on the surface and a circle of foam around the glass while leaving a circle and web of lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates several small patches of lacing, most of which slide back down to the liquid.

The aromas include lots of tropical fruits along with citric zest from the hops. The fruits seem to include mango, a bit of peach, some orange and citric zest. There is also some light biscuit and caramel from the malt.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with lots of tropical fruits such as mango, some peach, some orange and citric zest. The biscuity caramel sweetness from the malt is way in the background and hardly noticeable.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and lightly crips with the active finely bubbled carbonation. The flavor profile begins changing early on with an initial touch of sweetness that then gives way to the solid bitterness and fruit flavors from the hops. The finish begins as the fruit flavors begin to fade leaving the citric zest bitterness to more slowly fade away to a dry ending in the back of the mouth.

On the whole this is a solid, well-made IPA that I’ve enjoyed drinking and would be fine with having again. The fruits and citrus show nicely and the bitterness is solid and persistent making this drinkable if you want IPAs that are solid, well made and drinkable That said I’ll not be going out of my way to have again simply because there are so many comparable choices brewed locally.

Almost clear golden color with solid head.
Hoppy. Fruity and some citrus notes to the nose. Tastes like it smells, with hops dominating the back end. Frothy and coating with a hint more than light mouthfeel. Aftertaste is hop forward and the slight bitterness stays around. A good brew, above average but not oustanding.

Too sweet and not balanced well for me. This is a beer you could kick back at a beach with sipping a few of these. But for an IPA it fails. I think they tried to copy Jai Alai but failed with not enough hops.

Look: The look is a typical IPA with a medium golden hue and a decent head. The lacing is what is to be expected of the style.
Smell: The smell is slightly piney, slightly earthy, slightly citrusy, and slightly fruity. A typical single west coast style IPA smell.
Taste: The taste is hoppy, not like an NEIPA or a West Coast IPA, but hoppy nonetheless. It also has a good malt flavor to it, that accents it’s fruityness.
Feel: The mouthfeel is very typical of an IPA. Overall: This a very easy drinking beer and one of my go-to’s. It’s sweetish, hoppy, and fruity. If this beer is available to you, I suggest to try it.

After a Wisconsin winter of drinking vodka just to stay warm, I’d call this a sessionable beer. And really it is at 5.9% abv. This tastes great and is a favorite ipa on a warm day or for relaxing after a long day at work. Great citrus smell, but not overwhelming. Great mouth feel. Probably a great starter ipa for people new to the beer style.

Taste- citrus hops stand out but don’t overpower, subtle bitterness with excellent flavor
Feel- crisp and clean with a nice tropical summer day feel
Overall- citrus is my favorite hop so I am partial to this beer. Very refreshing and a great representation of a very tasty hop. A must try for any ipa lover

LOOK: Pours a light amber with a slightly off white head, with some solid side glass lacing.
AROMA: Citrus of mango and some grapefruit, bread malts also noted.
TASTE: I get some toasted bread malts along with some mango citrus hops.
Good balance, mildly bitter.

Great looking beer delivers a thick head. Smells flat with a hint of citrus. Smooth taste with a little hoppy bite. Feels a bit harsh on the back of your throat. Overall, like most West Coast IPA wanna be styles, this one is pretty drinkable And worth a try.

Nice amber color upon first pour with little bit of lacing. Great citrusy aroma with a nice amount of that beloved piney aroma intertwined for a pretty well balanced smell. Great citrusy taste with a hint of pine and some floral taste thrown in for good measure. Finished nice and crisp and coats the palate very well. I think I may even like this as much as Terrapin's Hopsecutioner, which I love. Highly recommended for a hot & humod summer day!

Very tasty well-crafted IPA from a solid brewery. Nice golden amber color with nice head and some lingering lacing. Smells of fruity hops, less floral hops and some malt and caramel. Tastes of fruity hops - orange, lemon, grapefruit, mango, papaya - as well as some citrus rind. Malt backbone, caramel, biscuit, floral and herbal hops also very present. Barely a trace of bitterness. Finishes clean, mild mouthfeel, just enough carbonation. I could enjoy many of these on a hot summer day.

Solid effort from Terrapin as they go West Coast. This IPA is light, refreshing, with a gentle bite that would go well with a Newport Beach sunset. Golden, both light and substantial all at once.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/2/2018. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink; with the modestly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. Awesome balanced mix of juicy, dank, and vibrant hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Loved the hop profile as expected, great showcase of the Zythos, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra hops. A very enjoyable offering.

Amber orange color with a thick head with decent retention.
Aroma with notes of grapefruit, oranges, pine and mild caramel. A bit tired at this stage.
Citrusy flavor with notes of pine, grapefruit, fresh oranges, some mango and lots of tangerines.
Dry aftertaste with a long lasting and clean bitterness out of its 80 IBUs.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Very good refreshing and bitter west coast IPA, though I found it perfectly balanced. Just great execution on a traditional citrusy recipe. Good option for frequently having in the cooler.

12oz can, best by 07/02/18. Clear golden body is capped with a creamy off-white head that holds good retention. Tropical Citra hop aroma with some light caramel. For flavor, a light caramel malt and maybe Munich malt backbone melds well with the tropical mango, Mandarin orange, grapefruit, and piney hops. Medium body, moderately bitter with a semi-dry finish. Overall, a simple yet delicious Citra hopped IPA - I waffled on buying it because I already had a lot in my hands, but I'm glad I got it.
