Poured from 19.2 oz can dated best by 4/22/2016 into snifter.

2015 version with Equinox hops.

A: Crystal clear light golden brown with two finger frothy white head. Decent retention and moderate lacing.

S: Fairly light aroma that consists mainly of dank grassy hops.

T: Lots of earthy bitterness. Piney and grassy hops. There is almost a vegetable quality to the flavor that reminds me of green pepper.

M: Medium body with light carbonation. Finish is crisp and bitter.

O: Nice fresh hop beer. I wish it had a touch more citrus or sweetness as a balance, but still enjoyable.

2015- Equinox Hops

A- A translucent amber with a one finger head and nice lacing.

S- Wet, sticky hops. Dirt and earthiness.

T- More earthy bitterness and some woody pine.

M- Medium carbonation and coats the palate.

D- A very fine wet hop American IPA from a brewery that rarely disappoints. Terrapin did a great job.

With the hop harvest season at hand, breweries around the country scouring the planet for the freshest, wettest, greenest hops to plop into their brews. And for the Terrapin brewers, this means that time is of the essence. Not a turtle's strong suit.

But the beer overcomes all that, coming to the market with a strikingly bright copper pour, crowned with a creamy off-white froth with great retention and lace. Bursting through it all is the bright hop display of citrus, herb, pine and perfume with a caramelized tone. One sip reveals a supple caramel sweetness that hinges of graham cracker and toffee.

And as the hops rise to prominence, the malty-sweetness relaxes slowly. Trailing with nutty, toasty and caramelized grain sweetness, the malt character soon gives way to the bright and juicy grapefruit, orange and grassy taste that those field-fresh hops provide. Its chlorophyl flavors are green, grassy and sprucy as a resinous bitterness builds and a pungent earthen astringency offers an unsettled but soothing mystique.

Loving its toasted caramelized remnants, the medium-bodied ale finishes strikingly balanced although the hops insist on its front-and-center edge. Due to its sharply bitter finish, its medley of grass, herb, pine and citrus peel weave a hoppy web that's hard to escape deep and long.

This is a really nice wet hop beer. It pours crystal clear and amber/copper color with a nice white head. The beer leaves some nice lacing as it disappears from the glass. The smell is fresh vegetable hops, some sweet malt that is reminiscent of caramel and a little bit of citrus hiding in there. The taste is grassy, herbal, citrusy and malty with a nice bitterness that lingers after the swallow. It isn't as bitter as I would expect but that is ok with this beer. It is a decently balanced wet hop beer that I would drink again.

the 2015 equinox variant pours a clear caramel amber with a small head. nose; vegetable musk, hops, orange pulp and syrup. taste; bready malt, citrus pith, caramel, earthy hops, grassy weeds & onion (which rings on a bit on the finish). medium carbonation and mouthfeel. wet hopping can be hit or miss, and overall, this one's just a bit too vegetal for me. still pretty decent.

Poured from a growler. At 1st the beer seemed slightly unbalanced and muddled but after a 2nd glass (and some food) this beer grew on me a bit. Developed into a nice round feel, toasty malt notes, sweet citrus flavors, and clean bitter finish. Better than average but not as good as some of the other local beers I have had lately. Better that the "3.75" rating I gave it but not quite a "4". The slight "grainy" aftertaste holds it back for me. Otherwise another great fresh offering from GA!

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Good till April 22nd 2016.

Stunner body color. Super crystal clear, and a big bright red bronze color. Plentiful pinhead carbonation, rising to a simple thin creamy three finger easily foaming head. Big retention, some big bubbles but mostly of tiny swiss cheese like variety, and lots of staying power with a very light tan brown classic colored appearance. Excellent looking brew.

Aroma seems to spark upon the pour, but then seems hard to discover while in the glass. First aroma is a good toasty brown bread crust quality. Woody senses kick in a bit, but are also kind of subtle. Not much of a hop forward brew surprisingly on the aromatics going in, but decent if taking awhile to show itself. Some slight citrus and green earth manages to sneak in just a little.

Palate is interesting. Tangy mid palate with a mix between wood spicy and juiced fruit. Caramel malt like flavors seem to creep in just nicely, with a good amount of dryness and getting almost to a crisp toffee angle. Moderate carbonation, with a feel that manages some hop juiced body but also real nice balance of thick malt without the cloying syrup angle. Clean and fun. More wood like tones and green warmth comes in on the palate over time as well.

A real nice easy take on a fresh hop brew.
