Benson's is rad. Right around the corner from my house and a better beer selection than any place in the area - The Bruery, Russian River, Unibroue, Ballast Point, Bear Republic, Sam Smith, Abita, etc. Dig it, get it, drink it, do it. The guys there will also blow your mind with incredible quarter trick entertainment, or you can just hang out and watch Kung Fu movies.

What to say....what we have here is a typical liqour store feel. There's nothing too hip nor disgusting about the place even though the neighborhood around may have you think the latter. The bottle displays are organized well enough and each individual bottle is stickered with a price. Much of the beer is refrigerated and there's a small section that sits at room temp. American micros like The Bruery, Oskar Blues, Stone, and Maui make up the majority of the craft beer population, while the imported selection is made of the types like Samuel Smith's, Kostritzer, Hofbrau, and Scaldis. The clerk made note of my Fluminense shirt, which started a short conversation between me and him. It's a fair place to find craft beer near Belmont Shores.

I have been here a few times in the past few years - most recently stopped in yesterday. It's a pretty good place in the Long Beach area. Atmosphere is pretty typical liquor store with wines, liquor, sodas, snacks, and of course the beer. The cashier always asks what I am looking for when I go in and asks if he can get me anything if I leave empty handed. They have a good selection of US craft and imports. Prices are pretty reasonable overall compared to other places in LB (I am looking at you ABC Liquor). Well worth a stop if you are in the area.

Benson's is one of my local liquor stores and for a neighborhood liquor store their beer selection is spectacular. They have a decent selection of Belgian Imports. They stock a lot of American Craft Brew as well, including: Russian River, Stone, Moylans, and Ballast Point. They also stock German Beers like Paulaner. The Beer Fridges take up about a quarter of the Wall space. They are just all around very good especially since it is just a corner market. Benson's is my default Beer store and I am glad to have someplace like this in my neighborhood. The only downside is that the guys that work there are some of the biggest weirdos I have ever met. If you are a woman do not go in by yourself.
