Notes:
This NW style sour red ale is blend of red ales aged in oak barrels for up to eight months, then aged on fresh Bing and sour pie cherries for an additional eight months. Aromas of rich, dark cherries, oak and slight hints of cinnamon are noticed up front. Dark, tart cherries and light spice notes dance on the palate and lead to a rich, dark, tart sparkling finish of dark cherries and oak.

2017 from the bottle...
A deep dried blood red with auburn and chestnut highlights bordering the clean body towards the browner side of the spectrum. It would be still looking if it weren't for the few rising bubbles hopelessly devoted to supporting some kind of cap above, but a failed attempt nonetheless.
Sweet and sour cherries clearly and proudly display themselves front and center with a mouthwatering acidity. Deep red wine, oak barrel and all shine from withing. A touch of pepper and damp mulch linger in the end.
Wow, this thing tastes like straight sour grape and cherry Fun Dip. I think the puckering powdery tartness not only exemplifies the feel, but must be considered a flavor to this beast as well. As it warms, oak certainly comes through along with a boysenberry sweetness.
Feel?... See above. Add some strong tannins, an initial slickness, a wood stripping acidic drying tartness, and almost no carbonation, and viola. There you have it.
This is a sour to compete with the most of sours. Delicious, well executed, but so friggin intense like most of the offerings I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Certainly not for the faint of heart.
Cheers.

The beer pours in a dark red color with a pink head.
The aroma has sour and tartness along with cherry sweetness. There's some oak and mustiness in there as well.
The flavor follows with a strong punch of sourness along with sour cherries. The sourness is of vinegar, and citric sourness. The cherry sweetness plays well with this along with a strong sweetness and an oak drying on the end.
There's a good amount of carbonation. The beer drinks very well with complexity of fruit, funk, and tartness. This stands well against to Cantillon Kriek.

A 2015 bottle poured into a tulip glass. A muddy reddish-copper color with a thin light tan and pinkish head that settled quickly into wispy laces. Charred oak up front on the nose, with prominent cinnamon, cherries, and musty basement. This was puckeringly sour on the palate. Bright tart cherries, more cinnamon, plenty of oak, wine, and raspberries. The finish was dry and left a nice sticky, funky presence.

09 caged and corked 750 split with sourbatchkid.
A- opens with a loud pop and pours a ruddy red brown with three fingers of billowy light tan head. Head settles with some time to a cm or so and a few spots of lace.
S- funky oak barrel and apple cider vinegar. Musty attic and red apple skins. Sour cherries and some other vinous like touches.
T- tart and sour up front with the oak and funk. Cherries and some other stone fruit add to the layers of sour and bring some sweetness. Granny smith apples and some apple cider and red wine vinegar.
M- medium to light in body with a nice big fluffy carb that really brings this to another level. Good pucker and it leaves the mouth watering.
D- well this is one hell of a flanders. The cherries while clearly present never over take the red ale. Super refreshing and ill be seeking out more.

A - pours a deep burgundy with a bubbly tan crown. roughly 2 fingers worth of foam which quickly fizzles out.
S - the nose is simple but pleasant. Tangy and sweet notes of juicy cherries are the central character. But hints of other red fruit are present. Funky brett character adds complexity along with lacto to create a yogurt note.
T - very little malt character. Tart, tangy and funky. Mostly Cherries but there are hints of other red fruit.
M - lighter side if medium bodied. Medium-high slightly fizzy carbonation.
O - great beer. Bold flavors but each of them layer on top of each other so evenly they are incredibly balanced. Very fresh and natural tasting as well.

750 mL bottle, 2009 vintage.
The appearance is dark pink with one finger of off-white head. Its` smell has cherry, wood, pear, a bit of funk. A sip of this flanders red and I feel this is more sour than some others of the style. That aspect is fine by me and more of those cherries are still present. Lactic tannins hit the palate through the taste and it ends with some dryness. An enjoyable beer and one that is great to quaff on a hot summer day.

pour was a deep golden red with a very light brown in it. had a bit of a flanders look to it. fizzy head quickly disappears.
nice moderate cherry with a supporting malt presence. hint of funk and oak.
quite tart with a solid cherry flavor. very vibrant. nice malty and funky body is there but overpowered by the cherry. as you can see by the theme, it is VERY cherry forward.
fizzy with a nice solid moderate to high carbonation. tartness really tingles the mouth.
i was quite impressed with this. this has been my 2nd cascade ale and it was every bit delicious. very intense cherry flavor. the price on these isn't the best but the quality is.

2009 bottle poured half into my dreamweaver glass and the other into my lost abbey tulip.
Pours a deep cloudy brown color with a quarter inch of head that fades quickly leaving no lacing.
Smell is of cherries, oak, hay, sweet caramel, and a little funk.
Taste is sour cherries and hay up front, caramel in the middle with funk making an appearance, and tart cherries, funk on the end. Moderately long oak finish.
Mouthfeel is moderate and carbonation is prickly. Exactly what I'd expect.
Overally its damn good, not yet great. To me, it seems like Cantillon Kriek mixed with Rodenbach Grand Cru.
