Pours an effervescent ebony with one finger of mocha colored head. Alright head retention & lacing

S: Some lactic notes, cocoa, vanilla, all seem a bit fake

T: Cocoa, dryness, slight caramel & salt notes, hazel nut in stronger amounts up fronts. Lactic dryness, more hazelnut, cocoa accents as this warms along with vanilla & woodyness, just a little saltyness. Finishes powdery dry with with hazel nut, woody bitterness & cocoa

MF; Medium body, slight carbonation

Was expecting way more from this, there is an artificial tinge to this that detracts from drinkability. Wouldn't buy it again or recommend it

500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 11.99. Released November 2018. Served in a Terrapin snifter. Enjoyed 12/10/18.

Pours a dark chocolate brown, essentially black, with a tall cap of pale tan froth. The head recedes to a thin central haze, a full halo and some wide swaths of lace.

Smells of caramel, chocolate and brown sugar.

Dark chocolate is right up front in the flavor. Caramel, mildly bitter roast, brown sugar and a strange, almost metallic astringency.

Body is on the lighter side of medium with fairly low carbonation. The finish has a hint of that astringent note along with some dark chocolate covered caramel.

Another year brings another Moo-Hoo variant from Terrapin. I’m not sure how much is my tastes changing or if there is something different going on at Terrapin but these Reserve series releases are not as exciting as they were in the wax-capped bomber days. Nonetheless Salted Caramel Imperial Moo-Hoo is a decent chocolate milk stout with a caramel sweetness overdrive.

(2018)

A: Pours black with some light coming through the edges, not much of a head.

S: Lactose, sugar.

T: Sweet milk chocolate, a bit of caramel, and some saltiness.

M: Medium with a slight syrupy character.

O: Not a bad beer, especially since I've had a sweet tooth. But I feel that this could be improved with a "darker" flavor profile, if that makes sense. The mouthfeel was fine but is a bit lacking. Other than these points, this is a fine beer.

Decadence in the Terrapin brewery reaches new heights with the trendy inclusion of caramel and salt to their already childhood milk chocolate inspired beer. The sweet tooth never saw it coming.

Very heavy brown and understandably mistaken for black, the frothy, milky textures layer in the glass like milkshake. As a bloomy blanket of foam nestles the beer, its sultry aromas entice the nose with the richness of chocolate, caramel, kahlua and graham cracker. In similar form, the toffee, caramel and chocolate maltiness has the senses thinking Derby pie with the very first sip.

Little changes as the stout slathers the middle palate. A continued richness of caramel woven chocolates barley allow the flavors of roasted pecan, dark roast coffee or any hop bitterness to interfere with it unapologetically dessert-like effects. The simmering warmth of alcohol give the chocolate a grown up appreciation while the stout finally trails into a woodsy, spicy chocolate character with a slight pep of bitterness.

Full bodied and with the consistency of marshmallow fluff, the beer chases the overall flavor of turtle desserts right down to its lavish textures. But in all things craft beer, the alcohol makes it a winner.

A - Dark, dark brown pour with creamy toffee colored thick lacing.

S - Dark chocolate roast with some caramel/toffee, light char, and delicate saltiness.

T - Chocolate roast bitterness, some char, very light caramel sweetness and salt. Finishes with a lingering chocolate char bitterness with some light saltiness on the very, very back end.

M - Big body with a silky texture and lip smacking sticky.

O - Really digging this stout.

Poured a black(ish) body with one-finger tan head that died quickly but left some lace. The aroma is mostly bitter chocolate with minimal caramel. The beer is salty and dry as the saltiness overtakes the caramel and the chocolate is basically dry and bitter. Thick and slow-sipping, the beer is more dry/bitter sweet than cloying sweet and is worth trying but not my favorite.

Not a bad beer, but I wouldn’t have guessed salted caramel unless it was printed on the label. This tasted like Guinness with a hint of sweetness. Like the Southern Tier version more.
