12oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy light orange with a solid one finger white head. Head retention is just mediocre as is the lacing. It's passable though.

Aroma is loaded with pineapple with mango and tangerine following behind. It is very heavy on the tropical fruit. Just a tiny bit of bread in the background.

The flavor closely follows the aroma keeping with the tropical citrus theme. A bit more in the way of malt comes through with light bread and a touch of caramel. Bitterness is high throughout but clean. A very clean mouthfeel with a pretty crisp finish.

Overall, a very nice IPA from Terrapin who doesn't really do west coast IPA's. I love the can format as well. One I will have to pick up again.

A: Pours a medium golden yellow in color with light amounts of fine visible carbonation slowly rising from the bottom of the glass, a moderate amount of fine particulates in suspension towards the bottom of the glass, and a light amount of honey colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of tropical/mango, tropical/peach, and citrus/orange zest hops.

T: Upfront there is a light amount of light grainy malts that are slightly sweet that is quickly overtaken by the moderate to strong flavors of the hops - tropical/mango, citrus/orange zest, pine/resin, and herbal. Light amounts of bitterness that lingers for a moderate amount of time.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable and very easy to drink with extremely well hidden alcohol - I could easily put down a couple of these though that might make me a little more impaired than I would like... Really nice flavors and aromas from the hops.

-can packaging. spiegelau ipa glass.

(3.60) A: Deep orange coloring, slow, light spacious rise of effervesce. Dirty bready white head, average retention rate, with a minimal lace band.

(3.60) S: Aroma of pine, citrus hops that were flowery, lightly dry, with some dry orange grind. Decent level of awareness.

(3.85) T: Orange grind-pine hopping. Some sweetness of malt, and citrus flower, spiciness of grapefruit grind and a bit of dried tropical fruit (dried coconut) chimes in. Big grassy hop finish, some lingering, very good level of intensity.

(3.70) M: Spicy mouthful, bright orange and citrus glow on the inner cheeks. Lazy carbonation, medium full body.

(3.85) O: Overall good flavor, some tropical citrus notes, spicy and bright, a perfect tropical beach companion. Nice drinker with a big grassy hop finish. Fitting name, california style with a tropical island touch of hops. Very good, easy recommend.

Orange with a short-lived white head.

Tropical fruits and vegetal hops on the nose.

Taste is a little harsh. A touch of tropical fruit, but somewhat astringent. Nothing special, but a passable IPA.

12oz can. Pours a cloudy burnt orange color with an inch plus of frothy white head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is light citrus and sweet floral hops. Bready. The taste is light citrus hops with lots of bready malt flavor. Slightly floral at times with a orange peel finish. Pretty drinkable with almost no alcohol presence. Lots of carbonation with a bit of an oily mouthfeel. This would be a decent beer to have in the fridge and pound during the summer, but overall it's nothing special. Good enough.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/2/2018. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink; with the modestly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. Awesome balanced mix of juicy, dank, and vibrant hop complexity; with a nice bready malt backbone. Loved the hop profile as expected, great showcase of the Zythos, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra hops. A very enjoyable offering.

Picked up the last pack of this at Joe Canal's in Parsippany last week. I never had this before and this was the first beer from Terrapin that I've bought that wasn't packaged in bottles. I had high hopes for this given how fast it sold out and how much I need to gt over my anti-can bias. Thankfully, this proved to be worth the buy as it's going to be a nice part of my summer rotation!

Good pour to this, as the beer had a somewhat opaque golden hue, a head that looked like sea form, and a moderate web of lacing along the top half of my pint glass. Not a strong aroma but there was lots of pine, earthy hops, and some orange and grapefruit pith. Good citrus taste to this as a more floral presence kicked in once I gave this a few sips. The mouthfeel had some resin and oil to it and the carbonation was perfect as it kept this beer light without overpowering everything else. A nice funky earthiness and slight grassy feel kicked in in the aftertaste as the pine was the last note to softly fade away.

While not light enough to be a session beer, it would be easy to kick a few of these down in one sitting. While not a west coast brew out of a bottle, it's impossible not to mistake this for one once it's poured out of the can. Very enjoyable beer that held up well to similar beers from California and the like as the inside matched the design on the outside quite nicely. Having the foam linger until the end reminded me of the waves out west and had me looking to "High 5" someone here. Good vibrations all around!

This beer is a perfect tasting IPA. One notably creative characteristic is that the faint orange/citrus aroma goes well with the picture-art on the can. I tried to find something wrong with it, but couldn't. It's perfect. I'd prefer it be sold in a bottle, but a can gets the job done. A+

Six pack copped at Bottle King. Surprisingly drinkable, refreshing IPA bursting with hops and citrus both in the nose and on the tongue. Good session type of beer. I had fun drinking this one. Recommended.

Poured from a can into a Goose Island tulip. The foam starts creeping out of the can the moment the tab is pulled. Really impressive-looking pour. It has a hazy orange color that makes me thirsty just looking at it and a majestic foamy crown that lasts and lasts and provides some good lacing. I think I even see some floaties in there too! The nose has some sticky citrusy notes of oranges, grapefruit, and lemon and a hint of bready sweetness.

Medium-light body and a pleasantly bitter flavor. Some cracker-like sweetness up front along with marmalade and lemon give way to more hoppy notes of grapefruit and over-ripe peaches at mid-palate. Some sweetness lingers a bit on the finish along with the orange hoppy flavors. Dry finish with no alcohol. Very appetizing.

Overall, a very nice West Coast IPA from Terrapin. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely worth trying if you've never had it before. It's well-balanced and sports a nice variety of hop flavors that should be enjoyable to fans of the style.
