12 oz bottle in a Belgian snifter. BA rating #5000!
Appearance: Despite a fairly vigorous pour, the thin head did not even fully cover the top of the near black, clear but opaque body. Despite the paucity of head a little spotty lacing was left on the glass and a partial head hung on for a good while.
Coffee dominated aroma with dark bread in the background. Good coffee aroma, but the coffee flavor is even better, and just as strong as the aroma suggests. Excellent, mildly bitter, bitter-sweet balance. Fine coffee and brown bread aftertaste.
Medium-full body with light carbonation.

"Four distinct single origin coffees from around the world each brewed with the same base stout." Brewed in the style of an American Stout, available in 12 oz. single bottles as part of a varietal 4 pack with other variants. Featuring a Rasuna varietal bean from the Sumatra Sidikalang region.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a snifter glass.
(Appearance) Pours a crisp, foamy head of a medium brown tone over a near black body. Retention is below average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.5
(Smell) Solid malt base of equal parts chocolate and caramel malts, with a moderate roast finish. Sumatra Sidikalang beans generate notes of peppery spice, moderate roast and a medium acidity. 3.75
(Taste) Moderate roast and cocoa nibs come together for a modest, but enjoyable stout body. The coffee impact from the Sumatran Sidikalang bean generates notes of mulling spice and trace fruit forward, with a moderate acidity, giving way to a moderately roasted finish. I found the flavor profile of this beer a bit shallow even with the inclusion of the Sumatran bean, which comes off as fragile and not very strong in flavor potential. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly residual, mildly oily, silky, medium dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a mild frothiness and a modestly crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is slightly roasty bitter and acidic over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5
(Overall) Interestingly enough, what many consumers have labeled as the best beer in the series falls quite flat for my expectations, the Sumatran bean uninteresting with little flavor profile outside of the roast and acidity, and the finished product ordinary despite being moderately enjoyable. An argument could be made that this has probably the most straightforward coffee flavor without the gimmicks of subtle bean compounds, of which I had come to anticipate by the fourth entry of the series. The greatest impact of flavor otherwise is the note of mulling spice, contributing some rich earthiness to the cream and sugar residual sweetness of the body. In conclusion, it seems Ethiopia produces my favorite bean of the series, with this one likely nearing or in last place. Not that it's a bad beer by any means, just too ordinary to please. 3.5

Pours an exquisite almost black color with at least a finger of tan head. The nose has coffee notes (of course) and a hint of cocoa. The roasted notes in the flavor profile are less bold than the nose might indicate.
