750ml, caged and corked bottle - thanks be to sour-head friends everywhere! Aged with white raspberries, apparently, which explains the name.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves some decent sudsy Mercator Projection lace around the glass as it slowly seeps away.

It smells of tart lemon and underripe raspberry fruit, white wine vinegar, musty barrel staves, gritty and grainy pale malt, a further muddled stone fruitiness, hints of earthy yeast, and some plain leafy and floral green hop bitters. The taste is rather tart and acerbic peach, raspberry, and lemon/lime 'fruit' (like a thoroughly stripped-down version of what one might expect them to be), bready and crackery pale malt, white balsamic wine vinegar, some vanilla-tinged oakiness, ephemeral funky yeast notes, and more understated leafy, weedy, and gently perfumed floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly average in its palate-taunting frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and sort of smooth, once one's senses get attuned to the heady astringencies here, that is. It finishes off-dry, the fruity tartness, complex vinous wood, and underloved base malt coming to a minor state of detente.

Overall, this is definitely one of the better sour beer offerings that I have yet to come across, in that, yeah, it's freaking tart, man, but there's a whole slew of other well-considered balancing elements existing here that make sipping on this a real pleasure. Worth checking out, should you get the chance!

Shimmering burnt gold with a fuzzy white collar.

The nose exhibits tons of fresh, seedy, acidic and bright raspberry paired with wine barrel.

Taste is sharp and acidic oak, lemon and raspberry with a light, thin bubbliness and a chewy, mostly dry finish.

750ml bottle

Poured into a wine glass. Not surprisingly, no head, doesn't mean I like that tho lol. Body is a burnt orange color, slightly darker than I was expecting, especially considering these are white raspberries. Looks to style.

Nose is fresh, bright raspberries. Tart, but also very juicy smelling. Notes of vinegar, acid. Green apple, peaches, and pears are surprisingly all present. Hard to pack that much detail into the nose. Not getting much in the way of oak. Smells really great, un offensive, fresh, and refreshing. If I had a better frame of reference for sours, I might give it a 5, but I don't drink too many of them.

Flavor is very bright and refreshing. The raspberries are certainly forward on the flavor. Green apple is very prominent. Not getting too much other fruits though. Maybe a touch of oak in the flavor. Packs a really nice zesty sourness, not over the top, but it is a sipper; I'm not too big on sours, but I know they can be overdone. Other than that, it's just a very clean beer (for the style). Very good, though the nose had more complexity.

The mouthfeel is very good. That zesty bite manifests in the mouthfeel as well. At first glance the carbonation seemed high, but when studying further, it's actually a moderate carbonation, but the way the sour flavors sit on my tongue, they dance around in a similar fashion. Body is very thin. Overall just very full of character and bite.

Drinkability isn't what I would call high, but that's fine.

Appearance didn't improve, not that I expected it to. I'll give it a middle of the road rating because sours aren't supposed to look super flashy, but I still don't think they look good in general.

Overall a very good beer with a great nose. Flavor is clean and tastes good. Mouthfeel does a lot of work for this beer, giving it that extra punch of character.
