Thanks to Chris (spycow) for sharing this brew. Served in a Russian River tulip glass.

A - Pours with a finger of tan foam that settles to a thin ring and some patchy film, but minimal lace. Dark brown body that is lighter at the fringes.

S - Smell is very strange. Tar, alcohol, and dark chocolate, and very little lactose character at all.

T - Taste is more in line with my expectations. Straight-up lactose sugar, milk chocolate, and some faint roast and coffee as well. Very sweet, but on point for the style.

M - Smooth, Nestle Quik texture. Lower carbonation that is style-appropriate. Pretty enjoyable.

D - Too sweet to drink a lot of this one. Glad they put this one in 12oz bottles as it'd be hard to kill a bomber with anything less than a few friends without getting diabetes. Weird smell is also unpleasant, but if you hold your nose this is a pretty solid brew.

Hey check it out, a darker version of chocolate milk that is actually beer! A little bit o black and some brown, like my ex gf at a gang bang on the colony. Tiny tan head around the top, around 1/8".

Aroma was all about that cocoa powder and lacto. Not sour lacto, but sugar milk lacto.

More of all dat choco, lacto and cocao on the taste drop. Sweetness was complimentary, not beetus level. Smoov, not bitter. Light carbonation helps w dat. Makes it all easy to drink up in this mug. Creamy, not complex, but hey, neither is chocolate milk. Would bang again. Good for a bottle share lineup as this will be a change of pace from almost anything.

A: Poured into a pint glass to a black beer topped by a half finger of dense tan head that fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with some lacing
S: Smells of chocolate and some light roasted malts with some hints of coffee
T: Taste is sweet milk chocolate up front with some light roasted malts and a hint of coffee. This is a fairly sweet beer from the chocolate and lactose additions. Swallow is more chocolate and roasted malts with a little more coffee
M: The mouthfeel on this beer is on the heavier side of medium with soft carbonation that is just under prickly with a slightly drying finish
O: Overall this is a good beer with some nice flavors and a bit of complexity. It hits all those notes that you expect for the style and the cocoa nibs add a little extra chocolateyness on the top. Definitely one to try if you like the style.

Solid black color. Medium body and carbonation with a nice creamy feel. Aroma is chocolate, malt, heavy cream and a bit of black coffee. Taste is identical, chocolate is slightly forward but all the other flavors show up really well. The chocolate coats the tongue and lingers a bit. This was an excellent version of the style and very enjoyable

With chocolate, coffee, and heavy cream at the forefront, this beer leads a flavorful charge but with medium-full flavors and textures for an even and smooth drinkability.

The beer pours a dark brown hue with perhaps a modest haze that's difficult to assess because of the darkness. Formitalbe head formation leads to sturdy retention and clinging lace- all reinforcing the beer's character and quality.

Aromas of cocoa, molasass, walnuts, and cream all mix in a somewhat grainy scent. With no esters, phenolics, or off aromas, the beer is simple and pure with the classic Milk Stout profile.

Flavors of caramel/molasass start the sweeter start with a mix of heavy cream, coffee, cocoa, and nuttiness to follow. Perhaps with a the balance of the beer tilting toward the chocolaty portions, the milk chocolate flavors take a slight lead in the taste. Low on hops, the beer's hop profile offers balance and maybe a mild earthy taste without interference with the silky, chocolate taste.

Creamy and full up front, the beer releases its carbonation slowly and evently toward a cocoa powder and grainy-sweet finish that never really dries, but provides a lingering chocolate and nutty linger.

A very nice Milk Stout that pushes the chocolate malts without over-doing it. With a dash of experiment and a dose of Terrapin identity, the beer holds firm to the parameters of Milk Stouts.

Dang, what a beauty. Somewhere between darkest brown and flat black, with a toasted tan head of foam that hangs in there a long while.

Alluring aroma already makes me wonder if I haven't met my favorite Terrapin beer here. An excellent mingling of chocolate bar, charred grain, mineral, coffee, milk and cocoa nibs.

All that the aroma promises it delivers on the tongue, with more of a smoky twist to all the chocolaty goodness. There's a nice bitterness in the back and finish that is likely hops, but makes you think of bittersweet baking chocolate. Together with a nice milky sweetness and an earthy char that tempers the sweetness, this beer goes down super-smooth thanks to the incredibly airy, silky body. Light but hardly watery, it really is like a mixture of chocolate soda and chocolate milk, but adult-ified with alcohol.

My favorite Terrapin? I don't know, I'll have to check older reviews to jog the memory banks. But definitely very, very enjoyable. The name seems to be a take on Yoo-Hoo, the chocolate drink, but hey, I'd rather drink Terrapin's version any old time. And their labels continue to amuse, this one is as fantastic as the beer itself.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a deep dark black with just a twinge of ruby on the edges. Little-to-no lace left behind. Nose is full of creamy hot chocolate, vanilla, freshly ground coffee and roasted goodness. Smells like I just walked into a gourmet bakery/coffee-boutique. A full, creamy mouth that coats the palate well. Excellent depth for the style. Mild carbonation. Wonderful balance of sweet chocolate, mild hops, and a dark roasted finish. The vanilla comes through a tad, but this is dark all the way. Outstanding execution. A little on the sweeter side, but this may be my favorite of the style. Loved it.

A: thick, dark pour with very minimal head, even with an aggressive pour. pitch black with no clarity.

S: Smells of bitter dark chocolate. It's not an intense aroma, but is the dominant one.

T: Some mild dark bitter chocolate nibs, semi sweet milk chocolate, roasted malt. Tastes like a watered down sweet chocolate milk with carbonation.

M: carbonation seems about right for the style, medium bodied (could be thicker).

D: to be honest, I was expecting more from this beer. It's a little lacking in flavor.

Pours very dark and velvetty smooth. There is very little head even with a hard pour. The head itself is fairly dense and mingled with bigger soapy looking bubbles.

First snif you definitly get a big chocolate aroma. There is sutle roasted malts but all in all its mostly chocolate milk.

My first sip is all chocolate with some roasted barley giving another layer of flavor.
Drinks quite smooth but with some chalkiness also. Feels flat going into the aftertaste with the aftertaste being a bit dry.
Drinking this beer and smelling it reminds me of Hershey's chocolate world.
