A: Straw in color, with a frothy off-white head and moderate lacing. I am a touch disappointed by the amount of haziness of this brew.

S: Aroma is faint, but is that of bread and spicy hops.

T: Dead on. This has all of the aspects of a well made pils; bready body, spicy saaz hops, and a clean dry finish.

M: Light, effervescent, and refreshing.

O: While its is lacking in the aroma and appearance categories, this brew is very well made. There is a lot of debate as to whether a pils should cost $10 a bomber, but I think it shows enough talent to warrant the price tag. Plus, it's for charity. Nonetheless, if you like well-made pilsners, then this is for you.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Brilliantly clear pale yellow golden, good looking lacing. Cracker-like graininess with a mild spicy hop in the nose. Crisp, smooth and lighter bodied. Herbal hop flavor lends some spice, graininess stays dry for the most part. Mineral and grassy. Pretty drinkable, a good stab at the Czech Pils style.

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: unlike most pilsners, this one is slightly hazy, but it has the classic pilsner hue of gold with a sustained, foamy white head. The freshness date (10/1/16) indicates this should be very fresh. I really like the label of a electric guitar playing turtle - "sound Czech" indeed!

A more malt accented aroma is evident, though some noble hops are hinted.

Like the appearance, the flavor is unique for a pilsner and in a good way. It begins a little sour with hints of lemon and malt. The mild hops do complement the profile. This one very faintly reminds me of a Wit style ale, but it still works as a fine pilsner style beer. As the pilsner warms, the bitterness in the aftertaste becomes more prominent.

The mouthfeel is more well-rounded than most pilsners I have tried and the carbonation is restrained. The sweet, faintly sour and lemony flavors coat the palate while there is some lingering bitterness.

Somewhat unusual for the style, yet is thirst quenching and refreshing; absolutely perfect for a hot summer evening in northwest Florida.

Pours into a pilsner a lighter straw color with a nice tight one finger bone white head atop that leaves some lace as it settles.Peppery hops, toasted bread, and a light mineral element in the nose. The peppery hops are magnified on the palate really playing a big role, quite dry and mineral-like in the finish, just crazy drinkable. Not a better beer out there for lounging outside after a hot day of work, this is not a "no brainer" it's delicate and spicy just great.

The appearance of the beer was very true to style, with a two finger thick head forming atop the lively carbonated, straw yellow colored, clear body. The beer smelled more intense than the typical Pilsner, with a grassy hop smell mingling with grainy malt. The taste was crisp, hoppy, malty, and had a touch of lemon as well. The beer was extremely easy to drink, with a pleasing, creamy texture, and a mildly bitter aftertaste that lingered a lot longer than I expected. Very well made Pilsner, which shows the craft of Terrapin brewers very well. I typically don't seek out beers of this style, but for this I could make an exception.

Pours a fine, brassy hue into my glass. Head is little to non-existent, but there's decent lace and nice, right bubbles. Solid.

Aroma is super clean, super dry, super fresh. Floral, but restrained. Lemon verbena and a whisper of turmeric. Nice, but lacking the green grassiness I look for with Czech examples.

Flavor is also super focused and tight. A little corn, some ginger tang. Super dry. Just dying to be paired with fatty or fried foods. Still missing the herbal, grassy, fresh notes I want, but so be it.

Mouthfeel is foamy and loose. Could be a bit firmer, but not too shabby.

Overall, a recommended pint! Above average, if failing to reach true transcendency.

Straw colored with a solid head of lumpy white froth. Clean cereal grain, floral hops, and a touch of lemon in the aroma. Flavors of white bread and floral, grassy hops. Medium-light, drying out a little. Not enough Saaz spice for my Czech pils preferences, but still a pretty well-made pils all-around.

16 ounce pint - $6.50 at Taco Mac in Canton, Georgia.

Appearance: Served a lightly hazed, yellow body with a creamy though slender white head from a hefty pour.

Smell: Cereal grains and spicy, herbal noble hops with a low sweetness meandering alongside a light note of lemony citrus.

Taste: Lightly sweet pils malt with a unflinching grainy element to it. Faint breadiness. Spicy Saaz hops deliver a firm bitterness and small hint of lemon. Recurring raw grains past the midline. Spice-accented on the crisp, cleansing finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Very nice, refreshing pils. I'd be happy to see this in the regular line-up, minus the "for charity" price tag, natch.

An outstanding Pilsner that borrows the intensity of taste from Imperial Pilsners but without the harsh drinkability of sulfury flaws.

Sound Czech pours with a brilliant-bright golden-straw color. A froathy/airy stark white head forms on the rim and persists well. Light lacing gives intermitten patterns on the glass as the beer falls.

Very rich bready/cracker-like maltiness gives a clean, sweet scent without overstating itself. Herbal, flowery/floral aromas balance the nose while contributing a spicy sensation of lemongrass and white pepper.

Flavors are rich, nearly making me think of Imeprial Pilsners. But the flavor backs off in its intensity and gives the same consistent line of breads and crackers that are found in the nose. Hop flavor is delicate and spicy while the finish develops a growing bitterness that slightly takes over as the malt flavors lead to a crisp and clean finish. Aside from bitterness, the aftertaste gives a mild bread linger.

Creamy and well carbonated early. The beer tapers at mid palate for an even fade towards a drying and fleeting finish. Stopping shy of oily or worty textures, the beer remains creamy, drinkable and dry in the end.

An absolute joy to drink. This is what Pilsners are meant to be, and without any punches pulled- this puts most brewer's attempts to shame.

Thanks DespainMakesBeer!

Golden colored with just a trace of haziness. There's a sold inch of creamy dishwater white on top. The aroma is of grassy hops and pale malt. I'm tasting more grassy hops than pale malt. The body is very delicate and quaffable. This has plenty of flavor and is very refreshing.

Thanks to bulbman for sending me this one. Nice yellow color, decent head. Smells like a pilsener, minerals. Taste is good, has a nice bite but I wonder what it was like when it was fresh? Overall this was good and I was surprised the alcohol was not higher because this was quite flavorful.

another i am finally getting around to typing, i really liked this one and I am a huge fan of the style and this was nailed

Poured a light pale yellow with a huge fizzy white head. I had to actually wait to pour the rest in the glass. . The head had a nice slow fade and left behind lots of lace. This color was very very bright and had lots of sediment in the bottom. Smell was very light and crisp. Smelled very lively. Nice light lemon and grass flavors, with a hint of yeast and grain. The taste was just great, smooth, big carbonation made it very refreshing. Very very hoppy for a pilsner with a nice pine resin flavor and hints of grapefruit, and pineapple and lemon. Big dry finish that was nice and bitter. This was awesome

Aroma is crisp and malty, slightly lemony, definitely appealing. It pours a clear straw yellow with a thick white head, not impressive - to me, but I prefer darker beers, and this is a pilsner. At least there are plenty of bubbles. Flavor is better - crisp, malty, mouth-filling with a hint of lemon, not complex but refreshing. Texture is smooth and fairly tingly. I’m sure that people who prefer pilsners will enjoy this one!

pours a clear, deep straw with a medium head that poofs. nose; belgian yeast, gum, & banana. taste; sweet malt, light hops, pineapple, banana, sweet dinner roll, nut astringents, lemon, & light pear syrup. medium carbonation & mouthfeel. a bit of an indulgently sweet take on the pils, but a few brewers are now doing that these days. not bad!
