Very dark look with a chocolate colored head. Scent of bitter chocolate but also sugar in there too. Good flavor of bitter and then sweet chocolate. Thick feel with low carbonation. Overall I think has a good scent and flavor. Pretty decent.

I've had this in my fridge for a while now. I had one a while ago and ended up handing them out as beers I didn't mind giving up. This is the last of the sixer and I like it more than I remember liking it a year ago.

Pours close to black, medium brown head. No lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate. Taste (it's gotten a little tangy..so the flavor profile is starting to break down; still, I think it tastes better overall than when it was fresh) some woody/fruity chocolatey flavors. It's a little bit under-carbonated. Overall, I think this should be kept in the fridge for about 4-6 months before drinking, but that's just me.

It pours black with a brown head. The aroma is roasty, with some liqueur qualities to it. The milk chocolate doesn't come through until the liquid has warmed up a little bit. The taste is bitter upfront, with a somewhat sweet chocolate milk aftertaste. Medium body. A very enjoyable milk stout, but how about that ugly label?

One day I had a dream that the brown cows and the white cows would pasture together in harmony. If I were then to sneak into the field and tap one of the brown cows, this is what I imagine would come out. It is like the chocolate milk of beer. It is perfect, no. Is it nice to snuggle with by the fire, or while petting my cat? Heck yeah!

First had poured from 12-oz. can, stamped on bottom, "3.28.17 2018," into faceted mug. This is definitely an added-chocolate Stout, but a somewhat drying finish keeps things from getting overwhelmingly sweet, like, say, a Yoo-hoo.

bottle to pint glass.

Aroma Is weak...some chocolates, nothing else.
LOOK: Dark black color, small tan head. Thin looking from pour.
Taste is Quik chocolate powder. Toasted barley. Good flavor, but a little too sweet with additive and not enough beer.
FEEL: medium body.

Lovingly poured from a growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter----
AND we are blessed to have this one here by the way!
This fine milk stout pours a deep cola black with a nice head of
light tan foam that settles to a thick ring, subtle layer, and features nice light
lacing. Nose of rich dark chocolate, subtle coffee, subtle char, and sweet
caramel malts. Flavors follow the nose with cream, chocolate, and sweet
caramel with dark roasted malts mixing with a very subtle hop floral hop note
with a touch of char that is overtaken by the creaminess from most likely oats.
Excellent mouth feel; medium juicy body, subtle dryness on the finish, and
medium low carbonation.

Overall another winner from a great brewery!

One of my wife's favorite porters, I'm enjoyed it several times. A good porter, it does have a little bit more boozy taste than I'd prefer. Still, as a seasonal, it's one I pick up most every time it's available.

One of my favorite brewers, but for me this offering isn't one of my favorites...

Right out of the can it pours the blackest stout I have ever seen - no reddish highlights, brownish highlight, just pure black - very impressive. The smell was also a great surprise - a deep scent of dark chocolate emanated strongly from the brew. But that' where I was left for want. The feel is very carbonated, not so bad as others but more so that I had come to expect from Terrapin. The taste was less than I had expected considering the strong scent of chocolate that assailed my nose. Though it was a good strong stout, I was expecting something a bit sweeter and that's where the expectation feel short.

Not a bad offering though, it is good and can be really good on a different day, I suspect.

A: dark matte black with a 2 finger solid tan head

S: well what do you know. It actually does smell a little like chocolate milk. Lactose, milk chocolate, roasted malt, a hint of dark fruit, oats, and a touch of vanilla

T: well will you look at that also tastes of chocolate milk. Sweet lactose, tons of milk chocolate, a hint of brown sugar

M: silly medium mouthfeel. Low carbonation

O: this actually taste like chocolate milk. It's pretty cool. A little sweeter on the Stout side, but an enjoyable beer.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet cocoa, malt and alcohol. The taste is sweet chocolate with some roasted malt. An excellent beer.

Surprisingly this beer delivers on its milk chocolate promise! Dark brown head with a strong aroma of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and oatmeal. Tastes almost too sweet which a strong milk chocolate presence.

Black in color with no penetration to light. There's a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering half of the top. The aroma is exclusively of milk chocolate. I'm tasting milk chocolate and some dark malt. The mouth is smooth and creamy.

Presentation: 12 oz. can stamped 3-28-17 poured into a pint glass.

Look: Black with 1.5 finger tan head. Good head retention.

Smell: Sour malt notes with esters of chocolate and alcohol.

Taste: Sweet chocolate up front, followed by harsher malts and alcohol. Finishes with subtle sweet chocolate on the swallow. Flavors blend together and balance more as the beer warms.

Feel: Medium mouthfeel with moderate to moderately high carbonation. Finishes slightly dry.

Overall: Fairly decent overall. I wouldn't be able to session this one, but I might pick up an occasional single.

Twelve ounce can purchased from Bonds Tavern in West Orange. Pours a jet-black ebony hue with minimal frothing. Noticeable aroma replete with hints of espresso and dark chocolate. Not bad.

Poured from a 12 oz can, into a Cigar City snifter.

Thin khaki head, that dissipates rather quickly.Black /brown in color, with not much light coming through the glass. No carbonation that I can see.

The nose is dark roasted malt, and some chocolate. There is also an earthy scent.

On the palate I get roasted malts, chocolate, and cocoa.I also get a little bit of dark bitter coffee,on the back end.

The body is medium, little bit of carbonation fizzling the tongue on the way down.Medium wet finish, pretty smooth.

This is a pretty good beer, not a go to stout for me.But one I would definitely drink again.

12oz can. 3/28/17 code date. Appearance: Black, opaque, with a moderately thick dark khaki head. Aroma: Light, creamy roasted maltiness with dark chocolate notes. Taste: Medium, dark chocolate and light roasted maltiness with some definite residual sweetness. Has a touch of cream and a surprising hop moderate hop bitterness. Mouthfeel: Body is on the heavier, creamier side, but very drinkable. Carbonation is low. Finish: Lingering light creamy roast, with a touch of bitterness. Overall: An outstanding milk stout, mainly due to a wonderful balance of the light roast, dark chocolate, and creaminess. Pleasant residual sweetness takes the edge of the roast and prevents the beer from being dry

Poured from can into pint glass. Dark black with a decent tan head which faded after about a third of the glass with slight lacing. The smell is of a dark chocolate milk as is the taste, with an boozy kick. I am back and forth between considering this a stout or a porter as it nearly matches Bell Cow from JDubs Brewing

Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout is a fine tasting beer from a fine brewery. Pours black with thick tan head good lacing around glass. Chocolate , with a slight taste of "booze". emanates from the glass. A rich creamy mouth feel. The taste follows the nose for sure. Although this is a good beer, I would say Left Hands ,Milk Stout Nitro is a little bit better.

Can > Tulip Glass

A - Pitch black with a nice two finger bubbly tan head, medium lacing.
S - Dark and milk chocolates, slight coffee, definitely a rich toffee aroma as well, some burnt caramel, smells sweet.
T - Really good flavor, creamy milk chocolate, roasted malt, some toffee and caramel, slight nuttiness as well.
M - Kinda thin, gets kinda chalky at some points too.
O - Really great milk stout, goes down easily, great flavor too.

Pours black with two fingers of soft foam head. Excellent retention. Aroma is lacking, mostly just roasted malt, maybe some lactose if you strain. Excellent creamy mouthfeel, exceptionally smooth. If you get this one drink it fresh, because when it is it packs a fantastic milk chocolate punch like few mothers. It isn't cloying or sweet, but you'd be hard pressed to say it doesn't taste like actual chocolate milk. That does fade a month or two out (I saved a few from the twelve pack to see how it would hold up) and at that point it really is just a pedestrian stout (again, toasted malt being the only real note). So get a lot and drink it fresh because if you like chocolate based stouts this is one of the best "off the shelf" ones out there.

Look: poured from 12oz can into frosted pint. Poured a milky, chocolate color. Very little head, but tan in color and thin is consistency.
Smell: the pure cocoa nibs made a difference. Smelled like chocolate milk.
Flavor: good, heavy mouthfeel. Cocoa definitely comes through, as well as some toasty aftertaste. Low hop profile and great as a dessert beer.
Would definitely order this one

Look: Bubbles up a nice light brown head quickly, indicating a fair amount of carbonation. Head dissipates at about the same speed as a hard-poured bottle or pint of chocolate milk, which is perhaps by design. The body is a nice sleek black, typical of coffee/milk stouts.

Smell: Predominantly like chocolate milk, though it's not an overpowering scent.

Taste: Strong taste of chocolate milk and a hint of booze.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, perhaps meant as a safety measure simply to remind you that you are in fact drinking an alcoholic beverage.

Overall: Fantastic; quite glad I have a whole six pack to enjoy.

Nice looking drink with no lacing to speak of and a minimal Amber head to the dark brown beer. Smells like roasted caramel cookies and chocolate, super enticing. Taste is pure chocolate and a bit of coconut on the finish. Slightly thin mouth feel for a stout, but good for 6.1%.

Tasty beer.

Bought a 6-pack of 12 oz. cans at Whole Foods in Arlington, VA. Marked best by 9/23/16. Poured into a tulip glass.

Look: Black, black, black. Nice brown head.

Smell: Not a ton of smell, perhaps it's too cold. We poured it straight out of the fridge. Predominant smell is like a bar of milk chocolate.

Taste: Tons more chocolate in the taste than the smell. Really excellent.

Feel: Medium carbonation and thickness. Solid without standing out.

Overall: Very enjoyable. I'll probably pick up 6 more of these since it's a seasonal release.
