French Toasted W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial StoutFrench Toasted W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout
Notes: Breakfast in a bottle returns this year with one of our favorite morning time treats. "French Toasted W-n-B" combines big maple syrup notes, fresh coffee, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon to stand out among ordinary Imperial Stouts. With this much decadence packed into one bottle, this beer will get you back to the table for another round.

Taken from notes, 2015
22oz bottle poured into snifter

A- pours pitch black in color with a small creamy dark tan head that reduces to leave a film on top with some specs of lace being left behind

S- fresh espresso aroma bursts out of the glass with a compliment of cinnamon that seems to enhance the coffee aroma. Dark artisan chocolate and vanilla bean follow, along with a black molasses sweetness, very nice

T- big mix of fresh espresso and dark chocolate malt with notes of cocoa, black strap molasses, ground cinnamon, caramel, vanilla bean & dark fruits. More coffee and cinnamon on the linger

M- medium body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a bit of a slick finish

O- the additional of cinnamon works well for the base beer, further enhancing the coffee as chocolate, alcohol is hidden well

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a dense finger and a half of tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with some lacing.
S: Smells of coffee and chocolate with some hints of maple sweetness and light cinnamon
T: Taste is coffee and light maple with some vanilla and some hints of cinnamon. More maple comes in toward hte middle and back with a little more coffee and roasted malts. Swallow is maple, coffee, roasted malts, light smoke, and lingering coffee on the very end of the finish
M: This beer is on the heavier side of the spectrum with carbonation that is a little more than I would like it to be at just slightly prickly. The beer has a slightly drying finish which is nice.
O: Overall this is a really tasty beer with some nice flavors and complexity. Probably should have gotten around to drinking this one sooner but still drinking great.

2014 bottle. Poured black into a snifter with minimal head that dissipated quickly. Smell was pure chocolate milk. Taste was similar, but with the dry/bitterness of powdered cinnamon. No coffee/vanilla/maple syrup at all. I have to say, I am disappointed that some of the flavors fell off; without them, it wasn't very "french toast-y" at all.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep black with a khaki colored head.

Smell - The nose is quite roasty. I detect some sweetness and cinnamon.

Taste - At the front, I detect big roasty coffee. The cinnamon is muted but present. There are cookie-like notes and a definite maple presence. The sweetness compliments the big coffee nicely. There is a boozy presence before things become more bitter.

Mouthfeel- The maple makes the stout seem even thicker. The thickness gives the maple staying power.

Overall - Once I finally carved the excessive wax off of this one, I really enjoyed it.

A revelation in a glass. It's insane. Overflowing with spice and chocolate and chili and cream and roast. It's lush, deep, and thoroughly magnificent. Spend all your drink tickets on this and nothing else.

Pours jet black with caramel colored head, head sticks around a bit good lacing.
Smell this smells like french toast, may just be me but i get some notes of peppers lots of coffee, the one I had had been aged for a year so it was very well balanced.
Taste is amazing coffee, little cinnamon some vanilla nice and sweet.
Feel is very smooth for a 9.4% abv it is well hidden.
Overall I loved this beer.

2014 bottle.Pours jet black with a billowing deep beige head atop,it doesn't leave much lace behind as it settles. The aromas abound with richness, the maple and toasted notes stick out most with the coffee roast playing a nice second fiddle, the alcohol is there as well, almost like alcoholic maple syrup. The toasted element places a big role on the palate, not overly sweet but the maple and vanilla are big,the cinnamon gives almost a spicy note in the back end.A great nit cap sipper, all the stuff comes together very well. The chewy feel is sublime.

- 2014 vintage bottled 4-Nov-15
- 750mL bottle poured into Lost Abbey Teku on 22-Dec-15

Lot of coffee roast and malt, surrounded by hints of vanilla and maple syrup sweetness. Not cloying though. Wish there were cinnamon on the profile. If I had this blind tasted, I wouldn't have figured it to be "french toasted" but overall, a solid imperial stout. Would drink this for breakfast!

Aroma is roasty malt/coffee dominant. Flavor follows suit, with a maple syrup sweetness at the finish that lingers into the aftertaste. It's a bit less sweet than I had anticipated.

great beer that takes the original W-N-B and kicks it up in all the right ways. the maple syrup plays well with the coffee and chocolate from the stout.

Tons of coffee on the nose. Flavor was coffee throughout, with hints of maple syrup and some bready sweetness on the finish. Not much vanilla or cinnamon. Very good beer!

This beer was really good but a slight let down considering you have to get thru two layers of wax and the smell is one of the best smells from any beer. Can't really detect the "French toast" aspect of this beer but the coffee is up front, bold and really tasty.

This is an all-around great beer! The maple syrup and coffee compliment each other nicely. My only regret is that I wish I had another bottle. Great job, Terrapin!!

I thought this would be over the top and gimmicky but it was quite good. Solid malt base with a touch of maple sweetness, smokiness of bacon, spice from alcohol. Low carbonation makes it thick yet smooth.

Black, almost opaque with a very small amount of head.
Smell is coffee and more coffee. Am also getting some sort of sweetness but I can't attribute it to anything specific.
Taste is coffee and more coffee with a definite vanilla note, some sweetness, but am getting nothing else.
Mouthful is Medium and smooth with little carbonation. Finish has a lingering bitterness.
Overall this beer is good but am a bit disappointed that I am getting nothing related to the French toast. This won't stop me from trying the other W&B varieties.

Aromas of cocoa powder, cinnamon, subtle chili and medium roastiness. The body is a tad thin and underwhelming. Very drinkable for a 10% imperial stout, but far from the "stand out among Imperial stouts" it claims to be. Tasty but average.

The aroma hits of maple, milk chocolate, and a touch of cinnamon spice.

The flavor follows with mostly the coffee with a roasted quality, and nuttiness. The cinnamon takes a back role along with the maple sweetness slightly balancing the coffee.

Updating my original rating with a review. Sample is a growler filled today, from a keg tapped today.

The appearance is great. A deep black body with a nice creamy tan head.

The nose certainly matches the description with big sweet notes of maple syrup, caramel, and sweetened milk. A strong toasted and chilled coffee blend finish this off white just the faintest hint of alcohol.

The flavors are oh so smooth and deliver as promised. This is certainly sweet, but you couldn't expect anything less after reading the name. Sweet caramel and maple syrup dominate with an extremely smooth coffee and caramel flavor. This is just awesome. There isn't a hint of the 9.5% ABV hiding behind this. The body has a lovely viscosity that holds the flavor long after the finish.

The best beer Terrapin has produced.

Maple syrup, cinnamon, and fresh toast. The aroma is spot on. Chocolate and caramel. WnB base flavors with some awesome additions including coffee. Very tasty.

Lots of burnt coffee and no cinnamon or maple syrup to speak of. Disappointed with this one especially after taking a lot of time to pry the two layers of wax off the bottle.

The aroma shows way less coffee than regular WnB, allowing an impression of French toast to rise on occasion.

French toast notes come out more clearly in the flavor. These blend and mix nicely with black coffee and dark roasted grains. Yum.

Very disappointed In this beer. I split it with a friend and we both had the impression that it tasted scarily similar to regular Wn'B. I got hardly any sweetness or different kind of flavor in respects to the original. Last years Cinnamon Roll's was excellent, in my opinion this offering was lacking.

When I smelled the wax, I was ecstatic at what was to come. Now the double wax job wasn't too fun to take off but it did add to the anticipation. The smell gave the appeal that cinnamon and maple syrup were going to entrench the palette. While the flavors did exist, they were not as bold as the smell indicated. It was very similar to the wnb base. The beer was still enjoyable but was not worth the hype IMO.

Pours black with a thin light tan head. Smells of maple syrup, dark chocolate, charred wood and coffee. Tastes dry oaky, coffee, vanilla, a hint of tequila, some cinnamon, gets a bit boozy as it warms up. Medium/full body, dry with roast malt and chocolate aftertaste. Very complex and tasty.

22oz waxed bottle poured into a snifter

Go into this beer with an open mind and you just may be rewarded. Appears darkish brown as you first pour into the glass and quickly becomes the darkest brown imaginable, with a bubbly dark mocha head that never fully disappears. I'll admit that the smell of nothing but rich coffee - a good smell, mind you - had me worried that this beer would never live up to the amazing levels set by say, Kane's Sunday Brunch or Oddside Ale's Hipster Brunch. The nose is pretty one-dimensional.

But then you actually drink the thing, and uh oh, it's more coffee with lots of cocoa powder mixed in. For half of your first sip. Until the maple makes its presence known, and the cinnamon kicks in, and the finish is just like a bite of a tasty-as-hell diner breakfast. All delivered with a spot-on silky smooth imperial oatmeal stout feel. Great finish, really strong. Not as good as the others I mentioned, but a very nice beer. Just a shade below last year's Cinnamon Roll'd.
