Straight pour from a 12oz can to a nucleated “can glass”; a canning date of July 3, 2014 is printed in black ink on the underside of the can (“PKGD 07/03/2014 13:15”), making this beer just under five weeks old. For what it’s worth, this beer JUST hit my area, and I picked it up in the cooler and brought it straight to my fridge.
Appearance (3.75): This beer has a just barely hazy, golden colored body with a slight orange hue in its depths. All of that is capped by a finger and a half of dense ecru toned foam that rises easily off of the pour, taking its sweet time to die down, leaving a thick, webby collar at the perimeter and a thick film on the surface a couple of minutes after pouring. Some lacing remains after the fact, in the form of some splotches and suds here and there, but it’s relatively minor.
Smell (4.0): Sweet aromas of tangerine juice, fresh-cut pineapple, and sweetened lemon are clear and prominent right out of the gate, accompanied by lightly toasted wheat bread, a tiny bit of ganja, light toffee, and nice floral notes after it opens up a bit. A slightly garlicky, dank tone comes forward a bit as it sits longer.
Taste (4.0): Departing from the aroma just a bit, a light mandarin orange flavor comes through first, accompanied by slightly biscuity, bready undertones—but it’s quickly followed up by a bitterness that’s evenly split between grapefruit peel and resin. That bitterness blossoms into a mixture of largely floral but solidly dank, resinous tones with an almost (but not quite!) astringent, citric undercurrent. That citrus zest flavor hangs for a minute, but manages not to block out a subtly sweet, juicy fruit flavor in the finish. This is really, really good.
Mouthfeel (4.25): Smooth, not heavy, and still dry—it hits all the right notes for the style. The body is a smooth medium weight, accompanied by subtle carbonation that gets lightly prickly and a little tingly as it foams up and washes out. The body feels slick at the front, slick in the back, and then dries out considerably right at the very end. Great stuff.
Overall (4.0): I’m actually really impressed by this beer. It quietly brings all the right stuff to the table, especially considering it’s on the light side for the style (these days, anyway). There are probably hoppier and stronger APAs, but this one focuses on good form and hits the American IPA style dead in the center. Nothing about it is mind-blowing—but not a single aspect of it slouches, and most elements are done very well and come together even better.

Pours out of the can a slightly opaque gold with a finger of head that dissipates quickly. Smells like grapefruit and a little bit of pine. Tastes similar with a lasting bitterness that is enjoyable.

Up-Hi pours a copper color with a small but long-lasting head. The aroma is earthy and bitter. The flavor is nice and bold, earthy, with good bitterness and a trace of citrus. Good body and feel. Overall, nice IPA with bold flavors and bold bitterness.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Appearance is a clear golden orange, with a thick, fluffy white head about a finger and a half's worth of head. Good retention and lacing.
Aroma: citrus, pineapple, orange zest and peels, peach, papaya, mango, lemon peels and zest, biscuit, a touch of pine, caramel, and floral and herbal hops.
Mainly tasting the fruity notes and zests mentioned in the aroma, pine in the background, biscuit, while tasting quite herbal. Body is medium-light.

This beer has a slightly resiny aroma, but boy does the citrus flavor come through on the palate. Quite good and I got it at a real bargain too! I'll keep an eye out for this when I want a nice, bright IPA.

The taste and feel didn't match the expectations set by the bright citrusy aroma.

Orange with a slight haze, lots of carbonation and three fingers of orange tinged white head.
Smells basically of nothing maybe some hard water and a slight fruitiness.
The taste is of caramel and slight stone fruit fruitiness. It tastes almost like an old world IPA.
Medium body with moderate carbonation nothing wrong with the feel.
I got this in North Carolina and I’m drinking in California July 21, 2020.
