12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Brilliantly clear pale yellow golden, good looking lacing. Cracker-like graininess with a mild spicy hop in the nose. Crisp, smooth and lighter bodied. Herbal hop flavor lends some spice, graininess stays dry for the most part. Mineral and grassy. Pretty drinkable, a good stab at the Czech Pils style.

Pours into a pilsner a lighter straw color with a nice tight one finger bone white head atop that leaves some lace as it settles.Peppery hops, toasted bread, and a light mineral element in the nose. The peppery hops are magnified on the palate really playing a big role, quite dry and mineral-like in the finish, just crazy drinkable. Not a better beer out there for lounging outside after a hot day of work, this is not a "no brainer" it's delicate and spicy just great.

Golden colored with just a trace of haziness. There's a sold inch of creamy dishwater white on top. The aroma is of grassy hops and pale malt. I'm tasting more grassy hops than pale malt. The body is very delicate and quaffable. This has plenty of flavor and is very refreshing.

Poured from a bomber I purchased at 5 Points Bottle Shop in Athens, GA, (highly recommended) into an Allagash tulip glass.

A: Pours a hazy sedimented light orange/yellow with ample head and thick sticky lacing.

S: Belgian, yeast and ripened bananas, quite floral as well.

T: It's pretty floral but I'm also picking up some pineapple, nuts, and scented soap in the finish.

M: A little bright initially from the carbonation but ultimately creamy as all get-out with a dry slightly soapy finish.

O: A very sexy pilsner.

On-tap at Midway Pub in Atlanta.

Pours a clear golden color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of light pilsner malts with good amounts of earthy and grassy hops. Also present are moderate amounts of indistinct medium fruit aromas and diacetyl. As the beer warms the fruit fades and the diacetyl intensifies.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Pilsner malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by moderate amounts of indistinct fruit flavors that don't seem as if they belong. Mild amounts of earthy and slighty leafy hop flavors work their way into things midway through the sip, carrying through to a moderately bitter ending. The fruit flavors are more intense than in the aroma until the beer warms up, at which point diacetyl becomes an issue.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass without a problem however I'm not sure about another.

Overall I was let down by this beer and likely gained some insight as to why it took so long to be released (though there may be other reasons). The flavors were muddled and there were too many off-flavors as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to see another low ABV pilsner made by Terrapin but hopefully the next will have better results.

DATE: February 9, 2017... OCCASION: toasting a nice snow day with the family... GLASSWARE: Penn State pilsner... pours a thick, sudsy two-finger white head that forms even, balanced coral lacing... a light golden body sports healthy effervescence that can be seen through its translucence... tart banana, lemon zest, cracker, and light spices make for an inviting take on the style... first draft is a stern, medium-bodied with a smooth intake and a reasonably lingering aftertaste... pleasant, easy-drinking, and textured enough to avoid a simple mouth-rinser... banana, lemon, light bread malts, and some spiciness--pepper?--with the unmistakable noble hops that evokes garden hose metal.... slightly buttery and floral too... having chosen this as the "Atlanta" representative at the Super Bowl party last week--and downing more than a few with little effort--I can attest that it is a serviceable pilsner that offers enough of a flavor profile to not be lost in the shuffle of pilsners...

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy light orange with a large white head. The aroma is fruit, yeast and some floral notes. The taste matches the aroma, a very good beer.

Poured from 12 ounce can into a glass. Drink-by date on bottom is "09.11.2016" Color between lemon and gold - shades of each. Ample carbonation and a fairly stiff white head with some durability - attractive. Nose typical for style, floral hops over mild malts - could be more forceful. Taste moves from fairly neutral malts into the hops; a bit more hoppy bitterness than some beers of this type - this depends on the hop blend. I wonder what this would be like with more Saaz hops and fewer / none of the others, but if you like the extra bitterness you might rate this higher than I. But it's still a good beer. Mouthfeel a bit tingly and a small bit of creaminess on the backside. Enjoyable, though I prefer more aromatics and less bitter taste in the style.

Note that the website says that this beer has as "updated recipe" from the original (2010) version.

This brew pours a clear straw yellow color with half a finger of thin white head  The smell is grainy with a cereal smell as well as a hoppy bitter edge that reminds me of lemon.

Glug glug glug

The flavor is more traditional than expected .  Noble hop bitterness and a thin citrusy edge. Reminds me of staropramen a bit. This is a very tasty drinkable pilsner. Full of hay, cereal, and fresh grains with thin but flavorful noble hops. Very drinkable with a creamy mouthfeel.

12oz can into a glass:

Well...overall, not the best but certainly not the worst Czech Pils that I have ever had. Poured a clear, light yellow that produced a nice fluffy white head that was well retained. Faint malty aroma and the taste kind of follows. Lighter in flavor and too hoppy for the style. The beer was easy to drink and did the job, not sure if I would buy again.

-09.16.16. consumed 10.24.16.

A: Hazy lemon brass coloring shows a good deal of effervesce. Antique white head is rigid and foamy, holding rather well. Lacing decorates the vessel rather well nicely. Really nice coloring, lasting topping.

S: Lemony flower aroma, decent strength per style, with lightly dried orange peel, and dried pilsner grains. Earthy semi-dry flowers close things out.

T: Flavor is zesty, and sharp, lemony orange hops are bright and lightly dry, with a sense of dry pilnser grains. Lager yeastiness provides a bite that was big and strong on the swallow. Bready, dry.

M: Mouthful was really crisp, light bodied and well suited per style.

O: Big on flavor, and hops, very crisp, lemony flower and pilsner strength with a lager yeast bite. Definitely big on flavor and hops, spicy, bold and flowery essence. very good to style.

L - A finger's worth of crisp airy bone white head... Slight retention gives way to a full slightly creamy veil of lacing... The color is a completely clear translucent pale lemony yellow... Bursting at the seams with carbonation, most of which starts very slowly at the bottom of the glass before quickly picking up steam towards the top of the glass...

S - Smells like a text book example of the style... Loaded with rich sweet cereal grains... Just a hint of corn... A light but inviting noble hop presence...

T - Starts sweet with cereal grains and a slight hint of some nuttiness... The hops don't appear immediately, but bring some serious bitterness once they arrive... The deep finish possesses a bit of a metallic character...

F - Medium bodied... A bit dense... Crisp and clean... A good bit of carbonation... Finishes with an intense dryness...

O - First things first, this is the great label design for a beer ever... Love the name... Love the label... I'm gonna need to get me a t-shirt... Next, this is just a slightly Americanized (read: additional hops added) version of the classic style... Quite enjoyable and refreshing though I'm likely to opt for more traditional representation of the style...
