A - Slightly cloudy, pale straw highlighted by gold.

S - Very, very sour white grapes.

T - Refreshingly vinous with sweet grape jam. Tart up front with an unpleasant fake grape jelly aftertaste. Referred to as 'cotton candy' in the tasting notes. 'Sweet bubblegum' would be another possible description. Chardonnay character is evident in terms of minerality and acidity.

M - Lovely carbonation with a light-medium mouthfeel.

O - For some people this might be a good beer but I did not care for the cotton-candy/fake grape sweetness at all. Alcohol was very smooth however. A miss for me. I would not be very happy if I'd payed for a bottle rather than a taster.

Cork and caged bottle from Tipples. 2013 Project. Pours clear golden colored with some spritzy white head that goes away quickly. Aroma of slight sour vinegar, oak, grapes, citrus peel, and maybe even some Brett. Flavor is lightly tart, dry with some oakiness, and an interesting bit of grape sort of like grape soda rather than grape juice. Hmmm. Some vinous notes as expected. Medium bodied from the sweetness, but rather spritzy with the carbonation. Cascade managed to make a $31 beer taste like Dave Chappelle's Grape Drink. Not drain pouring this since its not completely offensive and cost that much, but what the eff? Seriously what a ripoff.

A: Crystal clear golden body with a massive fizzy head that recedes rapidly. A small ring remains with a constant column of bubbles rising in the middle of the glass.

S: Big acidic white wine aromas at first, followed by sweet peach and lemon juice. A little oak and spiced cider emerge as it warms. Reminds me of a fruitier Sauvignon Blanc. Fantastic nose.

T: Tart white wine is again the major player. Granny smith apple, honeydew melon, and tannic vanilla sweetness from the oak as well. Pleasant wine-like evaporative alcohol character as well. Lacks the depth and complexity of the nose but still delicious.

M: Dry and effervescent. Spritzy carbonation leads into a tannic mouth parching finish.

O: Great beer. While the taste didn't completely live up to the nose, this was a fantastic example of what is possible when the lines between beer and wine are blurred. Nice work Cascade.
