Notes / Commercial Description:
Breakfast in a bottle returns this year with one of our favorite morning time treats. "French Toasted W-n-B" combines big maple syrup notes, fresh coffee, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon to stand out among ordinary Imperial Stouts. With this much decadence packed into one bottle, this beer will get you back to the table for another round.

First off, I'd like to send out a nice "fuck you" to Terrapin for double waxing the bottle. Easily the most difficult time I've ever had opening a bottle. This better be damn good.

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. Bottleneck says 11.4.14

A- Pours a 99% opaque black color with a 1/2 inch light brown head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Wonderful coffee aroma that's quite sweet and a bit chocolaty. Also some caramel, vanilla and a hint of booze.

T- The coffee sets in and is followed by a good helping of maple sweetness that lasts on the palate through the finish. Man, that's delicious. Slightly bitter after multiple sips are taken. The bitterness of the coffee provides a great contrast to the sugary maple.

M- Lusciously creamy and chewy. Medium carbonation and a full body.

O- This is Wake n Bake fully realized. Very well could be my new favorite Terrapin beer...and yes, it was worth the trouble getting it open. Cheers.

Every bit as good as regular WnB. I wish I would have had both at the same time to compare, because I had a hard time picking out the additional flavors even after letting it warm up.

A: Pours black with a finger of brown head that fades into a frothy ring with little lacing.

S: Roasted malts with a blast of dark, robust coffee with a bit of cacao. There's just a hint of vanilla and maple, though I don't know if I would pick up on it if I weren't expecting maple based on the beer name.

T: Roasted malts and robust coffee dominate here as well. Cacao nibs and a bit of char follow with a lightly bitter and boozy finish. Maple and vanilla come through before a roasty and sticky sweet finish.

M: Thick body with carbonation on the lower side of moderate, this beer is a bit more carbonated than most imperial stouts, but it works with the robust coffee flavors. There is a lingering stickiness.

O: A good beer, overall, though I wish the maple were a bit more present up front rather than overpowered by the coffee. Nonetheless, regular W-n-B is so good that it's good by default.

2014 bottle.Pours jet black with a billowing deep beige head atop,it doesn't leave much lace behind as it settles. The aromas abound with richness, the maple and toasted notes stick out most with the coffee roast playing a nice second fiddle, the alcohol is there as well, almost like alcoholic maple syrup. The toasted element places a big role on the palate, not overly sweet but the maple and vanilla are big,the cinnamon gives almost a spicy note in the back end.A great nit cap sipper, all the stuff comes together very well. The chewy feel is sublime.

Cinnamon forward with coffee on back. Still looking for the maple syrup with the French toast.

The aroma shows way less coffee than regular WnB, allowing an impression of French toast to rise on occasion.

French toast notes come out more clearly in the flavor. These blend and mix nicely with black coffee and dark roasted grains. Yum.
