Poured from a 12 oz can,into a large Funky Buddha snifter.Best by 7/26/17.

L- Frothy white colored head that stands 1 finger tall, with good retention and sticky lacing.Hazy light gold / straw colored body with moderate clarity, and distorted light showing through the glass.Heavy amount of carbonation.

S- On the nose I get light citrus and line hops, balanced by some sweet biscuit malt. Some grassy notes in there as well.

T- The palate follows the nose with slightly bitter pine hops up front, some faint citrus in the middle, and sweet biscuit / cracker malt flavors on the back end. There is a hint of floral spice hops on the back end to balance the malt.

F- The mouth feel is thin with a mildly sticky texture.Moderate amount of oxidation on the tongue, with a smooth finish.

O- This is a good session IPA,for a hot summer day.I could sit back and pound these in the heat.I would drink this again, and recommend at least trying one.

Attractive light gold color with thick white cap and good lacing.

Brewer says the aroma carries subtle peach and passion fruit touches but both are slightly beyond my reach. I get more floral with hints of spice and something more vegetal than fruit.

Taste is simple, straight forward hops the same as I described above. Still don't get the peach but there is something rounded about the flavor that is passion fruit like so the official description isn't wrong. Like the Brewer says, it's subtle. Finish is clean and crisp without any residual bitterness in the aftertaste.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Seems to be a run late to create session IPAs that are not so hop forward as to be off putting to those with an innate bitterness ceiling. This one falls into that category. It's almost light tasting (the malt certainly isn't assertive) and the hops are bright without being bitter. Fishing beer.

Can poured into pint glass. Burnt gold color with nice carbonation and one finger head that dissipates; a thin layer lingers. Peppery, resinous hops with earthy tones to nose. Light body, mild hops with slight pepper after taste. Truly a session beer.

Pours a golden orange with a half finger of white foam.

Piney, citrus, and resinous hop aromas and a touch of sweetness.

Hop aroma translates well into flavor as earthy, grassy, piney, and slightly citrusy hop flavors shine, but an underlying biscuity sweetness flavor is there too.

Light-bodied, high carbonation, crisp, resinous, easy drinking.

Overall, a simple beer that goes well with hot weather.

Terrapin - one of my new, favorite brewers...

This is only my third or fourth offering from Terrapin, but I have been happily impressed with what I have partaken to date. This Recreation Ale is certainly something to hold onto for warmer days, but now during the holidays, it doesn't hurt to try one or even two of these. Out of the glass it pours a clean and very clear amber-orange liquid, there's little head though there's good lacing from the small amount of head that clings around the glass. The smell is absolutely awesome - a resinous aroma of pine or pinewood mixed with a sweetness I just can't put my finger on - very, very unique. The mouthfeel is a spicy experience of carbonation that grows stronger the farther down the glass you get. I was hoping for more of the piney taste and sweetness to go with it, but taste-wise it was a strong hoppy character that ruled the day. Though not my number one choice of style, this IPA is one I can try on many an occasion. Overall, it good, I would say even very good and would recommend to anyone.

L. Deep yellow, medium to well carbonated, 1 and half finger white head, small carbonation bubbles, nice lacing.
N. very earthy and peppery, light malt biscuit presence. Small citrus kick, very balanced.
T. Matches nose, very New Belgium ish. Amarillo hops? Pepper, earthy, biscuits, dough, balanced if not touch malty.
B. Very nice, balanced carbonation and mouthfeel. Extremely drinkable. Highlight of this beer.
Overall. Not really my hop preference but it's drinkable as hell. It's advertised as a session IPA but it's nowhere close.

It's been a bit since I signed on to rate a beer, so I may be a bit rusty.

A. Golden brown, nice fluffy head from a decent pour, can to pint glass.

S. Grassy, pine, citrus

T. Nice hop character, citrus tones and very slight bitterness.

F. Some carbonation, not obnoxious.

A subtle brew, would be great for a hot day, but went well on a cold night. It was easy to drink, though I'd prefer a slight more bite. Not amazing, but was enjoyable and I would buy again.

DATE: September 10, 2016... OCCASION: Penn State/Pitt--the rivalry renewed!... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... first, one notices the cascade of gigantic bubbles swirling in a lively golden amber body--active and fresh... second, the head is white as snow and pillowy, with some chunky crags and thick lacing... strong pine and resin mingles with soft orange citrus... light bread malts do not interfere with the session's intentions... still, what a bouquet for such a low-alcohol IPA... refreshing, lightly present on the teeth and more present at the throat... in fact, maltier in its palate than expected... smooth, almost buttery as well... beyond the aforementioned flavors, a pervasive sweetness balances the soft resin... some metallic hints that create a slight detraction from the profile... as sessions go, refreshing and engaging...

Real big bod head with awesome lace and staying power astride a cloudy tannish golden. Nose is heavy on the citrus and medicinal hops with a touch of pine.

Nice light flavor is a muted version of the nose. Lots of carbonation further masks the taste. Definitely enjoyable, and drikable, but leaves you slightly dissatisfied, like the 40% reduced fat chips. Still good, but reminds you of the real thing too.

Look - 4 – Poured a hazy golden color in the glass with a very aromatic white head. Left some light horizontal lacing.
Smell – 4 - Has a spicy hop smell with malty notes. Pine and a little bit of citrus are coming through along with the caramel malt smell.
Taste – 3.75 – The taste is a subdued piney bitterness with a crisp lemony zest that fades away quickly which begs me to take another gulp. Lacking the bitterness bite and the end of the gulp, I was looking forward to it but I understand this is a session brew.
Feel- 4 – Moderate-high carbonation with a smooth and bubbly texture.
Overall- 4 – Great session brew, lots of flavor packed into a small ABV. Carbonation was nice and really helped get the texture and flavor on point for this session APA.

Extremely crushable with a nice light flavor. This isn't a hop bomb that's going to wreck your palette and that is a good thing. As advertised, this is an excellent beer for all day drinking as the flavor won't get tiring.

I have had this beer a few times now as it comes in this IPA mixed 12 pack Terrapin offers. Not really much to say. Clear, light tan color with not much head. It's light, easy to drink with slight hint of hop bitterness. Best drank when it's hot out- not middle of winter like now. Ok, but I wouldn't buy 6pck on its own.

This is the genre of ber that I like. An IPA with a distinctive flavor, well balanced and dry on the palate. Very clean, slight citrus flavor. As it states a Session Ale - I can drink this all day

On-tap at Hops Craft Beer Wine Bar, Morristown, NJ

A: the beer is crystal clear amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin head covering surface and coating of bubbles down sides of glass.
S: Light aromas of citrus hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has light and muted flavors of citrusy hops. Only faint amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels light to medium bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is perceptible.
O: This beer is easy to drink, but the smell and flavors are muted.

One finger khaki spume that fades quickly, light copper body
Very grassy and hoppy smell; a little metallic after that
Grass, corn, grapefruit. Not much hop or fruit complexity. Follows up a little bitter
Very light mouhtfeel, light carbonation
It's good for a light beer, I guess

A: Pale yellow in color with a fairly good sized white head that quickly developes some frog eyes as it collapses in.

S: Tons of citrus, and fruit aromas. Grapefruit, and a touch of orange followed by a slightly sweeter tropical fruit aroma.

T: They really focused on the hops, grapefruit, and a touch of pine, nice amount of bitterness, but the finish is a little on the watery side even considering the low abv.

M: Light in body, with mdeium carbonation, a touch thin at the finish.

O: Overall a real decent beer, a touch thin on the finish, but something I could totally see cracking a few of these during a cookout.

This pours a clear gold color displaying a high amount of carbonation and topped with s foamy white head when poured from a 16 oz can. The nose offers a clean hoppy aroma that is a pine resin and orange blend. The smell is right, but a little faint. Flavors match the nose with a smooth hoppy flavor in each sip matched by a lively carbonated feel. This hits all the session ale notes and was my choice through the summer.

A great find in a session beer from Terrapin. Smell hits you up front, and follows with a very smooth hoppy ending. Notes of pine, with a slight bitterness. Im definitely looking to try other Terrapin IPA's.

12 oz can

decent for a "session" IPA - it's got a nice aroma. and the taste has good hop flavor, with just enough malt to balance. easy drinking, medium body and carbonation.

Goes down smooth and easy straight from the can. Not quite the citrusy notes you would expect from a session. Better than most sessions but not the best.

a session ale better than many, but falling into that trap of making the flavor pretty light as well as just the abv, this comes across more as an american pale than an ipa of any kind, although i suppose thats what its listed as here. balance is the key word with this one, light on the grain front, with just a medium pale malt backbone. hops are great, really springy and lively, maybe citra in here, and they make the beer distinct, but there just arent enough of them. i find myself loving that one second that the hops are really front and center, but then seeking that the rest of each sip, and its just not there. i get that its not supposed to be intrusive, and it definitely isnt, but the hops taste so good it feels like a tease. either way i like the lightness of the beer, very easy drinking, and if i could get this in colorado it would probably be in my fridge a few times this summer.

A: Orange color with nice big head on top that hangs around with really good lacing down the glass

S: Really big hop presence, piney, citrusy, fruity, smell

T: Large hop bitterness up front, malt sweetness next, and a little bit of a piney after taste

M: Medium feel to it

O: I'm a fan, especially as a session IPA. It's not so powerful that you can't have several at a time but good enough to want to.
