A-Black with a one finger brown head.

S-Coffee overload! Lots of roasted coffee, some malt. So much coffee.

T-Starts with good deal of coffee, some sweetness from the oats, not much roasted malt and chocolate though

M-Medium bodied, creamy, nice carbonation.

O-A solid beer, glad I was able to try it, a great extra. Not a FBS but still quite yummy.

My favorite beer from Terrapin brewery. Every winter when this beer comes out I try and grab a few packs. The appreance is black as night with a rich coffee colored head. The taste is malty and coffee driven with a touch of cream. The perfect breakfast beer. This is a big rich beer but not overly heavy. This would be awesome on nitro.

12oz pour on draft from a fresh keg.

A: Black as night with just the barest ruby highlights when held to the light. Espresso crema colored head with great lacing, but the head dissipated quickly, the only negative.

S: A huge roasty, coffee bomb, with a creaminess that must come from the oats.

T: Finally, something I could really call a breakfast beer! Tons of coffee and roasted malts, creamy silkiness from the oats and a mild bitterness not unlike strong coffee with a touch of cream and no sugar.

M: Rich, but not exceedingly heavy, it does leave a mild coffee-like bitterness feeling that builds with sips, but it's not unpleasant in the slightest. I only wish it was on Nitro...

O: What a phenomenal beer! I want to have this every morning with my breakfast, then immediately go back to sleep.

bottle 2012 vintage....thanks to packpride for this one
aroma is a little light but you get hints of vanilla and roast.
black as night and fairly thick with a coffee colored head that maintains for about a two minutes
you definitely get full on coffee that plays well with the roast that isn't to acrid. has a touch of vanilla witch almost gives it a touch of a bourbon taste. you want to let this warm up a bit to enhance all the flavors that are in this beer
the oatmeal gives a full slick mouthfeel that is really nice.
overall a very good breakfast stout that I would have again.

12oz courtesy of Shane. Thanks!

A: Pour yields dense mocha foam and ends with a treacly drip. Beer is so perfectly black, the carbonation is hidden. Black tar on the side of the glass.

N: Dark chocolate covered espresso beans. You can almost smell the crunch. Vanilla backdrops. Fudge and truffles. Embodies the best of its coffee nature. Search for dark fruits yields an edge of raisin and some black berry.

T: Bitter roasted coffee and baker's chocolate. Biscuity. Ground espresso beans, but not the candied version. Charcoal and ash. Lactose milkiness. Oatmeal mash graininess and a slight acidity from the coffee that becomes annoying.

M: Somewhat watery and surprisingly dry. Hoping for a far more luxuriant effect due to the oatmeal.

O: It's much like coffee - the best part is the nose and then you drink it and the delightfulness fails to follow on the tongue. Bitter, but not rich, dry and lacking in viscosity. Wouldn't turn it down, ever, but I'd prefer a Narwhal.
