The nitro pour makes a beautiful creamy foam in the pint shaker. Color is a lighter than usual brownish-tinged amber. Delicious mouthful of suds with the moderately sweet caramel flavor. A buttery yet bitter brew that is satisfying on a frigid afternoon.

Warm and rich with roasted malt. Just a faint peaty flavor with some woody and mushroomy notes Some spicy hops along with the abundance of malt. Medium body, not too sticky, but there is definitely a smack of sugar that goes well with the tangy edge of the hops. On tap at Empire Ale House in Mt. Vernon.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a lightly hazy copper-gold color with about 1/2 inch of creamy off-white head.that had good retention and light lacing.

The aroma was mostly malty sweet, with just a hint of peat in the background. The flavor profile was pretty similar, malty, a bit sweet and sort of a touch of smoke. The peatiness lingered at the back of the tongue.

The body was full without being heavy, and was nicely full and even throughout. Drinkability was good, I could see having a couple of these. Overall, a nice beer from one of my area's newer breweries. Worth trying if you see it.

Clear red amber and thin tight tan head with okay retention. Brown sugar and a light peat aroma. Taste follows with sweetness balanced by roasted character and hop bittering. Levels of light caramel and chocolate. Lightly sticky and slick feel with a low carb.

I was told this was a “to-style” scotch ale that’s not sweet. Hmm… a malty ale that’s not sweet? Anyway, it has a very light look and the bittering does mellow leaving a bite but there’s not much flavor by the end. It’s put together well to make an easy drinking and enjoyable pint but ultimately it’s not that interesting.

Initial tasting a side-by-side of a CO2 and Nitro tap at the brewery. I grabbed a growler of the CO2 to go. Would have preferred the Nitro but they don't travel well and had to settle for the CO2. I didn't give up much though. They are both fantastic.
I am tapping into my growler now and reviewing from both the on-tap and growler experiences.
This beer pours a very nice, clean dark red. Head retains well in my brandy snifter.
The smell has nuts and caramel notes. The taste explodes with sweet, malty caramel flavors that are very pleasant.
Mouthfeel is something to savor. There is nothing not to like about this beer. To be enjoyed in any setting. And I certainly will at the next opportunity.
