eyes...
a torrent of bubbles feeding a white cap of foam, soapy residue clings to the glass and the storm of carbonation below keeps the head quite afloat, she reveals a slightly hazy orange hue, a very attractive glass o' suds

nose...
surprisingly mellow, some hops in a semi tropical fruit/light pine vein, some malt presence but pretty meek

taste...
again, pretty mellow, would be nice for just your run of the mill american PA with a slightly nicer hop signature on the back end, has a pretty good kick for a medium range ABV and a nice bitterness lingering around the barn

it drinks right body wise, just enough weight to have some but light enough to be quite drinkable, the carbonation is also right on with just a nice bite adding to the overall feel

verdict?
not a bad beer but not a stunner. a good drinker but then again so are a hundred other beers available year round without the hop-la... get it ? oh man I crack myself up...

Picked up a 22oz in a trade with a friend in Maryland. Poured into a Modern Times branded pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazed copper hue. Decent head, weak retention, decent lacing. Smell is all grain and bready malt, mild hop presence...what gives??? Taste is like a pale ale...good but not much in the way of hops...especially for a fresh hop ipa - way too much malt! Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied, mild carbonation, finishes dry with slight bitterness from the hops.

Not an IPA. Definitely a fresh hopped pale ale...good for a pale ale, but critiqued as an IPA, which is what it is listed as. In my opinion, this is not a beer that "celebrates the hop".

22 oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams pint glass at cellar temperature.

L – Medium amber color with a 2-finger bubbly, rocky, cream-colored head. Really nice retention and a little bit of patchy lacing. Absolutely crystal clear with lots of bubbles.

S – Some bready and caramel malt but definitely mostly Citra hops with mango, grapefruit, and orange aromas. The hops are there but this doesn’t seem like it’s going to a palate bruiser by any means – not necessarily a bad thing.

T – Follows the nose well. It starts off sweet with bready, caramel malt and citrus and mango flavors. Smooth hop bitterness appears towards the finish. Very balanced.

F – Medium-bodied with good carbonation, a sticky and mouth-coating feel, and a bitter and dry finish. Grapefruit hop bitterness lingers only for a bit.

O – This is a nice IPA. It’s tasty, drinkable, and well-balanced. It seems like I may have the wrong idea about these fresh hop ales – they usually seem to be smooth and balanced and not the bitter beasts that I’m expecting them to be. Either way, this is a good beer, and I’m glad I got to try it.
