I agree that this store has a nice selection but it has been my experience that some (not all) of the staff have no knowledge of good quality beer. I will continue to shop here out of convenience but there are other stores where the employees know much more about beer.

The best craft bar in Mississippi is Keg and Barrel; the best beer store in Mississippi is Hops and Habanas. Everyone that works here knows about the beers they carry, what is coming next, etc. The owner is super cool and she always goes the extra mile to make the customer feel welcome.

Prices are reasonable for a craft beer retailer. Of course they sell growlers and if you need a keg they have the best list in the Jackson area.

Never been a cigar guy so can't speak to that part of the store. But if I am right the same folks operate the liquor store that is right next door. That plus a Little Ceasars around the corner makes this a spot that a great place for a guy to pick up all the staples in life: craft beer, cigars, liquor and pizza.

I'll make this short and sweet. I am a kid in a candy store every time I step foot into this place. They have a much wider selection of craft beers than any other store anywhere I've been in central Mississippi. I'm so glad that I found this place. After living in Oxford for a couple of years, moving back to central Mississippi left me with a shocking lack of places to obtain decent beers. This is a must-visit for me every time I'm in the area.

Nice store in a nice busy shopping center. Good selection for Mississippi. They had just about whatever MS has to offer distribution-wise. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Not much else to say about this store that others haven't already said except that they also have a pretty decent selection of glassware. Rodenbach, Three Philosophers, Timber Beast goblets, and a bunch of non-branded glassware. I hope this continues because it is a nice bonus when visiting a good store.

H&H is carving out a niche for itself in that it is becoming the spot to go to in the Mid-MS area for beer. The store is small, but well stocked. They try to stock the best beers they can get and are only hampered by the antiquated MS beer laws. But, this should be changing soon as more breweries look our way for distribution. The only downside I see is as the craft beer movement continues to grow in MS, the store will outgrow itself. But, I do frequent here once a month or so just to pick up some staples.

I quiver with beer-ticipation whenever I close in on Madison's famed Hops and Habanas. Great selection, fine company and a nice place to beer-browse.

H&H was opened around March 2009. They're on a side street on the right side of the shopping center in Madison next to a liquor store. Take a quick right off I-55. Another right as soon as you pass the Shell station. A third right down the hill and you're there.

Rick and his wife Tracy run the place. I usually buy from Tracy's mom Renee, who loves the same malty beers as me, so she's always suggesting new things. The staff really works hard to help customers looking for new craft beers to try.

I won't duplicate charlesbyrd's review, he described the interior perfectly. Aside from the fine selection of cigars and bar items, H&H really tries to get craft beers in before the other stores in the Jackson area do.

If you subscribe to their website, they'll alert you when new beers and cigars arrive.

The best part about H&H is being able to buy a mixed sixpack. Each bottle is separately priced. Most beers are cold. Warm sixers of many brews under 6% ABV are on shelves near the back or way back in storage.

H&H also has beer gatherings from time to time to sample and get to know fellow drinkers (and cigar lovers). Their passion for brew and smokes is unparalleled in the area. Like going to a beer candy store. I know they'll be really excited when we pass this dumb legislation allowing higher ABV in MS. And so will I!

It's a bit of a drive from Flowood to Madison, but Hops & Habanas is definitely worth it.

The store is located in a "strip-mall," next to a liquor store. One stop shopping. The store itself is rather small, with a long wall of coolers taking up one side wall and a walk-in humidor taking up the back wall. There are tables set up down the center that display bombers, cases, and barware. In front of the cash register there is a small selection of glassware and brewery merchandise.

They carry stuff that you may not be able to find anywhere else, simply because they are devoted to beer (and cigars of course). They are the only store I've seen in the state that carries Rogue bombers and cases of craft beers that grocery stores don't usually carry. They were the first to carry the new Tallgrass cans, and they usually have new beers well before other stores get them in stock. Also, they carry Shiner in cans, which may not be that odd, but I'd never seen it before.

The service is pretty great. The lady that worked the cash register seemed very knowledgeable, asking me what styles I liked and offering advice on their new arrivals.

The best thing about the store is that they have pretty much every beer marked with a unit price in their system, so you can mix six packs pretty freely. They have several Samuel Smith beers, which other stores would Never allow to be split from their packs, but Hops & Habanas will. The pricing is competitive with other stores, but you do pay a little extra for more informed service and better selection.

In all, Hops & Habanas is the first real "bottle shop" I know of in the area, and they will only continue to succeed as their selection increases.
