A: Pours apricot in color with an active but soft looking white head. Spotty lacing was left down the glass.
S: The nose is full of a musty tartness mixed with a dry earthy woodiness. There's some mild notes of citrus as well.
T: Tastes like lemon lime iced tea with a touch of bready caramel. Oak is greasy and not especially dry. Lemony-lime finish with a musty and earthy tartness.
M: Soft medium body, light acidity, greasy oak mouthfeel with tingly carbonation. Very smooth and clean. There's a nice chew to it.
O: Very drinkable with delicate flavors. I enjoyed this one.

while this might not be the most dynamic and inspiring of the cascade beers, its quality cannot be debated. its a rather straightforward blonde sour type, simple, especially for cascade who does more fruiting and blending and aging than anyone it seems. this is clean, wheat and pale malt base, puckery with a lacto and brett combo, bone dry, and heavy on the new oak, which i think is the point of it in the first place. the nose shows a little sweetness, which in the flavor manifests itself as pineapple juice and honey, which is a cool opening act for the intense vanilla and earthy notes from the wood. the sourness is pretty developed here, and the beer is quite dry on the whole. it always amazes me that cascade gets these ultra dry and sour beers up close to 10% abv, thats an accomplishment of science in and of itself. it cant be tasted though, and this one actually drinks pretty quickly. this is a cool beer because it shows that these guys dont need to rely on fruits and crazy barrels and everything else to make a rock star beer. very very well done, and downright delicious.

From 750 mL bottle to tulip glass

A: A light orange-tan in color, kinda murky but not opaque. Effervescent on the pour, but the head is quick to recede. Sticky lacing is everywhere.

S: The nose is tart, unripe fruit, suggesting berries and white grapes. Funk and vinegar splash about, playing off an earthy undertone. Lively bouquet.

T: Flavors are more citrusy than the nose...lemon all over the place. It's pretty tart, but the oak aging lends complexity, contrasting well with a sweet grape note mid-sip. Alcohol is well masked, but warms toward the finish. Closes as it starts, with a puckering sour aspects lingering.

M: Fairly light bodied, appropriate for the style, with a little extra viscosity thanks to the higher ABV.

A satisfying sour brew, complex and layered thanks to the extended oak aging.

Orange to light brown color. Acidic notes with fruitiness in nose. Good not all just pucker like most American 'sours' but malt balances acidity. Poured with small bubbles.
