The Jager Haus is a small establishment in the vieux carre.

There is a tiny bar to your right as you enter. There are tables along the left wall and in the back.

5 tap beers plus a rotating seasonal. I had a well presented and fresh tasting Spaten O-fest. They offer a decent bottle list including one of my personal Favs, the 1809 Berliner. The bartender told me that they have been selling a ton of it lately.

Speaking of the bartender, he was friendly and accommodating. In fact the whole staff was. Definitely one of the more “on the ball" staffs in the quarter.

The food was really good and I think authentic. Try the mushroom-potato soup! Also good were the perogies, schnitzel, etc.

Well worth a stop for a change of pace while visiting NOLA.

Three taps: Spaten Premium, Warsteiner Dunkel, and Franziskaner.

I was hoping for more, but OK, it's a tiny little place (kind of like you find in NYC), and they did have beers in bottles... about 25 in all. Some standouts included Ayinger Celebrator, Warsteiner Fresh NA (never had it), Heinerbrau Kolsch, Einbecker Ur-bock, and Aventinus.

The service was good: friendly and welcoming, and able to explain the dishes.

The atmosphere is very charming, and surprisingly European.

Prices are slightly high, but given the area, perfectly acceptable (if that makes sense...).

My wife is half German so she was not really impressed, but neither was she put-off. The food is certainly decent, and let's be honest, there's nothing like this anywhere else in NOLA! I think she just wanted a Po' Boy so badly she couldn't think about German food ;)

2nd morning in NO we were looking for a place for a late breakfast/brunch...stumbled across this and decided to give it a shot.

Immediately, we were greeted by a small group of people celebrating someone's 21st birthday...we were all given Tequila shots, great.

On our way to a table near the back something caught my eye...beer! Most notably some Hefe's, Aventinus, and even an Eisbock! So there is craft beer in NO...

Food, very appetizing and great for a hangover. I had a sort of breakfast pizza with fancy cheese and prosciutto while others had waffles, an omlette. The espresso (get the double) was awesome!

We each paired our meals with various German beers. Beer list (all bottles) is available online and contains Pilsners, Weizens, Bocks, even a couple Belgians.

Service was prompt and knowledgible, yet not extremely friends, nor rude.

Had a ton of fun in the city, and this was one of the more pleasant surprises. Will definitely stop back next trip.
