Hazy dark orange with a large white uniform head.

Smell is orange rind, pine, and grass.

Moderately bitter orange rind, grapefruit, grass, pine, and biscuit flavors.

Not too shabby. Almost clear golden orange color. This IPA smells of hops pine faint citrus and a little soapy. Tasting the soap along with pine west coast hops, and citrus. This is a light brew with a slick finish with hoppy bitterness in the after taste. I was concerned my glass wasn't washed properly, but other reviews confirmed that's not the case. This was pretty good. Didn't live up to the hype of the name though.

Pours a nice cloudy orange IPA color. Aroma is malt heavy, bit of pine, thought it would have more hoppiness. Taste is a bit pine, bit malt with a heavy aftertaste, and thats what does it for me. A little more hops would help.Nice.

First time trying Terrapin as well. I believe they recently became #CraftAdjace as well, but I won’t hold that against them here. The name of this one sounds cool. Hope it tastes as good.

Poured a deep gold clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white frothy head when I got it. It was dark at Vortex, but there appeared to be a lot of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled Cascade, soapy pine, floral, Irish Spring soap, light tangerine, Citra and caramel. (Smell - 3.50)

Tasted Cascade, soapy pine, Irish Spring, floral, potpourri, caramel, lots of hops that really don’t work well together, passion fruit, mango and tropical notes. (Taste - 3.25)

Light body, Oily texture, Average carbonation. Dry, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was an OK beer overall. Nothing special though. (Overall - 3.50)

L: dark orange, copper, lightly carbonated, huge 2-3 finger off white creamy thick head.
N: orange peel, grapefruit, earthy/peppery Amarillo hops, piney hop resin, light pale malts and bread/biscuit.
T: bread and caramel malts, light citrus, grapefruit, orange, very dry bitter hop notes, touch floral.
B: creamy medium body and carbonation, soft pillowy mouthfeel.
Overall: for it having 6 different hop varieties, it mostly comes off as dry and bitter, lacking the depth I would hope for. Still above average and an easy drinking beer.

Pours a standard dark golden yellow with a slight orange hue and a finger of fluffy off-white foam.

Slightly piney and grassy character up front with a noticeable orange pith fruitiness, and a slightly sweet biscuit malt aspect.

Grassy, piney, earthy, citrusy hops lead the flavor here, but there is a slightly sturdy biscuity malt backbone to add some balance.

Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, bitter resins, dry finish.

Overall, this beer is an easy drinking IPA, but leaves a resinous bitter coat on the palate which took a few points away from me. Worth your while giving this a shot, but nothing to write home about.

Has that auburn appearance, a mixture of orange and amber. 3/4" off white head. Solid retention. Aroma was hoppy as advertised, nothing too exotic.

Taste was big on the malt and the hops. Heft. Its bitter. Just has a lot going on. This is basically a hoppy ipa, but with a very chewy malt bill that might obscure how hoppy it is to some people. It was good, not great.

I live in PA so I walked into my beer distributor... thought I try something new. I looked up Terrapin Hopsecutioner on beer advocate and it showed an 86 so and bought a 12 pack of the IPA survival pack. It contained the : Hopsecutioner, HI-5, Recreation and Krunkles all with best by dates due in four months.

Needless to say these beers are terrible. The description on the sides make them sound awesome... maybe I am missing something but the hops are missing. Along with a odd after taste... It tasted almost coppery... as if it had been well past it good by date when all the hops fade.

Beer Advocate needs a Jeremy of Richard from Top Gear (the English version) that gives an accurate description... How did these beer score so high? Pissed in PA

P.S. Use to drinking good beer. E.g. Freemont, Hill Farm Stead, Heady Topper,Tribute, Stone, Lagunitas and Firestone

DATE: September 25, 2016... OCCASION: a nice afternoon with Rich and Mary finished... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... first impression: wow, this sizzles as it pours from the can... a thick, foamy two-finger head lifts itself from the glass... even, open crags of bubbles ring the glass, while the white head takes its sweet ol' southern time collapsing in its middle... the body, a beautiful, clear amber display of bubbles spinning in torrents... six hops produce a thick, earthy, slightly citric aroma that hints at grapefruit, mint, and resin.... the first sip is a mouthpiece of hops smash, with the activity continuing throughout the drink--a full-bodied, demanding presence... aftertaste is strong, with a spiciness--pepper, something sharper--that makes for a chewable, savorable experience... not to mention, a strong malt base that just makes the profile larger.... at 7.3% ABV, formidable and worth the purchase... among the other IPA mix-pack choices, not heads and shoulders above, but the best of the bunch... they all merit some compliment.... ultimately, not as BIG as other IPAs, nor as diverse..

Initial oak smell followed by a similar taste. Morphs into a mild hop and bread finish. Beautiful golden color. Plenty of lacing. Full in the mouth. An overall excellent beer. Perhaps an early entry for the east coast attempting a west coast IPA.

Appearance - Thick , frothy off white head; hazy honey color. Some nice lacing and a nice layer of foam.

Aroma - Wet grain, citrusy and piney hops, and sweet malt. Kind of dull and muted for the style. Not as pungent as I expected. Some biscuity aromatic note that reminds me of Fat Tire Amber. Yeast?

Flavor - Smooth, smooth, smooth--boy, is this smooth. A backbone of buttery smooth malt, clean water, and a presence of citrus and piney hops that I find quite underwhelming not so much for the style, but for the way the beer is advertised.

Mouthfeel/finish: heavier side of light, lightly carbonated; crisp, tangy, refreshing.

Overall: a solid beer overall, but wayyyyyy overpriced. There are other IPAs of equivalent or lower cost that deliver more character. I know this may come across as pretentious. However, I find that the way this beer is marketed gives a false impression, and that really pisses me off. I would say that this is an average IPA marketed as an archetype.

12 oz can. If I'm reading the julian date correctly, it's less than 2 months old.

Malt is the star of the show here. Same issue I had with their Hi-5 IPA. I don't get this beer. Very bitter, little hop flavor. A beer that's stuck in 2006.

Bottle. Poured copper. This ber was hoppy but it was damn sweet as well. Pretty generic hop bill. Chock full of rich malt. Too rich for it's own good. I could do without the sticky sugars. Lowers the mouthfeel too.

A lively pour with a medium amber-gold and a big foamy pale tan head. It has excellent retention and leaves big swathes of medium sized sticky head. It has a nicely hopped aroma, with nice floral qualities and a hint of citrus. The taste is much the same but a little less distinct. It has a medium-light body with just the faintest hint of carbonation.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear copper color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is hops, caramel and malt. The taste is a very good blend of hops and malt. A really good southern beer.

On tap at Due South 5/16/16

L: 2F head with OK retention, some lacing and a ring. Beer is amber/copper, pretty clear and clean.

S: More malt-forward than I would like. Faint pine and citrus notes.

T: Whew...not bad. More piney than citrus-y, and more forward and sweeter malt than I would like in an IPA, but it's their interpretation of the style. Some bitterness, but not too much.

F: Medium body, light to medium carbonation, balance OK, construction with more malt-forward less to my liking than some.'

O: Perfectly good IPA, but not my preferred rendition of it.

Bottle into a snifter. Nice copper color with amber hues center mass. About a finger head of white foam. Nose is ripened tropical fruit balanced with caramel malt. Pretty laid back on the hops in terms of flavor and bitterness. Lots of sweet grapefruit, mango, pineapple, and citrus. Medium body, maybe on the heavier side for a 7% beer.

Terrapin Beer Company - Hopsecutioner. 7.3% ABV. 12oz bottle split between snifters. Bottles 12/25/15.

Look: Hazy orange/copper body, retaining a finger sized white foamy head.

Smell: Pine resin, bitter hops, and some citrus fruits, along with some malt sweetness. Has a little hop sweetness from age.

Feel: Light body, with some lively carbonation.

Taste: Slightly bitter throughout, but also sweet from old hops. Some citrus fruits and malt sweetness are present, but mostly blocked by hops.

Overall: The citrus has fallen off a little from age, but is still not bad at all. Hops are dominant here, and leaves lingering bitterness throughout.

First had in Kennesaw, Georgia, poured from 12-oz. bottle, with label notched best if enjoyed by June, second week, 2016, into Pilsner glass. This big-but-balanced IPA is well-deserving of its excellent reputation.

Love this stuff. Nice dark golden color with big, fluffy head. Subtle, honey carmel flavor that balances the hops well. Pretty strong stuff right up there with 2 hearted ale. Must say I like this better. Wish it was as common as the Hi-5 IPA, which I like too but this stuff is a little better.

Poured into a tulip. Decent clarity with a moderate off-white head. Retention was moderate with a lasting ring. Let it warm up for about 30 minutes before review. Aroma is pine up front with some citrus as well. There is a light malt sweetness as well. Nice pine taste with a bit of malt sweetness up front. Citrus notes are very minor in taste. Bitterness is balanced during swallow but seems stronger and lingers for a while after. Mouthfeel is creamy with moderate carbonation and no alcohol hotness. Fairly solid IPA.

Pours a light golden copper color with a thin head. Smell is sweet and juicy with a hit of hops/pine notes. Taste is much the same. Appears to be a little malt forward with a late/middle hit of hop bitterness. Light to medium body. Really digging it.

Pours a mostly clear copper color with fluffy white head that fades to a thin film. Smells of classic American citrus hops both piney and citrus. Aldo has a dank and somewhat abrasive character to it. Tastes initially sweet with ample hop citrus & oils. Toasty & bready malts support hops. Bitterness is somewhat harsh. Seems like high ibu's. Feels medium bodied with some warming alcohols. Overall, a decent hoppy beer. The harshness detracts somewhat but I would still go this one when craving some notable hop character.
