Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.10%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We always love a good experimental brew here at Terrapin, but the salty-sweet combo of peanuts and chocolate has us all salivating a little more than usual. This brew, while smooth and mellow, still manages to challenge your tastebuds. The porter base is dark and smooth, with enough backbone to support the richer chocolate and peanut butter additions. It’s even dry “peanuted” with brewery-boiled green peanuts! Here’s to the candy-loving kid in all of us!

As a sucker for novelty-type beer I was happy to find/try this. Certainly better than some others of this genre--the Duclaw version coming immediately to mind--but at the end of the day, not very memorable or something I'd seek out again. There was some choco in the nose--perhaps some nut as well. No head or lacing to speak of. Got a little choconut-flavor / residual sweetness upfront that turned into a somewhat bitter finish. Did have a pretty full/creamy mouthfeel. Came off a bit like a so-so milk stout for me personally.

Great taste, but on the weak side for a porter, mouthfeel just seems off

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of peanut butter, roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts up front, peanut butter at the finish, some light notes of chocolate. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, but I was hoping for a little more peanut butter and chocolate.

The place I had it served it with a mini Reece's on the lip. It made it smell better, but obviously didn't affect the taste.

This porter does not take itself to seriously and that is why I love it! The aroma of this beer is simply "World Class" and the taste may not be as good but its good. Fun beer.

Very good taste. The peanut butter and chocolate really shine in this brew. Not over the top sweet. Good beer.
