Having CANpleted CANother brewery horizontal, now it is on to the next victim, er, brewery. Terrapin may have been sold to a corporation, but they have always been rather good to me. For insCANce, I received an erroneous E-mail from them & when I received an apology, I requested an embroidered cloth patch to salve the wound. They sent it forthwith! Onward.
From the CAN: "Check 1,2"; "Sound Czech Pils"; "Pilsner Lager"; "Like music to your ears, the Terrapin 'Sound Czech Pilsner' is a concert of flavor. Brewed with 100% Pilsner malt for exceptional crispness, and accompanied by Czech and German hops for noble superiority, this traditional lager will make you stand up for an encore performance."; "'Turn it up!'".
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed beautifully to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color was a hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had a pleasant grassy biscuitiness that made my mouth water. Mouthfeel was medium to full, surprisingly big for a Lager! The taste struck more of a balance between the Noble hops and the malt(s) than it should have. Instead of having a sharp delineation between the two, in favor of the hops, this was more balanced. It did not taste bad, but it just did not quite meet the style standards. Finish was semi-dry & while pleasantly refreshing, I was left feeling unfulfilled. YMMV.

Really stupid name and a really dumb can design. The beer itself is thoroughly well-below average in every regard and is worth seeking out to avoid it. Aromas of stale urine, body odor and formaldehyde. Avoid unless you enjoy the experience of nausea.

A nice pils. Maybe a tiny bit more bitter than what you might pick up in Pils itself but not too bad compared to most u.s. efforts.

Light yellow color with white cap.
Aroma of bright, spicy hops with a bready undertone.
Taste on entry is hop forward with a limited malt presence. Indeed, you have to search for the malt as it's light shines rather dimly. Disappointing actually, like a promising young athlete who turns out to be too clumsy to make it at the college level. The malt part seems about right but is so overshadowed by hop bitterness it's presence is diminished.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
Cut the IBU back to about 30 this beer would be in the ballpark. As currently constructed this is an IPL masquerading as a Pilsner.
