22 oz 2016 shared bottle.
Orange-amber colored body with a white head. Sheets of lacing temporary coat the glass.
High ABV is evident in both the feel and the taste.
Floral, fruity, peppery and yeasty aroma.
Strong flavor is just lightly funky, mildly tart, lightly peppered and quite fruity.
Lively carbonation in a medium+ body.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy copper color capped by an impressive head; nice retention and a smattering of lace is left behind
Smell: Dried orange peel, pear and pink peppercorn; shortbread malt buttresses
Taste: Medicinal tones and shortbread, with pear; the pink peppercorn arrives in the middle but the finish is chalky; the medicinal flavor lingers into the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: A year on and the sweetness has dissipated (that's a good thing) but the overall flavor profile is bizarre and not particularly enticing

Poured into Sam Adams glass
Light golden yellow with a big foamy head. Highly carbonated beer that lasted throughout. Decent lacing. Very light tasting farmhouse beer with just a hint of the pink peppercorn.

Brewed with pink peppercorns for a complex spice, and dry hopped for some extra aroma, this multifaceted beer will keep you guessing on which flavor comes next." Brewed in the style of a Saison Ale with pink peppercorns added. Available in 22 oz. bottles and on limited draft.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.
(Appearance) Pours a foamy frothed head of a golden-white color over a mildly hazy golden amber body with light carbonation and fine pulpy sediment in tow. Retention is very good and lacing is light and spotty. 4.25
(Smell) Dry-hopped nose of gentle tropical fruit, spicy pine resins and herbal tea with a moderate bitterness meets an aromatic nose of what I can assume best is pink peppercorn spices, generating what I can best describe as a uniquely fragrant perfumey and herbaceous tint over a pale malt base with a soft sweetness. Not much yeast-borne fruitiness, acidity nor funk to speak of in the aroma. Potency is moderate. 3.75
(Taste) Delicately dry malt base of pale malts with a high cleanliness and very low sweetness, little hop presence and light bitterness, and a subtle impact from pink peppercorns that is fortunately a bit more pedestrian than the aroma suggested, creating peppery and spicy qualities of gentle mulling spices and herbal notes of fresh mint. The yeast profile doesn't generate much compound character in the way expected of a saison yeast strain, with minimal fruit, barnyard funk or acidity and the malt and hop profiles are so passive that the beer honestly doesn't taste like much aside from the pink peppercorn, which happens to shine as its boldest asset. 3.25
(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, softly creamy, moderately dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a medium frothiness and a moderately crisp finish. Body is light/medium for the style, light+ overall. Balance is nearly even peppery and spicy to sweet. Alcohol presence is low and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) It's been a few installments of Terrapin's employee brew-off contest winners, yet no clear winners for me in particular. Poivre Potion creates a decent flavor from the inclusion of the unique ingredient pink peppercorns, but unfortunately the beer otherwise doesn't have much body, malt, hop or even yeast character to serve as much of a compliment to the ingredient. At least it's not offensive, but it doesn't come off as much, and not a particularly memorable saison, even with the peppercorns in place. 3.5

Spice, Citrus This beer reminds me of the time I got lost in Paris with this girl I was interested in and her friend. We hopped into a small cafe and sipped on our drinks lightly until the sun set, figuring out our plan back to the hotel. Mystery sweetness and spice.
I ended up getting with the friend if anyone was interested. No? Ok then.
