12oz bottle into my Dogfish Head glass.

A: Pours a vibrant, clear straw/gold with about 1/2" of just-off-white head that recedes instantly. Retention is excellent. Lacing is OK.

S: Amazing. Intense rye, black pepper, some citrus & melon. Something like honey wheat bread is detectable as well. One of the best smelling Pales I've ever encountered.

T: The nose carries over to the palate nicely. It leads with rye & lemon/lime. A bit of a toffee & honey note through the mid-palate along with pleasantly restrained bitterness. Finishes with melon & black pepper. Truly an experience.

M: Moderate carb, fairly soapy. It's on the lighter end of medium-bodied & finishes very dry.

O: I really like the sizable rye character of this brew. It manages to be assertive but still quite drinkable.

Poured a medium copper hue with a half finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell features an oily citrus hop with a solid spicy biscuity rye aroma.

The taste consisted of a citrusy and peppery hop resin with a complex rye spiciness. Very good doughy finish.

The mouthfeel was medium with a spicy tingle.

Overall a very good APA. The rye malt really separates this beer from the rest. Very quaffable.

Thanks to brentk56 for this one.

This is a very good beer.

I was expecting a larger head, but this one was under one finger and dissipated very quickly. I am taking off for that... Nice amber to color and very clear.

Smell was better than the look with lots of hops, above average.

The taste was exceptional. lots of well balanced malt, rye and hops. This is a very good beer.

The mouth feel was good, lots of carbonation, more that you would expect in a typical IPA.

This is a very drinkable beer. I do hope that they keep it on tap for a while.

Overall, the best local (Atlanta) beer that I have had, and I will get some more to continue taste testing....

poured into a ommegang tulip

A - clear amber color with very little head.

S - some spiciness along with floral hops

T - rye is evident in taste but is chased away by the hops, very nice

M - carbonation is nice and the mouthfeel seems a bit light but not bad

D - I would have another of these if I stumbled across one but I wouldn't go out of my way to find it. overall a good session beer suitable for the georgian summers.

Another favor from the Ohoove collection...I have enjoyed this on tap before, but this bottle was a first. It's a beautiful clear amber color with a decent off-white head and splotchy lacing. The aroma ia a sweet caramel rye, kind of a musty earthy malt. The flavor brings a similar spritzy currant and light piny-grass hop. Very finely carbonated, refreshing and decent drinkability. Midland body, fairly smooth. The rye and malt combo is nice but could be a bit sweeter. Sort of a corn syrup touch. Decent stuff.

A nice copper hued ale with a sticky white head and good lacing, smells like rye, biscuit, and citrus. Taste is nice, starts off with citrus flavors something between lemon and orange, then as the rye comes on the taste is of apple and then the spicy rye which lingers afterward. Nice beer very solid, if you like rye seek this one out.

12oz bottle: enjoy by 5/31/08

Appearance- Clear copper, lively carbonation and nice sticky lacing.

Smell- Rye dominates with malt and just hint of earthy hops.

Taste- A good dose of rye upfront and slight malt presense. A moderate bit of tea like hop bitterness to finsh.

Mouthfeel- Slick and crisp with lively carbonation.

Drinkability- This one has session written all over it. A very crisp and refreshing balence of rye, malt and hops.

Recommended.

A - Pours with a thin, bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Very nice lacing. Hazy, light brown color.

S - Crisp, malty aroma. Rye malt apparent. Hop aroma faint.

T - Light, malty flavor. Rye flavors are a nice offset to the sweeter malts. Hop flavors are piney and resiny, not overpowering. Well balanced beer IMO.

M - Medium body, very smooth. Fairly high carbonation.

D - I really like this beer's drinkability. The rye flavors balance out the sweeter malts and the hop flavor compliments them well.

On tap. Pours a slightly cloudy, but bright, amber, topped with a decent 2 finger thick foamy head that settles to a respectable clinging lace.

Touch of sweetness in the nose, with a lightly sour/rye character, and floral pith. Soft mouthfeel, light-bodied, with a touch malt body. Gentle sweetness, light hoppiness and phenols from the rye. Pithy, with a tea and bready linger.

Flavor becomes quite malty and even sweeter as the beer warms. Grainy tannins in the finish, not overly pleasant ones. Balanced, but not overly impressive.
