Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for up to nine months, then aged on fresh apricot for an additional six months. Aromas of sweet apricot blossoms and tart fruit are present as you draw the glass near. Deep, rich apricot flesh, then tart apricot notes dance on the palate and lead to a sweet apricot flesh finish with a lingering fruit tartness.

What a sour-ass'd wild ale. Extremely tart...like sour patch kid salt ripping the film off you tongue tart. If that's your thing this is a must have. Awesome beer. 2014 project. Cheers!

Cool pour the same color as the fruit, almost 1/2" of white head on it. Aroma was lactic sour and apricots, clean, mild oak impressions.

Taste does amazingly well at hiding the alcohol on a big beer, wouldn't know it. I dunno how this is a flanders ale? Definitely gets more sour with time, and it comes out the gate a big sour beer.

Carbonation is high, but not overly. I really like these, and at $20 a bottle, they're worth it.

Great smell of just a bit of apricot and tart sourness. Taste was sour, tart, finishing with apricot sourness. Mouth feel was crisp and decently full bodied. Could have used a decent amount more of ripened apricot. Great none the less.

Pours slightly cloudy gold. Huge lacto sour on the nose, with a tiny hint of funk. No fruit at all - just nothing of the apricots. Very disappointing.
More of the same on taste - sour, touch of funk, bugger all fruit - if you had told me this was a straight sour blonde in oak I would be completely convinced. Very one dimensional.

Overall, an OK sour certainly, if it was just a straight up sour blonde. The Apricot is almost non-existent, and very disappointing for $30 a bottle. Given the reviews and price I was expecting prominent fruit and complexity, but this is just straight sour blonde with some fruit and oak lurking in the background.

2014 750mL bottle in a teku glass

A - Hazy golden orange, tiny bits of yeast/sediment. Short-lived fizzy head. Impressive amount of lacing for the style.

S - Apricots and lemon, some oak in the background

T - Really upfront juicy/tart apricot, solid undertone of oaked sour; probably overpowering if you're not a fan of sours.

M - Warheads fizzy; the tartness actually seems to come through in the mouthfeel.

O - Wow, that's good. Suspect it would only get better with age? The apricot is turned up really, really high. Would be curious to know how much they actually use. Shop around, some places will kill you on the price for this.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Duvel Tulip glass. Purchased in north providence ri.

Pours a super hazy orange juice like body with a good amount of sediment and a lacy white head.

Aromas are really nice and fruity, apricots definitely shine through along with the lactic tartness, ripe peaches, funky yeast. On the tongue it's pretty dark sour but balanced by a light stone fruit/ peachy/ ripe apricot flavor with a little oak, drying fruit skins, and a crisp tart refreshing finish. Medium high carbonation.

Another killer from cascade. Seriously, if you're not into ticking "whale" fruited sours, just drink cascade forever. Don't mistake availability/rareness with world class taste.

Really great sour. Mouthfeel and carbonation is on point. The flavor was nice, but there wasn't as much apricot presence as I would have liked. Pretty tart, but not overpowering.

Poured from a 22 OZ bomber into a pint glass. The appearance is a light slightly murky orange with a small white head. The aroma is full of apricots and wood. The taste is sour apricots with some oak tossed in. This is an outstanding beer.

Poured into a snifter. 2014 Project.

A - Light amber hazy beer. Poured with a 1 inch milky head that dissipated quickly.

S - Apricot at the forefront, with some funk, and malt. There is also a good bit of sourness in there.

T - The initial taste is not as sour as I would expect from the smell. The apricot comes thru nicely. Really well balanced and easy to drink.

M - Medium mouth feel. Good levels of carbonation. Very refreshing.

O - I like the balance. The apricot flavor comes thru pretty strong, there is a strong sour note but it is well balanced by the malt. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
