Pours a lightly hazed, golden amber with a 1-finger, easily dissipating whitish head that leaves less than a cover but does leave sporadic bits of lace.
The smell is faint; it takes some time to locate the aroma. What I end up with is some yeast and candy sweetness plus a dose of alcohol in the end. No hops to be found here.
The taste starts off with a nice bitter bite, some medicinal/menthol flavor that goes quickly away leaving some piney hops.
Mouthfeel is medium with low carbonation.
Drink: This improves as it warms and, while not especially good, is decent. Maybe this is older, who can tell without bottle dating, but for a DIPA/Tripel, there is some missing elements here.

From notes 7/5/12: Pours a clear orange gold with 2 fingers of billowy white, frothy, soap bubbly head that has nice retention but leaves only a thin etching of lace. Aroma is Belgian yeast, bread, some lemon, grass and a hint of sour. Taste mirrors the nose with the addition of biscuit and caramel malt, a mild, pleasant hop bitterness and a slight peppery prickle in the finish. Aftertaste is bittersweet and lingering.

Labelled as Monks Revenge. Bottle to goblet.
Aroma is apricot, orange, yeast, mold. Look is cloudy yellow-orange. Small head, but creamy looking....lasting. a touch of vinegar. Some Wang, but the sweet fruitiness and creaminess keep it pleasant. Medium carbonation.
A nice Belgian.
