Terrapin HI-5 IPA brewed by Terrapin Beer Company, with an ABV of 5.90% This American IPA pours out a nice golden amber color with a nice white head. There is a lot of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness, citrus, earthy grains and malts. There is a lot going on in the smell of this IPA. Now for the taste, it is Bold with flavors. You first pick up on citrus hop bitterness, then a nice smooth earthy grains and malts. This American IPA has a lot of the same notes as most American IPA's on the market, not saying that is a bad thing. I like how smooth this brew goes down. The body of Terrapin HI-5 IPA is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. This IPA would go nice on a hot summer day, or a nice dinner. The mouth feel is Bold, citrus, hoppy, clean, smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Terrapin HI-5 IPA a 4.25 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity to. Terrapin Beer Company, did a real nice job with this American IPA.

Rather than call this a California style IPA, this should be called Hollywood IPA. It looks good, but it's thin, weak, and lacking in any real substance. With all the other IPA choices available, this is not a beer I'd buy again. Plenty of hops flavor, with a definite citrus front, but not smooth or particularly flavorful. At least the can is pretty.

There are so many blimin' IPAs these days... aside from a few standout-outliers like Sculpin, they all taste about the same as far as I can tell.

An excellent IPA from Terrapin with a west coast vibe. A light amber color when poured. A frothy head of foam. It's aroma had hints of citrus, hops and malt. It had quite a refreshing taste that lingered on the palate. Plus it has one of the cooler labels to look at.
