Pretty old but can't find a date.
Light fizzy bubbly head, clear dark tan reddish brown.
Nose syrupy candy, sour brown malts, some paper oxidation, sour cherry like note, sour brown malt, lactic acid, tart acetic acid too, caramel brown malt.
Taste sour brown malts, paper oxidation, little tart candied cherry, sweet quad like candi sugar, lactic acid and mild bacteria funk, fruity acetic acid, tart flemmy sticky. Dry finish, flemmy acidic, sour malts.
Mouth is med bod, syrupy like, flemmy and acidic, decent carb.
Overall eh, def past its prime, wish I drank it sooner, but thus is life.

500mL (2017 vintage) into a tulip. Pours a hazy pinkish amber with pretty much zero head, some lazy carbonation rising from the bottom. Looks like iced tea without the ice.
Aroma is brightly acidic, fruity, a touch floral. Plenty of complexity but dominant characteristic is the sourness.
Taste is a real balancing act between sweet and sour. There’s a fruity quality here that’s countered by lactic acidity. Vinous with plenty of barrel character. Notes of vanilla and light smoke. Rainier cherries. Hides the relatively high ABV masterfully.
Mouthfeel is likewise nicely balanced. Medium body, finishes clean and dry.
Overall a really nice sour from Cascade, drinkable and refreshing.

been wanting to try this one for ages, sick to find it on tap, quite a bit stronger in my experience than what is listed here, but there is always variability with this stuff and drinking something new to me from cascade ranks near the top of my beer dreams, so this was cool. especially cool that its 2017 vintage, wow. a little darker than expected, looks the part of the flanders red, clearish but deep mahogany, short lived head on the pour, tons of depth. thi is grain forward to me, dark bread and raisin, but not in a german way, acidic and vinous too of course, dried tart cherry, prune, and raspberry, but a ton of wood and mellowness too despite the ph. some definite belgian character from whatever threads in the blend had that, and it makes this unique as a sour, and the various ages in here seem to all contribute to a pretty dynamic whole. i taste some shoe leather, unlit cigar, maple, raspberry preserves, port wine, and warming booziness. its sharp and not very funky, but its wooden and puckery and smart, well made, uniquely blended too but you could never tell because its all married in like this. i think its so crazy what these guys do, have done, continue to do, their beers always have some level of process interest, packaging interest, and of course flavor interest, and this is another cool one. maybe cooler by itself than in the context of the whole cascade repertoire, but the absolutely slay...

Cellared bottle. Dark amber brown cloudy body, tan head. Flanders cherry, lacto and oak lead the nose with apple phenols and sour brown malt supporting. Taste is much the same, has hints of balsamic and light barnyard funk to add to the nose elements. Feel is solidly medium bodied and smooth but wow is it sour, pucker up baby! Slightly acidic too, ah cascade at their finest. Really enjoyed this one, think the age brought out some more nuance

2017 Vintage
Clear garnet with no head; cranberry, Red Hots, and red wine vinegar nose; red currant tartness, Chinese red pears, underripe strawberries, hits of fresh dates, warm peppery phenols, brown sugar echoes and slight thread of vanilla; lactic sorbet fizz, clean.

Lots to pick apart here. Nose does actually shift if you concentrate - Flanders red tartness here, quad cloves there. Same goes for the flavors, where hunting for, say, tripel esters + phenols brings you to orchard fruit + pepper. But this is besides the point; integration is the name of the game here. It is most obviously like a red, but gets deeper + sweeter as you go. Cascade do this in their sleep, and while it might not be their showiest, it’s possibly their most nuanced.
Excellent Christmas dinner aperitif.
