The beer pours in a dark red color with a pink head.

The aroma has sour and tartness along with cherry sweetness. There's some oak and mustiness in there as well.

The flavor follows with a strong punch of sourness along with sour cherries. The sourness is of vinegar, and citric sourness. The cherry sweetness plays well with this along with a strong sweetness and an oak drying on the end.

There's a good amount of carbonation. The beer drinks very well with complexity of fruit, funk, and tartness. This stands well against to Cantillon Kriek.

Cascade Kriek 2012 Project shared thanks to Chico1985.

A- Super dreg filled tulip pour, murky dark red with some brown hues. Head is creamy and foamy with about a finger height. Good frothy blankets of lace coat the glass nicely.

S- Intensely sour red fruits and cherry juice jumps out big time. Some nice Brett funky cherry pie, grassy barnyard funk, just super sour, some oak and vinous hints.

T- Much like the nose, like eating a huge bag of juicy sour cherries with the pit stem and all. Just a vinous feel with nice Brett funky barnyard and some acetic vinegar hints, super sour lactic lemon juice feel. One of the most sour krieks I've had, sours overshadows.

MF- Light and super dry body with aforementioned super sours. Carbonation moderate and the body is foamy overall.

Super sour lacto bomb puckers my face, some cherry and nice barrel funk.

2012 project bottling with 7.2% ABV listed, picked up at Julio's during the summer. Enjoyed Cascade's Apricot Ale very much that same night, high hopes for this as well. Split amongst the peeps.

Dark red body with a beige/pink head. Scent has a strong tartness, vinegary notes, funk, sour lemons and some herbal and bready tones. Not much cherries, but good.

Taste brings on the sourness and cherries big time, sour cherries much more than 'fresh'. More teeth enamel-removing sour than anything else though, quite impressive. General lemon, vinegar, bread, funk and some oak. Has a bigger feel that shows the ABV a little bit, kinda reminds me of Petrus Aged Pale in its ABV-ness. But pulled off nicely, high carbonation and bracing sourness makes this a sipper.

Note: 2012 Project

A: Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown in color with light to moderate amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some crimson highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy creamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of thick film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of sour cherries and light notes of oak.

T: Moderate to strong flavors of sour cherries with a moderate to heavy amount of tartness. There are light notes of oak that comes through in the finish.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Heavy amounts of acidic prickliness.

O: I really enjoyed this beer - there is a pleasant amount of sourness that is not overpowering but it is still noticeable. The cherries are tart but strong enough to keep this one easy to drink. Alcohol is well hidden.
