Sampled from a 12oz bottle purchased at Tasty Beverage in Raleigh, NC.

A - Black with no light coming through and a small tan head that dissipates quickly.

S - Mostly coffee but not overwhelming. It's joined by some nice dark chocolate and hints of oatmeal.

T - Coffee leads but again doesn't dominate. There are some wonderful malt flavors, especially chocolate, and a mild sweetness. It's complex yet balanced and lacks any rough edges. It's so smooth. The alcohol is well hidden.

M - Thick but not quite as chewy as I expected. A low carbonation that helps ensure a smooth delivery.

O - I'm not a coffee drinker but I can enjoy it in a beer if done well. Terrapin really makes it work in this brew. I plan to pick up some more.

2007 vintage enjoyed december 2013...into a snifter.

pours an opaque black with a nice head (still!) the smell has definitely been toned down in 6+ years but the coffee is definitely still there...but i get much more of the chocolate now. Taste actually has quite a good amount of coffee still as well, and a lot of toasty notes as well as a big amount of chocolate. its definitely past its prime a tad though. probably perfect at the 3 year mark. full bodied, mild carbonation.

overall the 2007 was still drinking nicely in 2013!

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Terrapin pint glass

A: Oh so black-black as night, real clean/smooth pour, half inch caramel colored head that stayed for a little while, light lacing that dissipated quickly

S: Not even half way through pouring the coffee comes out very strong, chocolate and toffee are not as prominent but definitely there towards the end

T: This was a gift from a friend and I thought for sure we had hyped it up too much, not at all. The taste was everything I wanted/hoped for! Again coffee right out of the gate and awesome malt characteristics, oats and chocolate with a lighter coffee flavor on the finish

M: Thick, but not too thick. There's a great creaminess to it

O: New to stouts but from what I've heard/ read this is one of the best items out of Terrapin to date!

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass

A - poured a nice dark black with a nice brown head. The head turns into a lace pretty quick.

Smell- roast. Rich coffee with a dark roastiness. A hint of chocolate and a few burnt notes. smells a little watery as well. strange.

Taste- a lot of coffee. It feels like the taste separates into three different sections where the coffee in upfront with a little chocolate and oatmeal on the back end, and then water; straight up water taste after it goes down.

Mouthfeel- smooth without very much of a carbonated taste. Very mild even with a 9% abv. very thing however, I wish it was a little bit thicker being an imperial stout

Overall- It was good and i would recommend it to people. The biggest dislike I had with this brew was the watery smell and taste and the thin mouth feel.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Black as night, smooth pour, small dark brown head that dissipated quickly

S: Got some Coffee and Malt, but this beer really didn't give much in the aroma department

T: Tastes divine, I got coffee bitterness and good malts, hell of a flavor all the way through.

M: Oats give it a very creamy, but not too thick feel, very pleasant

O: I think this is right up there neck and neck with Founders Breakfast in my book. Will definitely be a Fall/Winter purchase.
